DESCRIPTION:Filmmaker Rustin Thompson journeys into the American West on a
search for traces of what was once a center of small-town life: the movie
theater. On the trip\, he finds long abandoned and forgotten cinemas\; mo
vie houses that have fallen into disrepair\; theaters recently closed\, th
eaters struggling to hold on\, and theaters that—thanks to their thought
ful caretakers—are not only surviving but thriving. Between the stops al
ong the way\, Rustin poetically intersperses excerpts from Peter Bogdanovi
ch’s 1971 classic film The Last Picture Show\, as well as reflections on
past and present hardships facing the film exhibition industry. The Last
Picture Shows is not only a timely portrait of an industry in crisis\, one
facing the headwinds of consolidation\, streaming\, and the diminishing t
heatrical experience\, but it also reminds viewers that even in vast cinem
a deserts\, there are oases of community and gathering that remain\, where
the movie house continues to be a place of wonder\, contemplation\, and c
onnection. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDirector Rustin Thompson is a writer and filmmake
r and deejay based in Seattle. His recent films include The Last Picture S
hows and Died Without Issue. His hybrid essay film\, Slow Revolution\, pla
yed in several international film festivals\, and his film My Mother Was H
ere won Best Documentary at the Tacoma Film Festival. His very first docum
entary\, made in 2000\, was 30 Frames A Second\, won several Best Document
ary awards\, was named one of the Top Ten films of the year by the America
n Library Association\, and one of the Best Undistributed Films of 2001 by

DESCRIPTION:Will Poulter and Noah Centineo deliver pitch-perfect performan
ces as brothers Cody and Jack Parsons\, each navigating a court-mandated d
rug rehabilitation program in a pocket of rural Ohio hit hard by the opioi
d epidemic. Provided with hope for the first time since their struggles be
gan and with the support of a tireless counselor (Annette Deao)\, the brot
hers work toward a brighter\, sober future. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPoulter and Cent
ineo blend seamlessly with a supporting cast composed predominantly of non
-professional actors as they share their actual experiences\, pain\, and o
ptimism as they\, themselves\, navigate the program. Ohio-born filmmaker A
dam Meeks creates a film imbued with realism for an honest\, compassionate
portrait of a battle being fought across America and the solidarity that
flowers on its front lines. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n“The opioid epidemic has been
ravaging the United States for decades\, and while much attention has been
paid to Big Pharma and the root causes and effects of the epidemic\, topi
cs of addiction treatment and access to recovery communities are still und
er-recognized. Although many recovery programs across the country are inef
fective or problematic\, the drug courts I’ve observed in Ohio are profo
und in their values\, their success rates\, and in their underlying sense
of hope and connection. With Union County I’ve intended to look directly
at that notion of connection\, to celebrate the drug court and its partic
ipants\, and to explore a complex but hopeful counter-narrative to the opi
oid epidemic that needs to be seen — a young man getting back on his fee
 t. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile the film employs a fictional dramatic narrative bui
lt around Will Poulter and Noah Centineo’s central performances\, many o
f the court interactions emerge through a documentary process in the real
space\, with the real people. Additionally\, many of the supporting charac
ters are portrayed by non-professional actors from the Ohio recovery commu
nity playing versions of themselves\; this includes Annette Deao\, Judge B
raig\, and the majority of the recovery community surrounding our lead act
ors. The convergence of professional and non-professional actors is intend
ed to ground the story in authenticity and to invite collaboration from th
e community and the real-life characters themselves. ” -Director’s St

