DESCRIPTION:The Polygon Gallery presents the first major survey of Greg Gi
rard\, one of Canada’s most influential contemporary photographers\, fro
 m July 10–Oct. 25\, 2026. \nThe exhibition presents more than 160 photo
graphs spanning the past half century\, including never-before-seen outtak
es from his iconic photobooks\, and traces his evolution as an artist. The
show unfolds chronologically beginning with some of the earliest images G
irard took as a teenager in 1970s Vancouver. The exhibition then follows h
is footsteps as he traveled down the West Coast and beyond\, landing as a
freelance journalist in Asia and contributing to publications like Time Ma
gazine where he was oftentimes at the front line of civil unrest and confl
ict. \nFollowers of Girard’s work will recognize images from the now-dem
olished Kowloon Walled City and Shanghai — and will discover that in add
ition to his urban landscapes\, he has a mastery of portraiture. The exhib
ition provides a sense of how he moved through the world\, and ends on his
most recent photographs as he revisits the subject of the Lower Mainland\
, with shots of North Vancouver and Surrey included. The exhibition will o
pen simultaneously as the launch of his new publication Greg Girard – Ph
otographs 1972–2026. \nAdmission to The Polygon Gallery is by donation\,

DESCRIPTION:This event is sold out. If additional tickets become available
\, we’ll make the announcement in our weekly newsletter. Sorry\, there i
s no waitlist.   \nPresented in partnership with HarperCollins Canada. \
nThe award-winning\, bestselling author of Station Eleven and Sea of Tranq
uility returns with a breathtaking novel of doubles\, shadow worlds\, and
fractured timelines. We’re thrilled to present Emily St. John Mandel in
Vancouver with Exit Party on Monday\, September 21.  \nA man disappears f
rom a glittering Los Angeles party\, and a woman—a gunrunner\, an art co
llector\, an operative of the State—searches for answers. Emily St. John
Mandel unfurls a story that takes us from a future America splintered by
civil war to the seaside cliffs of Greece where weapons dealers hide in an
elegant resort\, and from the domed city of Paris to a colony on the moon
. An unforgettable literary feat\, Exit Party is a novel about the price o
f safety\, the perils of the surveillance state\, a requiem for a world no
t unlike our own\, and a story of resilience in the face of cataclysmic ch
ange. \nSt. John Mandel will speak to this latest masterpiece\; her extrao
rdinary body of work\, including anticipated TV adaptations of both Exit P
arty and The Glass Hotel\; and more\, in conversation with award-winning j
ournalist and literary critic Michelle Cyca. Books will be for sale at the
