and sloped path to the entrance of South Creek Trail\, traveling by the R
ose Garden and Shakespeare Garden. The group will travel down South Creek
Trail to Beaver Lake Trail\, both of which are mostly level gravel paths\,
and then to the paved and flat seawall\, likely using stairs to access th
e last portion of the walk. There is also a concrete culvert at Beaver Lak
e with a ~4cm lip that could potentially be challenging to cross with a wh
eeled mobility device\, but assistance is available if desired. This progr

of years across time\, learning about the ancestors of plants that are fou
nd right here in the place we know today as “Stanley Park”. Join us to
discover what makes a plant a “living fossil” and get a glimpse into
the ecosystems of Earth during the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods and bey
ond. We’ll even take a look at a real fossil to compare one prehistoric
tree to its living descendant! Come along for a light-hearted journey acro
ss time and the evolutionary track of plants such as the dawn redwood\, ma

in our nearby greenspaces! Join a local bird educator for a relaxed introd

bird species and participate in community science through apps like eBird

s home. No birding experience required\, just bring your curiosity and tak

o work in a community-engaged space within their unceded territory now com

and then to the paved and flat seawall\, likely using stairs to access th
e last portion of the walk. There is also a concrete culvert at Beaver Lak
e with a ~4cm lip that could potentially be challenging to cross with a wh
eeled mobility device\, but assistance is available if desired. This progr

DESCRIPTION:Join Jan Lowcock and Neill Vanhinsberg for a morning of birdin
g at Centennial Beach Boundary Bay Regional Park in Tsawwassen. We will
explore a mixture of habitats including hedgerows\, small shrubby/wooded a
reas\, marshes\, open ocean and beaches looking for waterfowl\, marsh bird
s\, raptors\, migrating ducks and geese and some shorebirds if there aren
’t too many dogs on the beach.\n\nAll birders are welcome\, including be
ginners. The trails are mostly flat and hard packed or sand. This walk w
ill be 2½-3 hours and is limited to 15 participants.\n\nFall is one of th
e best seasons for birding in the Vancouver area and we hope you can join
