DESCRIPTION:SLOCA has always been quite thrifty—after all\, we did conve
rt a garage into a classroom for 11 students when we began. And while we
’ve always wanted beauty to be a central part of what makes us who we ar
e\, we also know the secret that the most beautiful things are not always
brand new. 7 years into being an established school\, we opened our belove
d thrift store Fred & Betty’s in downtown SLO as a way to provide an add
itional source of revenue. Named after the owners of the building (and the
source of our thrift business wisdom)\, Fred and Betty Campbell\, this 5\
,000 square foot space quickly became a staple in the thrifting community.
Fred & Betty’s was even voted the Best Local Thrift Store in the New Ti
mes Best of SLO Reader’s Poll for three years! Fred & Betty’s successf
ully donated annually to SLOCA for over 13 years\, but as the school conti
nued to grow\, it became clear that resources needed to be directed toward
s other efforts that were performing better than Fred & Betty’s. For tha
t reason\, SLOCA ultimately decided to seek another organization or compan
y to run the business and donate out of their proceeds to support SLOCA. W
e were glad to seal the deal with The Haven (103 E Branch St\, Arroyo Gran
de)\, a curated secondhand and vintage store operated by Monarch Trading C
ompany LLC. A popular vintage store themselves located in The Village\, th
eir business expertise and willingness to partner with us in our mission m
ade them solid candidates for taking on this store. “It has been a pleas
ure to serve our thrifting community since 2013\, and we are grateful to t
hose who assisted us along the way\,” says Susie Theule\, Founder + Head
of School at SLOCA. “We look forward to seeing the community embrace Th
e Haven and continue to support the life-changing work we are doing at SLO
Classical Academy.”  The Haven will continue an ongoing partnership wi
th SLOCA—we will keep encouraging our community to direct donations to t
he store\, and The Haven will keep providing financial support to the scho
ol. “Our goal is to honor what this store has meant to San Luis Obispo f
or over a decade while giving it new life for the next generation of shopp
ers\,” says Veronica Tagre\, co-owner of The Haven.  In the coming week
s\, the store will be operating under the same name but will gradually cha
nge the store into what they do best—curated secondhand and vintage! Dur
ing this transition\, the store will remain open\, and we’re excited to
share that the current Manager Krysten Clark will remain in place along wi
th her team. As The Haven works to refresh the store and bring in new inve
ntory in the coming weeks\, significant markdowns are underway on current
merchandise for a limited time\, so you’ll want to stop by to pick up so

DESCRIPTION:Table reservations $75\, monte@thesirenmorrobay.com – Scott
Cooper & the Rosebud Band is a side project of China Cats guitarist Scott
Cooper\, whose penchant for playing Grateful Dead music is matched by his
talent for songwriting. The New Times said\, “The singer-songwriter deli
vers thoughtful\, literate tunes that stick with you\,” while New Orlean
s’ Offbeat magazine called them “a well-oiled roots/jam band” and ad
ded “he can write material worthy of the bands he loves.” The band pla
ys a mix of originals and covers from the Dead\, Dylan\, Beatles\, etc. Co
oper’s first CD reached #5 on the national jam band radio charts and his
subsequent three other CD are KPIG standards including the hit song “Gh
osts of La Honda.” Lead guitarist Fred Rodriguez and bassist Andy Birche
tt are also familiar to SLO music lovers from their old band Three-Legged
Dawg. Rounding out the band are former Dark Star Orchestra drummer Mark Co
rsolini and pianist Lachlan “Citizen” Kane.\nBring your dancing shoes

As The Haven works to refresh the store and bring in new inve
ntory in the coming weeks\, significant markdowns are underway on current
merchandise for a limited time\, so you’ll want to stop by to pick up so
me sweet finds! Follow @fredandbettys and @thehaven_ag on Instagram to sta

DESCRIPTION:When the Deslondes recorded their new covers album\, they didn
’t want to simply exalt their heroes and catalog their influences. They
wanted to give their friends a boost as well. The poignant and powerful Do
n’t Let It Die Vol. 1 includes new interpretations of old songs by artis
ts who’ve guided the band for years\, including Swamp Dogg\, Johnny Cash
\, and Clifton Chenier\, alongside new songs by peers\, tourmates\, and co
llaborators\, including Nick Woods\, Pat Reedy\, and the Kernel. “We hav
e so many friends who are songwriters\, and we just love their music so mu
ch\,” says John James Tourville\, who plays guitar and occasionally the
fiddle. “Riley and Dan are always kicking around awesome\, inspiring old
songs for us to do\, but for this album we really wanted to do some frien
d songs\, too.” \nDon’t Let It Die maps out a community of likeminded
musicians given to hopping trains\, crowding tour vans\, and blurring the
lines between styles and scenes. “These songs are very much a close part
of our lives\,” says Riley Downing\, who sings and usually plays guitar
. “They’re all part of our circle\, this big organism that keeps influ
encing itself. It’s mysterious\, though\, which musicians get heard and
which ones don’t. I think we’re in a good position to tip our cap to t
he friends we look up to\, and hopefully it will benefit our buddies. Hope
fully this album will encourage people to go down those rabbit holes.”

