 y Time held at Fire Station 3.14 at the Discovery Center Springfield.\nFir
 efighters will begin providing a free book to every household with a child
  in attendance – an effort designed to reinforce key lessons beyond the 
 classroom and into the home. Each book is carefully selected to highlight 
 themes such as fire safety\, good citizenship and the importance of readin
 g.\nThe initiative is funded through a $4\,000 Community Matters Grant awa
 rded to the Springfield Fire Department in February. The funding allows th
 e department to supply books to children who participate in the interactiv
 e educational sessions\, ensuring that families leave not only with knowle
 dge\, but also with tools to continue learning together.\n“This partners
 hip allows us to extend our mission beyond emergency response and into pre
 vention and education\,” said Cassie Melvin of the Springfield Fire Depa
 rtment. “By combining fire safety messaging with literacy\, we’re help
 ing build safer\, more informed households while also encouraging a lifelo
 ng love of reading.”\nFire Safety Story Time is a recurring monthly even
 t hosted at the Discovery Center\, where firefighters engage children thro

 s from her work\, and signs copies of her books. This is a free event but

 sis. We look forward to seeing you!\n\n"Patty Prewitt went to prison in 19
 86 for a murder she did not commit. She and her supporters fought for just
 ice every day of her incarceration. Governor Parson freed her on December 
 20\, 2024. She hit the ground running. Her first memoir\, Trying to Catch 
 Lightning in a Jar\, chronicling the first 20 years of her incarceration\,
  was published just months later. In December\, she completed her bachelor
 ’s at Washington University St. Louis\, and this spring she published he
 r second memoir\, Catching Lightning\, about the second half of her impris
 onment and release. She has also published a children’s book\, A Little 
 Person Like You Whose Mommy Goes to Prison. Patty is currently working on 
 two poetry books and a Spanish translation of her children’s book."

 le. In chair yoga\, it’s possible to move into poses like cat/cow\, warr
 ior\, sun salutations and forward folds\, all while seated. \nWhether yoga
  is done in a chair or on the mat\, the practice still focuses on the same
  core principles: focusing on your breath\, paying attention to your thoug
 hts\, and staying in the moment. \nThe Benefits of Chair Yoga\nResearch sh
 ows yoga is linked to decreased levels of stress\, anxiety\, and depressio
 n\, lowered cholesterol and blood pressure\, improved energy\, better slee
 p quality\, less pain\, and reduced body mass index. Matt Minard PT\, DPT\
 , physical therapist with Atrium Health in Charlotte\, NC\, believes those
  benefits extend to chair yoga. \nChair yoga is also a good\, safe workout
  for beginners.
