DESCRIPTION:Lose yourself in the timeless drama of Romeo & Juliet as Shake
speare's iconic love story unfolds in a powerful live performance under th
e open sky by the Award-winning UC Santa Barbara Naked Shakes. Since 2006\
, the mission of Naked Shakes has been to present energetic\, exciting\, r
aw\, vibrant Shakespeare using the power of the actors and the language. D
on't miss this unforgettable performance that will transport you to the wo
 rld of Verona!\n\n \n\n \n\nAbout UC Santa Barbara's Naked Shakes:\n\nNake
d Shakes believes in the transformation of the actor and the space\, along
with the imaginative ability of the audience. Each play is presented cle
arly and directly so that the audience inhabits the imaginative world of t
he play through Shakespeare’s language. The barren physical theater spa
ce is very important to the Naked Shakes concept\; it takes on the identit
y of whatever locale or particular piece of poetic language is described\,
and yet always reminds the audience they are in a theater. When Prospero
in The Tempest describes “the great Globe itself\,” he is not only re
ferring to the entire Earth\, but also the “Globe” Theater – Shakesp
eare’s theater. That duality is what Naked Shakes is all about. \n\nThe
critically acclaimed\, award-winning Naked Shakes has performed at UCSB a

College and Center Stage in downtown Santa Barbara. Past Naked Shakes pro