irty Rotten Imbeciles (often abbreviated and referred to as D.R.I.) are
an American crossover thrash band that formed in Houston\, Texas in 19
82 and would later relocate to San Francisco\, California. The band is cu
rrently composed of two of its founding members\, lead vocalist Kurt Brec
ht and guitarist Spike Cassidy\, as well as bassist Greg Orr and drummer
Danny Walker. \nD.R.I. never gained a mainstream audience\, but the integr
ation of their hardcore punk roots with thrash metal influences was a
stylistic catalyst for their contemporaries – most notably Suicidal T
endencies\, Corrosion of Conformity\, Stormtroopers of Death\, the Cro-
 Mags\, Nuclear Assault\, Adrenalin O.D.\, and Cryptic Slaughter – a
longside whom they are considered to be one of the major pioneers of what
would later be called “crossover thrash”. These bands had a heavy infl
uence on modern thrash metal. \nAs of 2026\, D.R.I. has released seven ful
l-length studio albums. Other than three new songs on the 2016 EP But Wai
 t… There’s More!\,[2] they have not released a full-length studio alb
um since Full Speed Ahead in 1995. Despite this\, the band has continued
to tour almost every year\, and gone on hiatus intermittently\, notably b
etween 2004 and 2009\, when Cassidy was diagnosed with colon cancer. Since
the late 1990s\,[3] D.R.I. has been working on their eighth full-length
 studio album\, which remains unreleased.

DESCRIPTION:Tables reservations $100/Email monte@thesirenmorrobay.com \nMi
ckey Avalon’s life story plays out like an episode of VH1′s ‘Behind
The Music\,” marred by personal tragedy\, triumphs and immense pain. Av
alon’s back-story begins on the streets of Hollywood\, California.  Rai
sed by his heroin-addicted father\, he began selling pot at a young age\,
a trade he acquired from his mother. In an attempt to clean up his act\, M
ickey converted to Orthodox Judaism in his late teens\, an effort that did
n’t last due to constant family tragedy\, such as his father’s death i
n a tragic drunk driving accident. \nBy his early 20s\, Mickey had married
 \, had a daughter\, and moved out of California\, relocating to Portland\,
Oregon.  The serine surroundings of the Pacific Northwest couldn’t hid
e Mickey from his past for long\, as his drug addled Hollywood lifestyle c
aught up with him in the form of an uncontrollable heroin addiction.  As
his life neared rock bottom\, Mickey found himself broke\, divorced\, and
turning to prostitution\, just to support his smack habit. With a desire t
o once again get his life back on track\, Avalon moved in with his sister\
, and the pair set out on the road to recovery. Tragedy struck again when
his sister relapsed\, and died from a heroin overdose. \n\nAfter the death
s of both his father and sister\, Mickey decided that he wanted more out o
f life\, moved back to Los Angeles\, and chose to make one final attempt t
o clean up his act.  Shortly after his return\, Mickey was befriended by
ex-MTV VJ Simon Rex (aka Dirt Nasty)\, who encouraged Avalon to pursue his
passion of hip-hop and even collaborated with him on some tracks. At the
time\, Avalon was staying in a sober living facility and had a strict curf
ew\, so Dirt Nasty began passing out Mickey’s demo at Hollywood clubs\,
which helped Mickey develop a following among fans of the Los Angeles nigh
tclub scene. \nAs Mickey’s popularity grew\, he began to sell out clubs
throughout California with his legendary live show. Soon after Interscope
Records took notice of the guerilla promotions tactics and signed Avalon t
o the label in 2005. Through Interscope\, Avalon released his now classic
self-titled debut album\, which showcased his unique rhyming style and ind
ulgent lyrics. Inspired by his experiences on the streets with drugs and p
rostitution\, the raw honesty of his songs immediately resonated with audi
ences. Fan favorites “Jane Fonda\,” “Mr. Right” and “My Dick”
quickly spread across the internet and mainstream radio\, turning Mickey A
valon into a household name. Avalon quickly took to the road and was perfo
rming sold-out shows alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers\, Travis Barker a
nd DJ AM\, Snoop Dogg\, Stephen Marley and Slightly Stoopid. \nMickey’s
contagious demeanor and unique writing style has made him a hot commodity
in the music industry as hip-hop artist Young Jeezy and producer Jermaine
Dupri jumped at the chance to collaborate with him for a Boost Mobile comm
ercial.  Avalon then joined forces with rock acts the Happy Mondays\, and
Unwritten Law\, with whom he co-wrote the radio hit “Shoulda Known Bett
er”. His music has been featured in countless movies and television seri
es including the HBO’s series Hung\, the animated series American Dad\,
the Duke Nukem Forever video game\, Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanam
o Bay and most recently in the trailers for the Cameron Diaz film “Bad T
 eacher.”

