Biennial fiber Artist Wendy Raisanen by joining an embroidery circle to cr
eate herbal sachets. \nThis embroidery sachet drop-in workshop is a relaxi

es to decorate a small fabric pouch. You then fill the stitched bag with l
avender or other dried herbs from Monsoon Mystics while enjoying tea and p
astries from local vendors. \nPlease note that this is not a class with fo
rmal instruction\; rather\, it’s an opportunity to stitch in community.
Some experience with hand sewing is helpful but not required. \nDuring thi
s casual gathering\, you’ll have access to hand mending tools and materi
 als\, like scissors\, needles\, thread\, embroidery floss\, and fabric scr
aps. Wendy will be available to offer suggestions and advice if you get st
uck or aren’t sure how to get started. \nAbout Wendy Raisanen: \nWendy R

Art. \nThis program is part of NightShift\, TMA’s after-hours series tha
t brings art\, creativity\, and community together. Discover something new
and experience the museum after dark. \nWe highly recommend pre-registeri
ng to save your spot. \nCost: $15 general admission\, $12 for Seniors and
Educators\, $10 for members and students with ID\, free for individuals un
der the age of 17.

DESCRIPTION:WHEN: 8am – 10am\, Sunday\, November 22\, 2026 \nWHERE: 813
 N. 9th Avenue\, Tucson\, AZ 85705 \nCOST: $15 per person. Must pay/registe
r in advance. No-shows cannot be refunded.\nLimited number of spaces. Firs
t paid\, first served. \n  \nI will post a BUY BUTTON here about a month
before the event \n  \nCome tour with the guy who wrote the books on wate
r harvesting and more! \nBrad Lancaster\, author of the just released\, fu
ll-color\, revised editions of his award-winning books “Rainwater Harves
ting for Drylands and Beyond\, Volumes 1 and 2” will guide this tour of
he and his brother’s family’s water-harvesting & landscape design awar
d-winning 1/8th-acre urban property and surrounding block of the neighborh
ood. \n100\,000 gallons of rain and stormwater is harvested annually on th
e property and in the adjoining public right-of-way. You’ll see examples
of: \n• an integrated “tiny house” where a one-car garage was conve
rted into a cottage or “garottage” that passive heats and cools itself
for free with well-designed winter sun access & summer shading. 75% of it
s building materials were salvaged from the waste stream\;\n• solar cook
ing\, solar water heating\, and solar power\;\n• legal & inexpensive sit
e-built composting toilets\, which helped legalize such toilets state-wide
\;\n• organic gardens getting 95+% of their irrigation needs met by harv
ested rainwater\;\n• inexpensive gravity-fed rainwater harvesting system
s providing safe & delicious rainwater for all domestic needs including dr
inking – with no expensive pumps or mechanical filtration systems\;\n•
extensive gravity-fed greywater harvesting systems turning “waste” wa
 ters into resource waters.\n• how a joyous 20 plus-years of car-free lif
e has been possible (cargo bicycle is key)\, and saves over $8\,000 annual
ly \nIn the neighborhood part of the tour you’ll see:\n• water-harvest
ing traffic-calming features that helped turn a dangerous streets into wel
coming bicycle boulevards\,\n• street-runoff harvesting strategies that
use street runoff to freely irrigate street trees and control flooding –
and new evolutions and improvements on these strategies\n• learn how th
ese once “pre-legal” street runoff-harvesting strategies were legalize
d\, rebated\, and mandated\n• native food forests doubling as wildlife a
nd pollinator corridors that canopy over public foot paths\,\n• how an a
nnual neighborhood rain and tree planting effort has resulted in the plant
ing of over 1\,800 trees and thousands of understory plants in the neighbo
rhood\n• how a county grant helped pay for water-harvesting strategies h
arvesting over 1 million gallons of annual stormwater in and along the str
 eets\n• how a neighborhood-organized Neighborhood Foresters program is t
raining up the neighborhood to steward these features and is implementing
more.\n• public art & other strategies reclaiming the commons for more l
ife! \n  \nBrad will also be selling (at deep discount) & signing copies
 of\n• the newly released & revised\, full-color editions of his award-wi
nning books \n• the new SPANISH EDITION of his book Cosecha de agua de l
luvia para zonas áridas y más allá \n• Plant the Rain t-shirts\, caps
\, and stickers \n• Siembra la lluvia caps and stickers \n  \n  \nFor
self-guided water tours in Tucson see: \nhttps://www.harvestingrainwater.c
 om/tour/ \n  \n  \nHere is a video of a 2016 tour of my place (more evol
 utions have since occurred)… \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcAMXm9zI
