DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The stuff that nightmares are ma
de of” – Harper Barnes\, St. Louis Post Dispatch \n\n\n\nWith this chi
lling adaptation of the best-selling novel by Thomas Harris\, the astonish
ingly versatile director Jonathan Demme crafted a taut psychological thril
ler about an American obsession: serial murder. As Clarice Starling\, an F
BI trainee who enlists the help of the infamous Hannibal “the Cannibal
” Lecter to gain insight into the mind of another killer\, Jodie Foster
subverts traditional gender dynamics and gives one of the most memorable p
erformances of her career. As her foil\, Anthony Hopkins is the archetypal
  antihero—cultured\, quick-witted\, and savagely murderous—delivering
a harrowing portrait of humanity gone terribly wrong. A gripping police pr
ocedural and a disquieting immersion into a twisted psyche\, The Silence
of the Lambs swept the Academy Awards® (Best Picture\, Director\, Scree

k on the big screen for the first time in ages! Aardman’s beloved duo o
f clueless inventor Wallace and his wise\, world-weary dog companion Gromi

ng shorts by visionary animator Nick Park. Full of stunning filmmaking and
design\, clever writing and deep emotional beats\, this timeless program
of claymation is for the kid in us all. \n\n\n\nA GRAND DAY OUT (1989\, 25
mins.)Talented but unlucky inventor Wallace travels with his loyal sideki

 – leads to danger from penguin supervillain Feathers McGraw. \n\n\n\nA C
 LOSE SHAVE (1995\, 30 mins.)Wallace has a new invention – a Knit-O-Matic
machine – and adventure looms as sheep are being rustled and poor Grom
it is framed. Keep your eyes peeled for Shaun the Sheep in his big-screen
debut! \n\n\n\nEach month\, DRAWN VISIONS presents an outré gem from t

DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“They were the funniest comedy te
am in the world.” – Lou Costello \n\n\n\nOne of the greatest comedy te
ams ever to grace the silver screen\, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy starred
together in over 100 shorts and features. Laurel was the childlike\, bewi
 ldered innocent\, and Hardy\, the pompous\, self‑regarding ass\, perpetu
ally irritated by his cohort. Together\, they are perfectly balanced comed
ic foils whose mutual dimwittedness always leads to hilariously escalating
misunderstandings\, mishaps\, and impeccable comedic chaos. We pay tribut
e to the legendary duo with a program of four of their funniest shorts! \n
\n\n\nBIG BUSINESSIn this classic silent short\, Laurel & Hardy are sellin
g Christmas trees door‑to‑door and happen to pick the worst customer i
 maginable\, escalating a petty argument into a glorious\, house‑destroyi
ng war. \n\n\n\nBLOTTOHardy sneaks Laurel out for a night of boozy revelry
\, unaware Laurel’s wife has swapped their liquor with cold tea mixed wi
th hot sauce and myriad spices\, leading to a night of drunken bravado pow
ered entirely by their own stupidity. \n\n\n\nBRATSIn one of the duo’s m
ost surreal shorts\, Laurel and Hardy play both themselves and their own m
ischievous\, oversized children as a quiet night turns into slapstick chao
 s. \n\n\n\nHOG WILDHardy’s rooftop radio antenna becomes a death trap as

by director Shusuke Kaneko\, writer Kazunori Ito (Ghost in the Shell) and
SFX director Shinji Higuchi (who went on to co-direct Shin Godzilla). Trad

“Modern monster classic” – Toho KingdomFollowing a long absence from

Now a guardian deity\, Gamera tussles with a new incarnation of his old fo

etween best friends.” – The Herald \n\n\n\nIn the 1980s there certainl

he purity\, terror and excitement of that specific time of growing up with
the authenticity of the tragically overlooked Old Enough. Every day on h

ses a group of neighborhood kids engaged in some mischief that she\, with
her upper-class upbringing\, can scarcely fathom. On a morning like any ot
her she encounters the streetwise Karen (Rainbow Harvest)\, who talks shel
tered Lonnie into playing hooky and takes her out of her brownstone bubble
and into a blue collar world full of shoplifting and Catholicism. The gir
ls couldn’t come from more different backgrounds\, but the exoticism of

DESCRIPTION:“A timeless trans buddy comedy… By Hook or By Crook provi
des an important sense of queer history.” – Chicago Reader \n\n\n\nGro