iversary of HOKA\, the landmark album that helped define a movement rooted
in healing\, empowerment\, and connection. In honor of the anniversary\,
Nahko has re-recorded the entire album — revisiting\, reimagining\, and
breathing new life into the songs while keeping the medicine at the heart
of them intact. The re-recordings will be released in conjunction with the
tour dates. Audiences can expect an evening of community\, storytelling\,
healing\, and musical time travel\, featuring renewed versions of fan fav
orites like “Tus Pies\,” “Love Letters to God\,” “Make a Change\
,” “Runner\,” and other beloved deep cuts from the album. As the voi
ce behind Nahko and Medicine for the People\, Nahko has built a global fol
lowing through music grounded in resilience\, accountability\, and collect
ive restoration. Drawing from Native\, Filipino\, and Puerto Rican heritag
e\, his work channels lived experience into songs that continue to inspire
growth\, truth\, and transformation. Now fully independent\, Nahko contin
ues to revisit and reclaim his catalog while forging a new chapter defined
by authenticity\, renewal\, and the enduring belief that music is medicin
 e. \n\n \nLouyah is gaining lots of buzz from a viral Tik Tok video wher
e his friends surprise him by playing “I Used To Care” on the radio. T
he video has accumulated more than 6.3 million views and has warmed the he
arts of many\, including our own. The song was written as a response to th
e emotions that Louyah was feeling from a recent breakup. The chorus reads
“I never thought it’d need to be so hard to say I love you. Now you
’re gone\, my heart\, forever calls.” Through hearing these lyrics\, i
t is hard not to sympathize with feelings of a lost love. \nAll in all\, L
ouyah uses his voice and lo-fi pop sound to tell his stories about life an
d love. Watch below to see Louyah’s live performance of “I Used To Car
e” and feel his raw emotion through each note.

DESCRIPTION:Free show 21+ \nMoon Darling is a psychedelic rock band origi
nally bred in Seattle and later based in Los Angeles. Formed by guitarist
and vocalist Michael Julian Escobar and drummer Michelle Nuño\, the group
blends 1970s-style muscular psych-rock with dreamy\, bohemian and nostalg
ic grooves. \n\n \nThe progressive\, more than dreamy\, bohemian psych roc
k exuberance of “Welcome Back”\, by Seattle bred / Los Angeles based p
sych rockers Moon Darling\, cuts a wide swathe of layered\, cross-generati
onal sonic mysticism. At least that is what I am feeling\, bold tightly wo
und musicality that feels birthed from late 70’s classic blues rock bop
colliding with heavy metal psychedelia and those harmonic minor scales tha
t feel potently raga middle eastern during the musical bridge. The song go
es full circle\, artistically tribal on a global scale and so potently gro
unded in alluvial soil. All the attitudinal artistry here is compelling\,
from the mellotron-esque drones\, Eliza Karpel’s savage bass lines\, fu
nky organ downbeats\, the incredible guitar work and the swing and sway of
guitarist extraordinaire Michael Julian’s high register vocal potency.
So cool\, so impactful. \n\nFrom the Los Angeles duo’s upcoming sophomo
re full length “Hearts To Blame”\, due out September 25\, 2026.\n\nLIN
ER NOTES (excerpted / bracketed):\n\n\n[Rooted in the relentless emotional
swings of seasonal depression during the band’s time in the Pacific Nor
thwest\, “Welcome Back” captures the disorienting rhythm of extreme hi
ghs and lows. Its signature guitar trill and lick draws directly from voca
list and guitarist Michael Julian’s deep admiration for Spaghetti Wester
n cinema and the iconic film scores of Ennio Morricone. This influence len
ds the track an appropriately distinctive cinematic sweep as the video was
shot entirely using Kodak Charmera Keychain Digital Cameras. \n“There w
as something really attractive and fun about the simplicity of this camera
\, and the vibes and aesthetic of the track\,” said the band. “It real
ly packs a punch with the quality\, and we thought it would be an authenti
c way to capture each other’s POV in real life\, sans phones.”]\n\n\n-

