DESCRIPTION:Ballyhoo Theatre is thrilled to present our Mainstage Producti
on of CABARET! Cabaret\, the 1966 groundbreaking masterpiece with music by
John Kander and Fred Ebb and book by Joe Masteroff\, is set in the shadow
s of 1931 Berlin during the rise of the Nazi regime. Cabaret explores the
relationships between club performer Sally Bowles and American novelist Cl
iff Bradshaw\, and between gentile Fräulein Schneider\, a boarding house
proprietor\, and her tenant Herr Schultz\, a mild-mannered Jewish fruit se
ller. Overseeing the action at the Kit Kat Klub is the mysterious Master o
f Ceremonies\, presenting classic musical theatre hits as commentary throu
ghout the piece. Cabaret examines the dangers of keeping our eyes closed t
o the world around us\, and reminds us to stand up against the power of ha
tred to take away our human rights.

DESCRIPTION:Greetings\, Diocese of Olympia. The holiday season is upon us.
You know this\, of course\, because it’s been upon us since probably ea
rly October when at least I first saw those holiday M&Ms in their red-and-
green variety encouraging me to buy them even before the Halloween candy w
as gone. And yet here we are just beginning this season of Advent\, of wat
ching and waiting as we prepare for the coming of the Christ child again a
nd as we prepare for the coming of Christ into our midst a second time. A
number of years ago now\, I came across a book and a website about the Adv
ent conspiracy. It’s online at adventconspiracy.org. There were three pa
stors who got together who wanted to make this time of Advent more meaning
ful for their parishioners. And so they began to question all that surroun
ds the consumerism within our culture\, and wondered if we could get back
to the real meaning of this time. They suggest that we focus on four thing
s during this season of Advent. First\, that we worship fully\, recognizin
g that this season is an invitation for us to watch and wait for the comin
g of Christ\, and that we can watch and wait more fully when we engage wit
h the living God and starting our practice there rather than trying to fig
ure out what’s on our list and checking it twice. The second thing they
encourage us to do is to spend less\, to take less money and put it toward
s those gifts that are really unimportant. You know those ones\, where you
’re buying something willy-nilly to stuff into a stocking or those gifts
  for your friends\, brothers\, sisters\, aunt or uncle\, and this random p
erson twice removed. It gets kind of crazy how long that list really gets\
, isn’t it? And they recognize that many in our culture will end this se
ason with credit card debt or needing to pay back things that they bought
that they thought someone might like\, but really didn’t. Their third th
ing that they encourage us to do is to give more\, which is not the same t
hing as spending less mind you\, because what they encourage is that we\,
in our gift-giving\, really dig into the relationship of those gifts to gi
ve something that encourages and builds our connections with others. Thing
s that take time and energy to invest in and think about\, rather than jus
t buying another sweater for somebody. To say maybe what could we do toget
her to deepen our connections and to find new ways to learn from each othe
 r. Finally\, they encourage us to love all recognizing that how much money
we spend during this time\, we could be giving gifts that might help impa
ct those around the world who might be needy. They encourage you to maybe
give the gift of water to a community or maybe an animal through Heifer In
ternational\, or finding other ways to connect through gift-giving on beha
lf of others\, to give things to people who might really need it. Those th
ings would indeed help us to get ready for the coming of Christ. It would
be a conspiracy against all that our culture holds dear\, and yet would br
ing us closer to the real meaning of this time. So\, I encourage you this
Advent to think about maybe doing just one or two of those things. To find
new ways to worship or to spend less\, to give more\, to love all. And th
rough that process\, draw closer to the one who is coming again\, the one
for whom we long for and wait\, the one who comes to set us free and to br
ing peace for us and for all the world. May this season of Advent be a ble
ssing to you and to those that you love. And may we truly be ready to gree
t the Christ child when he comes once more into our midst.

DESCRIPTION:When couples come to therapy\, it’s because they’re stuck
 — repeating the same fights\, shutdowns\, and escalations over and over
again. \nAs the therapist\, the pressure is on you to help them break that
cycle. \nBut here’s the real challenge: what’s driving those moments
 isn’t insight\, communication\, or willingness to change… \n…it’s
their nervous system going into survival mode. \nWhen that happens\, it do
esn’t matter what skills you’ve taught them — they won’t be able t
o access any of it. \nThat’s where the Psychobiological Approach to Coup
le Therapy (PACT) changes everything! \nDeveloped by Stan Tatkin\, PsyD\,
MFT\, PACT teaches you to track what’s actually happening in the room
 — in real time. Nervous system states. Survival strategies. The moment-t
o-moment interaction happening below the words. \nThat’s where relations
hip breakdown occurs – and it’s the only place real change can happen.
\nJoin Dr. Stan Tatkin for this free two-day workshop and discover how to
 : \n\nTrack micro-shifts in face\, voice\, and body—so you catch escalat
ion as it starts\nSpot “can’t change” in real time (and stop mistaki
ng it for resistance)\nIntervene while the pattern is live—not after it
 ’s already taken over\nTurn sessions into structured\, in-the-room exper
iences that create immediate change\nWork the couple as a single system—
so both partners shift\, together\n\nIf you work with couples—or want to
—this workshop will fundamentally change how you understand and treat re
lationship distress. \nRegister now and start working where change actuall
 y happens.

