rom the Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson and the Tucson Museum of Art and
Historic Block convenes artists from current exhibitions with members of
 Tucson’s creative community. \nJoin from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the
Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block (140 N. Main Ave.\, in Mooney Hall
) for a conversation between Joel Gaitan and Naomi Ortiz\, both currently
featured in TMA’s exhibition Fierce Bodies. \nJoel Gaitan: Exploring ide
ntity\, spirituality\, and the stories carried through ancestry\, I use ha
nd-built clay techniques passed down through generations\, combining them
with the symbols\, gestures\, and imagery that shaped my upbringing. I cre
ate sculptures that blend humor\, devotion\, and everyday life\, moving be
tween the earthly and the supernatural. Through my figures\, I honor the p
eople and traditions that came before me while imagining new worlds rooted
in memory\, ritual\, and ancestral storytelling. I work across sculpture\
, installation\, and mixed media\, building pieces that feel both personal
and universal. \nNaomi Ortiz (they/them) is a Disabled Mestize poet\,

 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor \n\n\n\nDee Taube\n\n\n\n\n\nI have alway
s loved art\, so while growing up I took all the art classes that were off
ered in school. I was drawn to art beyond being content to just appreciate
it\, but during my working career making time for art seemed a luxury to
be put on hold for the future. Somehow I found jewelry making and fell in
love with it. It enabled me to work with color\, design\, and texture\, it
was a great stress-reliever\, an outlet for my creativity\, and it nurtur
ed my soul. When I became a member of an artists’ co-op in Colorado Spri
ngs\, I was constantly admiring the work created by the glass artists ther
e\, and one day one of them offered to teach me how to fuse glass. I was h
ooked. Creating fused glass art has taught me to appreciate all art even m
ore than I did before. It is always a learning experience. But when everyt
hing goes right\, the end result brings me joy and nurtures my soul\, as I
always hope it will for those who see my art. Learning\, enjoying and cre
ating art is an ongoing journey. Each new piece guides its own design and
helps me grow as an artist. I love it! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRefund &

Volumes 1 and 2” will guide this tour of he and his brother’s family
 ’s water-harvesting & landscape design award-winning 1/8th-acre urban pr
operty and surrounding block of the neighborhood. \n100\,000 gallons of ra
in and stormwater is harvested annually on the property and in the adjoini
ng public right-of-way. You’ll see examples of: \n• an integrated “t
iny house” where a one-car garage was converted into a cottage or “gar
ottage” that passive heats and cools itself for free with well-designed
winter sun access & summer shading. 75% of its building materials were sal
vaged from the waste stream\;\n• solar cooking\, solar water heating\, a
 nd solar power\;\n• legal & inexpensive site-built composting toilets\,
which helped legalize such toilets state-wide\;\n• organic gardens getti

rainwater for all domestic needs including drinking – with no expensive
pumps or mechanical filtration systems\;\n• extensive gravity-fed greywa

 • how a joyous 20 plus-years of car-free life has been possible (cargo b
icycle is key)\, and saves over $8\,000 annually \nIn the neighborhood par
 t of the tour you’ll see:\n• water-harvesting traffic-calming features
that helped turn a dangerous streets into welcoming bicycle boulevards\,\
n• street-runoff harvesting strategies that use street runoff to freely
irrigate street trees and control flooding – and new evolutions and impr
ovements on these strategies\n• learn how these once “pre-legal” str
 eet runoff-harvesting strategies were legalized\, rebated\, and mandated\n
 • native food forests doubling as wildlife and pollinator corridors that
canopy over public foot paths\,\n• how an annual neighborhood rain and
tree planting effort has resulted in the planting of over 1\,800 trees and
thousands of understory plants in the neighborhood\n• how a county gran
t helped pay for water-harvesting strategies harvesting over 1 million gal
lons of annual stormwater in and along the streets\n• how a neighborhood
-organized Neighborhood Foresters program is training up the neighborhood
to steward these features and is implementing more.\n• public art & othe
r strategies reclaiming the commons for more life! \n  \nBrad will also b
e selling (at deep discount) & signing copies of\n• the newly released &
revised\, full-color editions of his award-winning books \n• the new SP

DESCRIPTION:In 1969\, The Who created a rock opera that changed the course
of music history.  And now\, it’s back in a dazzling all-new productio
n that feels more relevant than ever.   \nMyth and spectacle combine in t
his fresh reinvention that includes the unforgettable anthems “I’m Fre
e\,” “See Me\, Feel Me\,” “Sensation” and “Pinball Wizard.”
After witnessing his father shoot his rival\, the young Tommy Walker is lo
st in the universe\, endlessly and obsessively staring into the mirror. An
innate knack for pinball catapults him from reticent adolescent to celebr
ity savior. Tony Award-winning composer Pete Townshend and ony Award-winni
ng original director Des McAnuff find powerful resonance reexamining this
classic story for today. \n1 hour and 40 minutes\, no intermission\nRecomm
ended ages 16+ \nThe Production uses Haze during the performance. \n\nSens
ory Warning: The Production uses an IVL Photon\, a lighting fixture with l
aser effects. It is classified as Class 3R and is safe without permit or t
raining.\nSensory Warning: The Production uses multiple NON-FIRING prop gu
ns with sound effects that simulate gunfire.\n\nAge recommendations serve