DESCRIPTION:San Luis Obispo Exploring Adventure\n**Explore. Observe. Disco
ver.**\n\nFew hikes in North America reveal such a dramatic transformation
of landscape\, climate\, and life in a single continuous ascent. Beginnin
g beneath the light of a nearly full moon near the desert floor of Palm Sp
rings\, we will climb nearly two vertical miles through one of Southern Ca
lifornia’s most remarkable natural gradients before reaching the alpine
landscape of San Jacinto Peak.\n\nThe journey begins in the warmth of the
desert night and unfolds gradually through changing environments as elevat
ion reshapes the world around us. Moonlit desert gives way to the first si
gns of dawn\, and as sunlight spreads across the Coachella Valley below\,
we continue upward into cooler mountain air. By sunrise\, we have crossed
remarkable transitions—from desert to mountain\, from darkness to light\
, and from one ecosystem to another.\n\nAs we gain elevation\, we will exp
erience a living transition shaped by geology\, climate\, and altitude. De
sert vegetation gradually gives way to chaparral-covered slopes and eventu
ally to the cool conifer forests surrounding San Jacinto Peak. Along the w
ay\, we will observe how elevation influences temperature\, vegetation\, w
ildlife\, weather\, and even our own physiology.\n\nMore than a summit cli
mb\, this is an opportunity to experience the interconnected story of Eart
h and Life across a single mountainside—a journey through changing lands
 capes\, ecosystems\, and perspectives.\n\n**Timing and Conditions**\nBy be
ginning in the evening\, we aim to take advantage of cooler temperatures d
uring the desert ascent while experiencing the unique atmosphere of a moon
lit climb. Saturday\, October 24\, 2026\, was intentionally selected to im
prove the probability of favorable conditions\, including cooler temperatu
res\, clearer skies\, reduced thunderstorm risk\, minimal snow or ice\, an
d the opportunity to experience the mountain beneath a nearly full moon.\n
\nMountain weather remains unpredictable\, and safety will guide the final
decision. The hike may be postponed or canceled if forecasts indicate con
ditions that significantly increase risk\, including excessive heat\, stro
 ng winds\, thunderstorms\, snow\, ice\, or other hazardous conditions.\n\n
 **Route and Challenge**\nDistance: Approximately 21 miles\nElevation Gain:
Approximately 10\,800 feet\n\nCactus to Clouds is an exceptionally strenu
ous endurance hike requiring excellent physical fitness\, strong cardiovas
cular conditioning\, and experience with long mountain outings. The combin
ation of sustained climbing\, significant elevation gain\, darkness\, and
high altitude makes this one of Southern California’s most demanding hik
ing challenges.\n\nParticipants should be prepared for a long day of physi
cal and mental endurance while managing changing temperatures\, fatigue\,
 hydration\, nutrition\, and altitude.\n\n**Group Culture**\nWe enjoy explo
ring beautiful natural places while developing a deeper understanding of t
he landscapes around us.\n\nOur outings are guided by the spirit of Geo-Bi
o Exploring: observing the relationships between geology\, biology\, clima
te\, and the human experience. We explore not simply to reach destinations
\, but to better understand the remarkable systems that shape the places w
 e visit.\n\nWe value preparation\, fitness\, curiosity\, collaboration\, s
elf-awareness\, and respect for both nature and fellow hikers.\n\nIf you e
njoy exploring beautiful natural places\, value health\, fitness\, and agi
lity\, and feel this hiking style and group culture resonate with you\, we
welcome your interest in joining us.\n\n**Please Bring**\n\n* Sufficient
water for a full day of strenuous hiking (typically 4–6 liters depending
on personal needs and conditions)\n* Food and snacks sufficient for a lon
g endurance effort\n* Reliable headlamp with fresh batteries (backup light
recommended)\n* Personal first aid kit\, including blister care supplies
and any personal medications or emergency items you may need\n* Navigation
app with downloaded offline maps (such as Gaia GPS\, CalTopo\, AllTrails\
, or similar)\n* Fully charged phone and backup battery\n* Warm layers for
the upper mountain\n* Gloves\, hat\, and wind protection\n* Sturdy hiking
footwear\n* Trekking poles (optional but recommended)\n\nParticipants sho
uld be comfortable using their own navigation tools and should not rely so
lely on following the group. Every hiker should be prepared to make inform
ed decisions regarding their own safety throughout the journey.\n\n**Perso
nal Responsibility**\nEach participant is responsible for evaluating their
  own fitness\, health\, equipment\, experience\, and preparedness before j
oining this hike.\nPlease hike within your own limits\, communicate openly
if conditions change\, and make thoughtful decisions throughout the outin
 g.\n\n**Acknowledgment of Risk**\nBy participating\, you acknowledge that
hiking and mountain travel involve inherent risks\, including extreme phys
 ical exertion\, dehydration\, heat illness\, altitude-related illness\, ch
 anging weather\, darkness\, uneven terrain\, slips\, falls\, rockfall\, wi
ldlife\, and other natural hazards.\nParticipation is voluntary\, and each
participant accepts responsibility for their own decisions\, safety\, and
  well-being throughout the hike.

