Her songs have had a profound influence\; “Angel\,” “Building A Mystery\,” “Fallen\,” “I Will Remember You\,” “A dia\,” “Sweet Surrender\,” “World On Fire\,” “Possession\,” and countless others are an inspiration to music lovers around the globe.   \nIn addition to her personal artistic efforts\, Sarah founded the Lili th Fair tour\, which showcased female musicians and brought over two mill ion people together during its three-year run.  Lilith Fair raised over $ 7 million for local and national women’s charities and was the most succ essful all-female music event\, launching the careers of numerous performe rs.  \nFollowing Lilith Fair\, Sarah was awarded the Elizabeth Cady Stant on Visionary Award for furthering the careers of women in music.  She is an Officer of the Order of Canada\, was appointed to the Order of British Columbia\, and is the recipient of the Governor General’s Performing Art s Awards for Lifetime Achievement.  \nIn 2002\, she established the not-f or-profit Sarah McLachlan School of Music\, providing free music education and mentorship to underserved children and youth facing barriers to acces s. From an early age\, music provided Sarah with the tools she needed to n avigate the challenges she faced in her life\, so she recognizes how impor tant it is for every child to have those same opportunities.    \nIn Se ptember 2025 Sarah released two notable projects\; the first was her tenth studio album Better Broken. The album is a soul-searching reflection on the fortitude that comes from weathering life’s constant storms with a s election of songs that speak an uncompromising but radically illuminating truth about the state of the human condition.   \nThe second was the fe ature documentary Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery\, which tells the untol d story of the groundbreaking music festival started in the late 1990s\, i n opposition to systematic industry barriers that limited women from playi ng together on a concert bill and getting back-to-back airplay on the radi o.