DESCRIPTION:Santa Fe Blue Studio: Life Drawing Meetup Group\nHello everyo
ne\,\n\nRemember in that bygone era before Covid we used to do life drawin
g here at Santa Fe Blue Studio? I’m bringing it back **Tuesday July 11th
starting at 12:00 and going to 3:00.** You can come for one hour or the f
ull 3 hours. After drawing we might order food from Jambos Bite or Café F
ina and sit around a table and talk about making art.\n\nThis time during
the summer/fall I thought it might be fun to do it outside if weather perm
its. I have built a large portal (shade and protection) that we could sit
under. It has a 220-degree view and wonderful to be in. (If it doesn't wor
k\, we will go into the studio). There are good sitting areas plus at leas
t 15 chairs. I have tables but if you want an easel\, please bring a porta
ble one. In this first tryout please only use dry media - I can put down t
arps. Maybe over time we can do acrylic paint.\n\nIn addition\, I can offe
r instruction on how to use your Ipad via a great program called Procreate
to do life drawing. The best way to learn is by doing and having a patien
t enthusiastic facilitator by your side. If you are interested in learning
Procreate\, or how to apply your Procreate skills to life drawing\, or ju
st have access to me as a Procreate resource\, let me know. I have taught
Life Drawing\, Drawing\, and Digital Media at Santa Fe Community College\,
IAIA\, and Santa Fe University of Art and Design.\nYou can work with natu
ral media\, digital media or a combination of both.\n\nAlso\, I have two p
rinters available for people. Even if you are not working digitally\, we c
an bring your drawing into the digital world and print it. Then with the l
ong poses you could explore variations on multiple pieces of paper of your
drawing. It is a great way to learn. If you would like to go home with an
archival print of your drawing\, I have a gallery level printer where you
can print your piece out.\n\nAnd then\, Jambos Bite and Café Fina are ri
ght down the street. After drawing we can\, in a very civilized way gather
around the table and discuss art over great food.\n\nI'm thinking that I
might do this twice a month at first and if it works out increase it to ev
ery week.\n\n**$15 an hour to use dry media for life drawing**\n**$20 an h
our for instruction in Procreate for life drawing**\n**$3/ per 13 x 19 inc
h Epson Workforce Print**\n**$15/ per print on gallery level Epson SC-P900
**\n\nYou can order from cafe fina or jambos bite which are 1/2 mile away
and we can get it. Those costs are yours.\n\nIf there are a lot of people
interested in taking lessons from me in digital techniques and how to inte
grate them with your natural media\, I will consider adding a teaching hou
r before the 3-hour freeform life drawing session.\n\nReply here or email
me at **bmehlman@yahoo.com** with any questions or suggestions. Let me kno
w if you are interested in the teaching options.\n\nTake care\,\n\nBarbara

ook Zones of Encuentro: Language and Identities in Northern New Mexico. Wo
rking at the intersection of Latina/x/o cultural studies\, sociocultural l

k at the cultural and linguistic interactions between two distinct communi
ties in northern New Mexico: Nuevomexicanos and first-generation Mexicano

DESCRIPTION:Tuesday Night Drawing\n**Fee: $10 cash or PayPal at the door.*
*\n\nAll skill levels are welcome\, from beginner to accomplished. The gro
up is not an instructional drawing class\, but a drawing experience and an
opportunity to draw live models. Conversation among the artists during po
ses is common. Snacks during the 5-minute breaks are available — when ar
tists choose to bring snacks.\n\nPosing starts with warmup 2-minute poses\
, then 5-minute poses\, and increasingly longer poses throughout the sessi
on. The poses take place in 20-minute blocks (two 10-minute poses\, for ex
ample) with a 5-minute break between each 20-minute block. The last pose o
f the night is usually approximately 40-minutes\, split into two 20-minute
sessions (with a 5-minute break between the two sessions).\n\nFolding cha
irs are available. Bring your own paper\, drawing pads\, drawing materials
 \, etc.\n\nSee you there.\nJohn

DESCRIPTION:Mountain Grass Unit\nAppalachian Smoke Tour\nSeptember 22\, 20
 26 • 7:00 pm\nDOORS 6:00pm  •  21+ without parent or guardian\n\nH
ailing from Birmingham\, Alabama\, Mountain Grass Unit has rapidly emerged
as one of the most electrifying young bands in modern bluegrass\, fusing
 razor-sharp picking\, fearless improvisation\, and four-part harmony into
a sound that feels both rooted and revolutionary. The quartet — Drury An
 derson (mandolin\, vocals)\, Luke Black (guitar\, vocals)\, Josiah Nelson
(fiddle\, vocals)\, and Sam Wilson (bass\, vocals) — first turned heads
with their 2024 EP Runnin’ From Trouble\, but 2025 proved to be their tr
ue breakthrough year. The band logged nearly 100 national tour dates\, sol
d out over thirty headline shows\, and delivered standout festival perform
 ances at Telluride Bluegrass\, DelFest\, Northlands\, an d WinterWonderGra
ss. \nRolling Stone praised them as the “surprise show” of Telluride\,
while Saving Country Music declared them the “next big band in bluegras
s\,” with further national spotlight through exclusive live sessions wit
h Paste\, Relix\, and No Depression\, cementing their arrival on the natio
nal stage. Their momentum peaked during IBMA week\, where they earned the
International Bluegrass Music Association’s Momentum Artist of the Year
award\, a defining milestone in a year of exponential growth. \nNow in the
studio crafting their next full-length album\, due late summer\, and fres
h off support runs with genre leaders like The Infamous Stringdusters and
Kitchen Dwellers\, the band continues to expand its reach. Along the way\,
they’ve shared stages with legends like Billy Strings and Greensky Blue
grass in a series of high-profile moments that underscore the respect they
’ve earned from the genre’s leading voices. Mountain Grass Unit isn’
t simply riding bluegrass’s current resurgence\, they are helping steer
it\, staking their claim as one of the most vital and forward-looking youn
g bands in American roots music today.