a peaceful stroll to Sycamore’s Yoga Dome. Leave behind the hustle and
bustle of daily life\, immerse yourself in nature’s tranquility\, and re
align yourself with the moon. \nEach month’s ritual features a gentle yo
ga class\, immersive sound bath\, and unique moon-inspired practice. No tw
o Full Moon Rituals are exactly the same — each one is uniquely shaped b
y the intention of that month’s moon\, creating a purposeful experience
every time you join. \n\nRESERVE YOUR SPOT NOWEACH MONTH’S RITUAL INCLUD
ES: \n60MIN GENTLE YOGA FLOW – \nEach session begins with a yoga class
guided by meditation and breathwork. Ground your energy and allow the powe
r of the full moon to power your movement. All yoga levels are welcome and
encouraged! \n30MIN SOUND BATH – \nAfter the yoga class\, find stillne
ss and ease into a healing sound bath session! \nWhat is a sound bath?\nA
sound bath is a meditative experience where you are enveloped in soothing
vibrations from harmonic instruments like singing bowls. These vibrations
penetrate deeply into your body to help release tension\, reduce stress\,
and promote healing on physical\, emotional\, and spiritual levels. \nMOON
-INSPIRED PRACTICE – \nEach month includes a special guided moon-inspir
ed activity or practice designed to align you with the unique energy and i
ntention of that month’s full moon. \nThroughout the year\, each moon ca
rries its own meaning and themes – ranging from spring renewal in April\
, to autumn release in September\, and more. Each moon provides a differen
t opportunity to connect with the changing seasons of nature and life. \nT
he Full Moon Wellness Ritual invites you to align with the rhythms of natu
re and yourself through this transformative experience under the moonlit s
 ky. \n\nAbout October’s “Hunter’s Moon” \nThis moon has a fascinat
ing history tied to both agriculture and survival for communities to prepa
re for winter before artificial lighting was common. \nThe Hunter’s Moon
  represents readiness\, foresight\, and resourcefulness. It’s a time to
assess what’s needed for the coming months\, gather strength\, and plan
for survival and abundance. \nThe crisp\, autumnal light of this moon als
 o signals a shift inward\, encouraging reflection\, strategy\, and prepara
tion. It invites us to reflect on our goals\, release what no longer serve
s us\, and prepare emotionally and physically for the season ahead.

DESCRIPTION:Table reservations $100\, email monte@thesirenmorrobay.com –
Country artist Jay Webb writes songs that hit like a gut punch. Raised be
tween the backroads of North Alabama and the city in the south\, music was
how he made sense of the chaos around him. What started as a way to proce
ss a turbulent childhood quickly became his purpose — gritty storytellin
g over genre-blurring beats\, delivered with zero filter. He started cutti
ng demos in high school and never stopped\, releasing track after track on
his own and building a following from the ground up. His lyrics cut deep\
, his voice carries the scars and his sound refuses to stay in one lane. W
ebb doesn’t clean up the mess — he leans into it\, and has a good time
doing it. \nPulling from a wide range of influences\, he pairs the weight
of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams with the edge of Juice WRLD and Post Mal
one. It’s not traditional country — and he doesn’t want it to be. He
calls it “music for real people with real problems\,” and his fans kn
ow exactly what that means. In 2022\, a viral TikTok pushed his music to a
wider audience. Since then\, he’s dropped standout tracks like “Down
Here\,” “Bury Me With Bourbon” and “Broken\,” racking up over 41
5M streams and more than 2M fans. \n\nGold record and Billboard #1 with St
ruggle Jennings on “God We Need You Now”\, Caitlynne Curtis is a Nashv
ille singer songwriter whose powerhouse voice and candid songwriting bridg
e modern country and soulful storytelling. Her new album digs into faith\,
heartbreak and the raw everyday life struggles\, carried by big hooks and
amazing stories. Raised in a small town and road tested onstage\, Curtis
writes songs for late night drives and full rooms and has earned both crit
ical attention and a devoted fan base.
