Description from the publisher
Join Movie Club member Oktay for the next film in his series on Mockbusters, Rip-offs and Schlock films with The Room. Here's how it works: 1. We will be meeting at Flying Pie at Friday at 6:30pm 2. Grab some food and drinks and we'll spend some time discussing this 'masterpiece'. (NOTE: Just like a book club, we watch the movie before we meet, streaming links below) **About The Room** The Room (2003) is written, directed, and stars Tommy Wiseau in a melodrama about Johnny. Johnny is a successful, kind hearted, loyal person whose life unravels when Lisa begins an affair with his best friend, Mark. Johnny seems to have everything: a successful career, devoted friends, and a fiancée he adores. But as trust begins to crumble and loyalties are tested, his carefully ordered world starts to unravel... On many lists of So Bad it's Good films, it has been remade with Bob Odenkirk (The Room: A Tribute) and has an origin story film (The Disaster Artist). The Room is great example of outsider art and Schlock at its very best. **Shlock Therapy: Glorious Trash** What can a bargain-bin monster movie, an unofficial Turkish Star Trek, or a mockbuster about battling giant sharks teach us about ourselves? Schlock Therapy is a film discussion group dedicated to exploring the strange, joyful world of cult, exploitation, and "so-bad-it's-good" cinema. Tiny budgets, outlandish premises, questionable acting - Schlock Therapy explores part of the film world where quality and enjoyment are not the linked. **Tips** 1. Haven't seen the movie before? You're in for a treat - try to watch the movie sometime before we meet. Just like a book club we don't watch the movie at our meetup, just discuss it. ([Streaming options](https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/the-room-2003)). There's also a version to stream on [Archive.org](https://dn721808.ca.archive.org/0/items/theroom2003/The.Room.2003.1080p.BluRay.x264.YIFY.mp4) 2. I usually take a few notes while I watch to keep from forgetting the most interesting stuff. If you think of some interesting discussion topics while you watch, bring 'em with you! 3. We'll decide on our next movie to watch! Come with suggestions.