OR BY CROOK is a trans and butch buddy film that chronicles three weeks

ith a nagging messiah complex. Emotionally defeated after the death of his

DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday Night WTF screenings are che
 ap\, weird\, and out of control! Cult trashterpieces\, so-bad-they’re-go

uth. When she learns of a mysterious chef whose dumplings are supposedly a
ble to do just this\, she quickly tracks her down. But what exactly is the
secret of the recipe? When you find out\, you may never wanted to have di
m sum ever again. Expanded from a short segment in the compilation film Th
ree… Extremes\, Dumplings is a biting satire of beauty care and aging th

DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLOST IN THE ARTHOUSE is a monthly s
eries hosted by Arkadin co-owner Keith Watson that takes you to hidden cor
ners of filmdom far from Hollywood. From must-see classics to obscurities
waiting to be discovered\, these films stand at cinema’s bleeding edge.
\n\n\n\n“I had\, so to speak\, seen it all. And then I saw Caniba.”
 – John Semley\, The Globe & Mail \n\n\n\nA hugely controversial document
ary from the pioneering filmmakers behind the also-incredible Leviathan\,
Caniba just might be the scariest movie ever made. It’s certainly one
of the most intimate and unrelenting explorations of human depravity ever
captured onscreen. Filmed primarily in intense close-ups that practically
burrow into its subject’s flesh\, Caniba is a portrait of the notorious
criminal Issei Sagawa\, who\, as a 32-year-old student at the Sorbonne in
Paris\, murdered his Dutch classmate\, Renée Hartevelt\, and began eatin
g her body. Sagawa was convicted of his crimes in France\, but through som
e legal loopholes\, he soon was allowed to return back to his home country
of Japan where he lived for decades as a free man\, making his living by
writing novels\, drawing manga\, and appearing in innumerable documentarie
s and sexploitation films in which he reenacted his crime. \n\n\n\nDirect
ors Véréna Paravel and Lucien Castaing-Taylor explore the outer limits o
f human behavior through Sagawa’s mysterious relationship with his broth
er. In a twist reminiscent of Terry Zwigoff’s Crumb\, it turns out Sagaw
a may not be the most disturbed person in his own family. Disturbing\, dar
kly funny\, and completely unforgettable\, Caniba provides an uncomfortabl
e intimacy with a man most would regard as a monster\, one who has transgr
essed the fundamental taboo. The film refuses to provide easy judgments or
simple resolutions\, allowing us—or perhaps forcing us—to marinate in
our own shared humanity. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArkadin does not gen

DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The greatest kaiju movies ever m
ade!” – Matt Draper \n\n\n\nAfter laying dormant for fifteen years\, G
amera was rebooted for the big screen in a smash hit trilogy masterminded
by director Shusuke Kaneko\, writer Kazunori Ito (Ghost in the Shell) and
SFX director Shinji Higuchi (who went on to co-direct Shin Godzilla). Trad
ing the campy kid-friendly surrealism of the earlier films for a darker\,
more realistic tone and jaw-dropping innovative special effects\, the “H
eisei trilogy” are still regarded today as three of the best—if not th
e very best—kaiju films ever made. This unmissable trio plays on the las
t three Sundays in September at 3 pm. Each film in the trilogy builds on t
he previous one but also offers a perfectly satisfying standalone experien
 ce! \n\n\n\n\nSept. 13 @ 3 pm — Gamera: Guardian of the Universe (1995)
“Modern monster classic” – Toho KingdomFollowing a long absence from
the big screen\, Gamera made a triumphant return to form in time for his
30th anniversary\, with upgraded special effects and a more serious tone.
Now a guardian deity\, Gamera tussles with a new incarnation of his old fo
e—the flying monster Gyaos — first in Fukuoka\, and then in a spectacu

of Legion (1996)“The kind of sequel that all kaiju films should aspire t
o be” – Cinematical PenguinOne year after the events of the previous G
amera film\, Earth’s ecosystem is under attack by an insect lifeform fro
m outer space bent on colonizing our world. As the city of Sendai is destr
oyed\, Gamera must protect the planet from the monster Legion and gets som
 e help from Japan’s Self Defense Forces.\n\n\n\nSept. 27 @ 3 pm — Game
ra 3: Revenge of Iris (1999)”The greatest giant monster film ever made
” – A.D. VisionAs Gyaos monsters begin to attack Japan again\, a young
girl — whose parents died during a previous monster conflict — discov
