DESCRIPTION:Sing Together - Victoria\nNew singing option! Meet on the beac
h\, short walk from parking lot. We will sing overlooking the water for an
hour or so\, then a swim for anyone interested. Bring a coffee and sit on
the beach to enjoy the morning a bit before 9 if you want.\n\nCome connec
t with others\, learn songs of community\, and experience the joy of singi
ng in a welcoming and relaxed environment. All songs are taught by call an
d response. No experience needed - even if you never sing\, just bring you
r enthusiasm! Let’s grow something beautiful together!\n\n**Too busy? Th
ink of this as a happiness hack that's more effective than scrolling socia
 l media!**\n\n**What if I can't sing?** Everyone can sing in this group\,
even if you 'never sing'\, 'don't have a good voice'\, or only sing in the
car alone. All voices are welcome and we would love to have you there!\n\
n**What songs do we sing?** None of the songs are religious\, we only meet
at this location since they have generously offered us a room to use. We
sing a wide variety of short songs\, often in rounds\, layers\, or harmony
. They have themes of community\, nature\, joy\, and hope among many other
 s. For more details\, see the website - [https://singtogether.ca/songs-we-
 sing/](https://singtogether.ca/songs-we-sing/)\n\n* I host these as a comm
unity building event. If you’d still like to contribute something to cov
er costs of running the group you can e-transfer to singforjoy135@gmail.co
m\, but there is no requirement to contribute. I prefer E-transfer since d
onations in person can distract from the event :) Thank you so much for at

DESCRIPTION:The Victoria Arion Male Choir: Tradition and Community \nAbout
the Choir\nThe Victoria Arion Male Choir represents one of the newest add
itions to the vibrant choral scene in Victoria\, BC. Formed in the summer
of 2018\, the choir is the result of the union between two long-standing e
nsembles: the Arion Male Voice Choir\, established in 1892\, and the Victo
ria Male Voice Choir\, founded in 1907. Both groups recognized the opportu
nity to better pursue their vision of creating “a community of men singi
ng for health and joy” by coming together as one. This merger has proven
to be a dynamic and successful venture\, yielding positive results both m
usically and organizationally. \nOur Mission\nThe choir is dedicated to su
staining the rich tradition of male-voice choral music. Each year\, member
s share their passion for music through a minimum of two public concerts\,
as well as performances at seniors’ residences\, the Victoria Remembran
ce Day ceremony\, and other community events. In support of music educatio
n\, the Victoria Arion Male Choir offers a choral scholarship program\, in
viting up to four student musicians annually to join and perform with the
group. New members are always welcome to experience the camaraderie and jo

Dress warm it may be chilly in the evening. Let’s hope for no rain\, jo
in the WhatsApp chat to get updates in case we need to move it.\n\nCome co

inging in a welcoming and relaxed environment. All songs are taught by cal
l and response. No experience needed - even if you never sing\, just bring
  your enthusiasm! Let’s grow something beautiful together!\n\nIf you'd l
ike to donate to help cover costs of running the group you can e-transfer
to singforjoy135@gmail.com\, but there is no requirement to contribute. I
prefer E-transfer if possible since donations in person can distract from
the event :)\n\n**Too busy? Think of this as a 60-minute happiness hack th

5-10 minutes early so we all get a chance to get to know each other before
we begin.**\n\n**What if I can't sing?** Everyone can sing in this group\
, even if you 'never sing'\, 'don't have a good voice'\, or only sing in t
he car alone. All voices are welcome and we would love to have you there!\
n\n**What songs do we sing?** We sing a wide variety of short songs\, ofte
 n in rounds\, layers\, or harmony. They have themes of community\, nature\
, joy\, and hope among many others. For more details\, see the website - [

DESCRIPTION:Take a journey through the evolution of musical colour\, featu
ring Simon Farintosh‘s innovative arrangements for guitar. The program p
airs the delicate Impressionism of Ravel and Debussy with Alexander Scriab
in’s piano preludes\, reimagined to exploit the guitar’s natural pench
ant for tonal colour. Traditional masterworks are juxtaposed with the atmo
spheric textures of electronic pioneer Aphex Twin\, and the vivid\, celest

