DESCRIPTION:The fourth annual Columbia Pacific Dahlia Show will be held at
  the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum (CPHM) in Ilwaco on Friday\, Septemb
 er 18 and Saturday September 19\, 2025. \nPart contest\, part show\, this 
 event highlights the stunning beauty of dahlias and the creativity of thos
 e who grow and love them.\nThere are three categories of competition:  \n
 1.  floral arrangements feature dahlias as the central theme\, \n2.  tab
 le arrangements combine individual growers’ favorite dahlias with their 
 creative arranging of vases and textiles and more on a 6-foot table\n3.  
 photographs that feature dahlias.\nPre-Registration forms are available on
  the CPHM website columbiapacificheritagemuseum.org or at the Museum’s f
 ront desk. Registration is open through September 17 or until full. Table\
 nset-up and entry drop-off will be on Thursday\, September 17 from 10AM to
  4PM at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum\, 115 SE Lake Street\, Ilwaco

 p focused on the art and challenge of making ceramic teapots. Drawing from
  years of experience\, David will share his techniques\, design philosophy
 \, and personal approach to creating functional and expressive teapots.\nT
 he class will explore the unique considerations involved in teapot design\
 , including proportion\, balance\, pouring performance\, lid fit\, handle 
 placement\, and spout construction. Along the way\, students will gain ins
 ight into David’s working methods\, aesthetic influences\, and problem-s
 olving strategies for one of ceramics' most rewarding forms.\nThrough demo
 nstrations\, discussion\, and hands-on making\, participants will deepen t

DESCRIPTION:In the era of wooden boats\, “chafing mats” were woven out
  of repurposed fishing line and placed on the deck in high traffic areas t
 o reduce wear and tear on the wooden surface. It was regarded as a boat 
 ‘accessory’ and many fishermen who had pride in their craft learned ho
 w to weave them. Over the course of a Saturday afternoon\, students will w
 ork in pairs to create their own Oval Knot from repurposed fishing line. $
 80 / member\, $100 nonmember\, One spot for this workshop is available at 
 half the member price ($40) thanks to generous donors to CRMM’s Adult ED
 U scholarship fund!
