 erey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf that are held on the first Sunday of ever

 sks. He is also available on other days to conduct small tours. \nTours me
 et at the head of Old Fisherman’s Wharf(near the pink “Harbor House”

DESCRIPTION:Consulting Ornithologist Alex Rinkert will lead a short interp
 retive hike around Loch Lomond with a focus on bird identification by sigh
 t and sound. This free event is a great opportunity to learn from an exper
 ienced ornithologist! See the many perching birds\, raptors\, and waterfow
 l that frequent Loch Lomond. Layered clothing\, snacks\, water\, bird guid
 ebooks and binoculars are recommended. \n\nThe monthly “Loch Walks” a
 re included in the entry fee for the Recreation Area. There is a $10.00 ch
 arge per vehicle for entrance to the park. Walk participants are encourage
 d to dress for variable weather conditions and to wear proper footwear for
  hiking on dirt trails and for changes in elevation.  \n\nThe Loch Lomon
 d Recreation Area is a 180-acre reservoir and part of the 2\,800-acre wate
 rshed land holdings that the City of Santa Cruz Water Department manages i
 n the Newell Creek watershed. Loch Lomond serves as Santa Cruz City’s on
 ly drinking water reservoir.  \n\nLoch walks are free and do not require
  a reservation\, but the size of the group is limited to 25\, and there is
  a sign-up sheet for first come\, first served.   Arrive early to sign u

  during her graduate work and spent 33 years as an interpretive trainer at

 ave Our Shores. \nAfter disembarking\, you will split into smaller groups 
 for two special\, behind-the-scenes experiences. Each group will tour the
  Sunflower Star Lab\, which is breaking new ground in raising and reintro
 ducing sunflower sea stars – a keystone predator of sea urchins – to h
 elp restore Northern California’s kelp forests following their dramatic 
 decline. You will also receive rare access to a local fossil collection\, 
 a hidden gem in Moss Landing that is not open to the public. The groups wi

  hike through the Sandhills\, which will last approximately 2 hours\, part
 icipants can meander through sandy soils on the mountain top\, about 800 f

 n about the rare and unique things that call it home. The hike is recommen

DESCRIPTION:Starting in April\, on both Saturday and Sunday of the second 
 weekend of each month\, the City of Santa Cruz staff will lead tours of Lo
 ch Lomond Reservoir on the Newell Jewell (pontoon boat).  The tours start
  at 11AM on both days and lasts about an hour.\n\nAttendance is limited to
  25 people and is offered on a first-come\, first-served basis.\n\nThe Loc
 h Lomond Recreation Area is a 180-acre reservoir and part of the 2\,800-ac
 re watershed land holdings that the City of Santa Cruz Water Department ma
 nages in the Newell Creek watershed. It is open daily from late March thro
 ugh mid-October when the park closes for the season.