bridge between 19th-century romanticism and the sonic landscapes of today

   \n\n \nSimon Farintosh is an award-winning guitarist\, composer\, and
educator based in Victoria\, British Columbia. Named one of CBC’s “30
Under 30 Classical Musicians” in 2023\, he has distinguished himself thr
ough unconventional programming that integrates the classical guitar with
contemporary forms such as ambient electronica. This innovative approach i
s best highlighted by his multi-volume series\, Aphex Twin for Guitar—a
project that reimagines the intricate works of electronic legend Richard D
. James for the nylon string. By successfully bridging these seemingly dis
parate musical worlds\, Simon has reached a vast global audience\, amassin
g over 3 million streams on Spotify to date. \nThese arrangements have ear
ned significant praise from both classical and electronic music circles. M
arc Weidenbaum\, founder of Disquiet and author of the 33 1/3 book on Aphe
x Twin\, lauded the project for its ability to translate mechanical precis
ion into a “living\, breathing human element\,” creating a “shimmeri
ng\, 4-dimensional soundworld” that transcends the boundaries of acousti
c and electronic music. Reviewing the same project\, Bradford Werner of Th
is is Classical Guitar praised Simon’s “warm\, sensitive sound and str
ong rhythmic delivery\,” noting that these “touching and intricate wor
ks showcase his refined virtuosity and a sophisticated command of the inst
rument’s tonal possibilities.” \nThis evocative quality reached a new
peak with the 2023 release of his debut studio album\, Noctuary\, a set of
brooding vignettes composed specifically for the solo eight-string guitar
. Critics at Sinusoidal Music highlighted the profound emotional impact of
the collection\, remarking: “It is heart-warming\, yet tells of a sadne
ss inside you that can be reached without words. Simply gorgeous.” In ad
dition to his solo output\, Simon was recently featured on the Navona Reco
rds album Filamentos\, performing the works of Dominican-Canadian composer
Liova Bueno. \nSimon’s academic journey began at the University of Vict
oria under the revered pedagogue Dr. Alexander Dunn. He subsequently earne
 d a Master’s Degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2020\, w
here he was a student and teaching assistant to Rene Izquierdo\, a renowne
d Cuban virtuoso. Currently\, Simon is finishing a Doctorate of Musical Ar
ts at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Jorge Caballero and
Dr. Jeffrey McFadden. His doctoral research is dedicated to devising a com
prehensive sight-reading curriculum for undergraduate guitar students. \nA
decorated performer\, Simon won 1st Prize at the 2018 Northwest Guitar Fe
stival and has been a finalist or prizewinner in the Canadian National Mus
ic Festival\, the GuitarLab International Competition\, and the Twisted Sp
ruce Guitar Competition. As a composer\, he received First Prize in the 20
22 Ottawa Guitar Society Composition Competition for his piece\, Distant L
ight\, published by Les Productions d’Oz. \nBeyond the stage\, Simon lea
ds the guitar department at the University of Victoria and operates ReVamp
Guitar Academy. As President of the Victoria Guitar Society and founder o
f Coastline Concerts\, he is a leading arts advocate\; in 2026\, he served
as Festival Director for the Northwest Guitar Festival\, marking the even
t’s first return to Canada in decades. \nSimon performs on a 2025 double
-top guitar by Martin Blackwell and a 2021 eight-string guitar by Jeff Sig
 urdson.

 \n\n\n\n  \n\n \nOctet Victoria is a fully professional group of eight s

lifetime of choral experience\, while others are soloists or dedicated tea
chers. Having a mixed choir of eight different voices allows a large amoun
t of flexibility for repertoire\, and Octet Victoria has explored choral m
usic from all time periods spanning Renaissance to modern day. Octet Victo
ria has performed some of the richest music from the choral tradition such
as motets by J.S. Bach and J. Brahms\, as well as a variety of new music
including selections by Canadian composers such as Ruth Watson Henderson\,
Stephanie Martin\, and Nathaniel Dett. This past season\, Octet Victoria
collaborated with Victoria Baroque\, produced a concert with an expanded g

 will uplift\, inspire and delight you.\n  \n\n  \nProgram TBA\n  \n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n \nChloe Meyers has been playing violin her whole life
. She grew up playing in a string trio with her siblings and was frequentl
y accompanied by her mother. That music was the second language in her ear
ly years solidified her career choice early on until in university\, Chloe
became fascinated by the sound of the period instruments\, and changed fr
om a career of “modern” violin\, to “baroque specialist”\, an abou
t-face in the world of music! \nChloe has played with many different ensem
bles and orchestras all over Canada and the US and in many varied position
s\, most often now as leader or concertmaster. She is concertmaster of the
Pacific Baroque Orchestra in Vancouver\, the affiliate group of Early Mus
ic Vancouver and principal\nsecond of the Seattle Bach Festival Orchestra
in Seattle. \nChloe’s current passion is teaching – she is on faculty
at both UBC and UVic\, and an integral part of the BOMP (Baroque Orchestra
Mentorship Program) that exposes the next generation of players and singe
rs to the art of early music performance practice.\n  \n\n \nThe interna
tionally renowned keyboard artist Alexander Weimann has spent his life env
eloped by the therapeutic power and beauty of making music. \nAlex grew up
in Munich. At age three he became fascinated by the intense magic of the
church organ. He started piano at six\, formal organ lessons at 12 and har
psichord at university (along with theatre theory\, medieval Latin and jaz
z piano.) \nToday he is in huge demand as a director\, soloist and chamber
player\, traveling the world with leading North American and European ens
embles. He is Artistic Director of the Pacific Baroque Orchestra in Vancou
ver and has appeared on more than 100 recordings\, including the Juno-awar
d-winning album “Prima Donna” with Karina Gauvin and Arion Baroque orc
hestra. Alex offers master classes at European and North American universi
