DESCRIPTION:The North Florida Parkinson’s Awareness Choir welcomes all m
embers of the Parkinson’s community - including people diagnosed with PD
\, family members\, friends\, and caregivers - to raise their voices in so
ng. No singing experience is required! The choir works toward improving so
me of the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease affecting voice quality\, like
articulation\, volume\, and breath support. Being a choir member also all
ows an opportunity for fellowship while performing for members of the grea
ter Tallahassee community. The choir was started in 2005 by a group of fri
ends and a board certified music therapist that recognized a lack of resou
rces for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. It soon inspired the star
t of a 501(c)3 organization that has serviced the needs of the PD communit
y for over a decade of service\, and now finds its home with Elder Care Se
rvices\, Inc. The group is small but mighty\, and proud to reach members
as far away as Canada! The group meets in person at Temple Israel the firs
t Thursday of the month and virtually all other Thursdays. All are welcome
  to join Zoom rehearsals\, Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. EST. Co
