DESCRIPTION:Togas\, temples\, hydraulic engineering\, winemaking\, and eve
n “Roman” numerals\, all widely credited to the Romans\, were actually
Etruscan innovations. The Etruscans thrived in what is now Italy for almo
st a millennium\, from around 900 to 100 BC\, before the rise of the Roman
Empire. They laid the foundation for present-day architecture\, engineeri
ng\, and artistic achievements. Yet their culture remains overshadowed by
ancient Greece and Rome. Drawing on the latest archaeological discoveries
and cutting-edge scholarship\, this is the most comprehensive exhibition o
n Etruscan culture in the United States to date. \nInfo & Tickets

er work across sculpture\, performance\, video\, and installation from the
early 1970s to the present. Hassinger’s work addresses social and cultu
ral issues through an awareness of interconnectedness\, ephemerality\, and
relationships between humans and the natural world. These themes emphasiz
e the importance of caring for the things we share in contrast to the thin
gs that divide us. The exhibition will survey Hassinger’s expansive care

DESCRIPTION:Mildred Howard: Poetics of Memory is the first major museum ex
hibition to celebrate the work of the beloved Bay Area artist. Spanning Ho
ward’s five-decade practice\, the exhibition brings together her renowne
d collages\, found-object sculptures and immersive installations exploring
memory\, identity and the African American experience. \nNew and never-be
fore-seen pieces appear alongside archival materials from Howard’s Oakla
nd studio\, illuminating the cultural currents and lived experiences that
shape her practice. Born in San Francisco and raised in Berkeley\, Howard
has drawn on textiles\, African Diasporic dance\, personal history and col
lective memory throughout her career. \nHer monumental public artworks acr
oss the Bay Area have highlighted often-overlooked histories\, from the Bl
ack shipworkers of Hunters Point to the musicians who defined San Francisc
o jazz. Poetics of Memory invites visitors to consider how personal memory
and collective history intertwine. \n(Check organizer/venue website to co

DESCRIPTION:Out of Line Art at the Edge Bruce NaumanBruce Nauman\, Dance o
r Exercise on the Perimeter of a Square (Square Dance)\, 1967–68. Black-
 and-white video with sound\, transferred from 16 mm film\, 8:24 min. Court
esy of Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI)\, New York. © 2026 Bruce Nauman / A
rtists Rights Society (ARS)\, New York. \nWhat happens when the artist’s
studio spills out into the world? And when the world necessarily makes it
s way into the studio? In the 1960s\, ’70s\, and ’80s\, as political a
nd cultural upheavals reverberated across the country\, artists at UC Davi
 s navigated these questions. \nBruce Nauman (M. A. ’66) taped a square o
n the ground of his studio and filmed himself walking around the perimeter
during the winter of 1967–68. \nThis exhibition takes his square as a f
ormal provocation to investigate the boundaries of the artist studio\, spe
cifically drawing on Nauman’s deployment of the perimeter as a site of a
ctivity. Mike Henderson\, Ester Hernandez\, Malaquías Montoya\, Bruce Nau
man\, Nancy Rubins\, Dorothy Wiley and the student artists of UC Davis’
Third World Forum engage with film\, print and performance—cheap\, acces
sible mediums that allowed for experimentation\, iteration and easy dissem
ination. Through these frameworks\, Out of Line challenges the arbitrary l
ine that declares certain practices “artistic” and others “political
.” Curated by Ginny Duncan\, assistant curator\, and Grace Xiao\, curato
rial assistant. \n(Check organizer/venue website to confirm event details.

DESCRIPTION:DWIGHT ESCHLIMAN | Excerpts from the One Day Project\nMichelle
Thomas Fine Art Gallery + Studio invites you to ONE DAY by photographer D
wight Eschliman\, on view now\, with an exhibition reception on Friday\, O
 ctober 23\, 5–7 pm. \nEschliman’s latest project catalogs time.\nEach
day consists of 24 hours. Each hour\, 60 minutes. Each minute\, 60 seconds
. For each execution\, the artist photographs one static point in the sky
every second for 24 consecutive hours. Each of these 86\,400 photographs t
hen becomes a pixel in a larger composition. \nThe finished pieces are pro
duced in sizes from 18 to 72 inches and include one-hour and 24-hour time
spans. The project includes over 100 editioned pieces from four continents
. \nEschliman’s depiction of each second of a day at once abstracts and
reinterprets it\, offering a fresh perspective on place and the passage of
time. \nThe ONE DAY project has appeared in the American Photography AP40
contest and the Communication Arts 2024 Interactive Annual. It will appea
r in American Photography AP42 later this year. Works from the collection
are held in private and institutional collections\, most notably at the MD
Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. \nOn view through November 2\, 2026.\n
Dwight Eschliman has been working out of his studio in San Francisco’s S
OMA neighborhood for the last twenty years. His work is rooted in his fasc
ination with the familiar. He dissects and explores ordinary objects in ex
traordinary detail\, his passion for close examination earning him a reput
ation as a master of capturing beauty hidden within the mundane. His work
has appeared in The New York Times Magazine\, National Geographic\, WIRED
and in campaigns for Absolut\, Apple\, Audi\, and other companies whose na
mes do not begin with the letter “A.” \nCalendar – Bernal Heights an

