DESCRIPTION:Ravi Coltrane is a critically acclaimed Grammy-nominated saxop
 honist\, bandleader\, and composer whose more than two-decade career has e
 stablished him as one of jazz’s most respected voices. At this incredibl
 y special show\, Ravi will perform his father’s iconic magnum opus\, A L
 ove Supreme. As both a leader and collaborator\, he has released six accla
 imed albums and worked alongside celebrated artists including Elvin Jones\
 , McCoy Tyner\, Jack DeJohnette\, Joe Lovano\, and Steve Coleman. Born on 
 Long Island as the second son of jazz icons John and Alice Coltrane and na
 med after sitar legend Ravi Shankar\, he was raised in Los Angeles and sha
 ped by a rich musical legacy. Ravi also played a key role in bringing his 
 mother\, Alice Coltrane\, back to recording and performance\, producing an
 d performing on her powerful 2004 release Translinear Light.

  of its greatest musicians: John Coltrane. To honour his enduring legacy\,
  luminaries Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves unite for a remarkable tri
 bute\, revisiting Coltrane’s 1963 collaboration with Johnny Hartman. \nT
 hree-time Grammy winner and saxophonist Marsalis is one of the most influe
 ntial and revered figures in contemporary music. Returning to the Chan Cen
 tre for the first time in a decade\, for this concert\, he leads his celeb
 rated quartet. Over three decades\, the powerhouse ensemble has become rev
 ered for its uncompromising interpretations and fearless\, deeply expressi
 ve performances. \nReeves has been praised by The New York Times as “the
  most admired jazz diva since the heyday of Sarah Vaughan\, Ella Fitzgeral

 farewell tour before the band closes its story for good this December. \nK
 nown for pulling rock’s energy\, improvisational freedom\, and an irreve
 rent\, genre-blind sense of humour into one sound\, The Bad Plus built a r
 eputation as one of the most distinctive acts in modern jazz\, equally at 
 home covering Nirvana as reinventing Stravinsky. The current lineup\, foun
 ding members Reid Anderson bass and Dave King drums with Ben Monder guitar
  and Chris Speed saxophone\, has spent the past two years touring farewell
  dates across North America\, Europe\, Japan\, and Australia. Vancouver is
  one of their last stops before the band closes things out in Minneapolis\