DESCRIPTION:Join NAWIC Puget Sound and JTM Construction for an exclusive b
ehind-the-scenes tour of one of Seattle’s most distinctive developments:
  1200 Stewart. \nThis 1.4-million-square-foot project is transforming a pr
ominent section of Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood with two 48-s
tory residential towers\, an expansive mixed-use podium\, and one feature
that’s impossible to miss—a suspended Boeing 747 fuselage positioned b
etween the towers beneath a glass barrel-vault atrium. \nThe 1200 Stewart
development adds two 48-story residential apartment towers to Seattle’s
South Lake Union neighborhood. Upon completion\, the project is expected t
 o include: \n\n927 residential units\n121 short-term stay suites\nMore tha
n 145\,000 SF of commercial and retail space\nA five-level subterranean pa
rking garage with 611 stalls\n24 elevators\nTwo rooftop swimming pools and
additional rooftop amenities\nA three-story indoor public galleria connec
ting Stewart Street and Denny Way\nThe Fillmore at WB1200\, a 2\,300-seat
Live Nation event venue\nA suspended Boeing 747 fuselage incorporated into
the central atrium\n\nThe development is intended to participate in the C
ity of Seattle’s Multi-Family Tax Exemption Program\, with a portion of
its residential units designated as affordable housing. Originally designe
d by Vancouver-based Henriquez Partners Architects\, the project transitio
ned to Ankrom Moisan for construction administration and design completion
 . The podium’s three-story indoor galleria creates a public connection b
etween Stewart Street and Denny Way\, incorporating landscaped walkways\,
retail spaces\, gathering areas\, and the Boeing 747 installation at its c
 enter. \nSite Walk: 3:30–4:15 PM\nHappy Hour: Approximately 4:15–5:30
PM at nearby Tutta Bella \nAttendees will be divided into two groups\, bot
h beginning at 3:30 PM from the same meeting location. Two members of the
JTM Construction team currently working on 1200 Stewart will lead approxim
ately 45-minute concurrent tours\, beginning at opposite ends of the proje
 ct. \nPPE & Site Requirements\nThis is an active construction site\, and p
roper PPE and footwear are required. JTM anticipates being able to provide
hard hats\, gloves\, and safety glasses based on the final attendee headc
ount if you do not have your own. However\, all attendees must wear boots
with ankle support. Steel-toe boots are not required\; but appropriate co
nstruction-site footwear is mandatory. JTM’s safety team will deny site
access to anyone who does not meet footwear requirements. \nPlease dress a
ppropriately for an active construction environment. \nHappy Hour to Follo
w\nAfter the tour\, we’ll head to Tutta Bella for happy hour and network
ing. Come explore an incredible Seattle project\, meet members of the team
bringing it to life\, and connect with women and allies across the Puget
 Sound construction community.

DESCRIPTION:Has it ever felt like the planet is burning\, shared reality i
s melting\, and a new iteration of the extreme is on the march? In their n
ew book\, End Times Fascism and the Fight for the Living World\, activists
and authors Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor help readers not only understand
this development\, but how to resist it. \nOffering a scathing assessment
of the contemporary scene\, Klein and Taylor explore how religious fundam
entalists\, Silicon Valley technologists\, and ethno-nationalists make up
an apocalyptic alliance that share more than one might think: they are uni
ted in the belief that some kind of cleansing cataclysm is coming\, whethe
r through the manifestation of messianic prophecy\, the rampages of artifi
cial intelligence\, or the purported existential threat of immigration and
cultural replacement. Klein and Taylor contend that rather than avoiding
this conflagration\, this group welcomes it\, convinced they will be among
the saved on the other side. \n“End Times Fascism” is the ideology of
the actors who strive to make the world unlivable and then seek to protec
t themselves from the fallout — whether by retreating to luxurious priva
te islands\, rocketing off to Mars\, or bunkering the nation to keep their
enemies at bay. The new survivalists have accumulated power\, but they ar
e far from impregnable. As Klein and Taylor show via original reporting an
 d analysis\, their many internal conflicts\, contradictions\, and nihilist
ic inability to envision a shared future leave them vulnerable to a new ki
nd of politics — rooted in reverence for our shared existence and regard
for the earth we inhabit and must protect.
