The author of thirteen books translated into nine languages\, Sharman is the recipient of the John Burroughs Medal for Distinguished Natural History Writing for her Diary of a Citizen Scientis t\, which was named by The Guardian as a top-ten nature book. It enabled me to work with color\, design\, and texture\, it was a great stress-reliever\, an outlet for my creativity\, and it nurtur ed my soul. When I became a member of an artists’ co-op in Colorado Spri ngs\, I was constantly admiring the work created by the glass artists ther e\, and one day one of them offered to teach me how to fuse glass. I was h ooked. Creating fused glass art has taught me to appreciate all art even m ore than I did before. It is always a learning experience. But when everyt hing goes right\, the end result brings me joy and nurtures my soul\, as I always hope it will for those who see my art. Learning\, enjoying and cre ating art is an ongoing journey. Each new piece guides its own design and helps me grow as an artist.