\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe American Indian Cultural District (AICD)\, with suppor
t from Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture (FMCAC)\, presents new mural c
ommissions by artists Brittany Burrows and Jewelina Acosta. Depicting vege
tation and wildlife from the land and water\, the artists highlight the im
portance of Indigenous knowledge and traditional practices in maintaining
ecological balance and human well-being. By recognizing the interconnected
ness of all life forms and the importance of preserving biodiversity\, the
ir work points to a more harmonious and sustainable future for generations
to come. \n\n\n\nIn We are the Land: Between Earth & Sky\, Brittany Burr
ows highlights the parallels between endangered butterfly species and the
struggles of Indigenous communities. Both are deeply connected to the land
and face threats to their survival due to various factors\, including hab
itat loss\, environmental degradation\, and cultural assimilation. \n\n\n\
n“Land stewardship and sovereignty are indeed crucial for preserving Ind
igenous ways of life and ensuring the continued thriving of both human and
non-human communities. By respecting Indigenous rights to their ancestral

 s. Brittany is a self-taught artist who specializes in black-and-white por

elina Acosta is from a small non-federally recognized tribe named Yokaia

ner of Inkdigenous Tattoo\, which brings forward and makes room for her tr

\n\n\n\nEchoing the historic track inside FMCAC’s campus\, the railroad-

s and arcs for visitors to sit or walk through. Tied / Untied is abstract
but looks vaguely familiar\, possibly referencing its surroundings throug

form gestures to the material and history of Fort Mason and the San Franci

in\, B.A\, M. Div. Yale University in a seminar series focusing on Transfi
gured Hope & Love. We’ll explore how Jesus invites us to be not admirers

rn to hope as he hoped and love as he loved.  Just as Jesus was transfigu
red on Mt. Carmel\, revealing his true nature as both fully human and full
y divine\, so our concepts of hope and love are transfigured when we follo
w him closely. These practice groups will offer images\, words\, sentences
and exercises that teach us to imitate Jesus and so have our hope and lov
 e transfigured. \nDuncan Hall\, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church\, 1123 Court

DESCRIPTION:Time: 3rd Saturday of the month from 9am to 11am. \nWhere to M
eet: Meet at the top of the stairs on Esplanade Avenue next to Oceanair
 e Apartments (100 Esplanade Ave\, Pacifica\, CA).\nParking: Street parkin
g only along Esplanade Avenue. There are no parking lots in the area. If i
t’s a great surfing or fishing day\, you may find parking up on Bill Dra
ke Way or Palmetto Avenue (one block walk from the cleanup site).\nCleanup
Areas: We’ll focus on the bluffs\, Coastal Trail parklet to the south\,
and the nearby streets\, where lots of litter and debris collects befor
e the wind blows it into the ocean. Our goal is to pick it up before that
happens! When the trail down to the beach is accessible we will cover as m
uch of the beach as the tides allow.\nSupplies: Volunteers are encouraged
to bring their own buckets and reusable gloves. Extra gloves and buckets f
or this site cleanup will be provided while supplies last. Because we are
never sure of the weather\, make sure to bring extra layers\, a hat\, sun
 block\, water and snacks.\nLitter:  Bottles\, cans\, wrappers\, packing s
traps\, cigarette butts\, and plenty of debris can be found on Manor and
Esplanade Streets above the bluff as well as on the bluff.  Esplanade Bea
ch when accessible receives a lot of styrofoam and plastic (huge chunks to
micro size) from the ocean. Improperly-disposed litter includes bottles\,
candy wrappers\, and dog duty bags.\nRestrooms: The closest restroom to
the cleanup location is located inside the Chit Chat Café several blocks
away from our meeting location (remember to pick up a coffee\, tea or muf
fin when there)! \nMore details:  https://www.pacificbeachcoalition.org/n

DESCRIPTION:Fall 2026 at Z Below\n(470 Florida St. SF)\nSaturdays\, Sept 5
 \, 12\, 19\, 26 | 10am–12pm\n$200 for all 4 classes \nFor the adventurou
 s\, curious\, playful\, and brave. \nIn this four-session workshop\, stude
nts explore stories\, poems\, and songs through Word for Word’s playful\
, one-of-a-kind performance style\, bringing to life the words of Jack Pre
lutsky\, Sandra Cisneros\, Shel Silverstein\, and more. Along the way\, th
ey’ll build the confidence to dig into literature\, honor an author’s
voice\, and make bold\, imaginative choices\, all while developing the tea
mwork skills that turn any room into a place for adventure and joy. The cl
ass culminates in a casual performance of a story or poem\, chosen from cl
assic and contemporary children’s literature. \nThis is an all-levels cl
ass. Whether your child is new to acting or experienced\, they’ll find W
ord for Word a unique style that’s easy to practice and fun to learn. \n
 Class Details\n 4 classes\, 2 hours each — $200 total (space is limit
 ed)\n Ages 9–12\n Saturdays\, 10am–12pm\, Sept 5–26\n Analy
 ze literature through Who\, What\, When\, Where\, and Why\n Build core
 acting skills: public speaking\, teamwork\, decision-making\n Express c
haracter through adjectives and action through verbs\n Work as an ensem
ble to help bring an author’s voice to life \nWhat is the “Word for Wo
rd Style”?\n We bring books to life onstage\, word for word. Plays are w
ritten for the stage\, but stories and poems are written to be imagined\,
so performing them challenges young actors to stay emotionally flexible an
d inventive\, following the author wherever the words go\, sometimes all i
n one paragraph. \nPlay is how we grow. Come play\, create\, and grow with
  Word for WordPLAY.

50 Years\, Indigenous Futures Presented By Haines Gallery\n\n\n\nAs the U.
 S. marks its 250th anniversary\, Haines Gallery presents 250 Years\, Indi
genous Futures\, a group exhibition centering the work of leading Native A
merican artists. While occasioned by this anniversary\, 250 Years\, Indig
enous Futures does not commemorate it.  \n\n\n\n\n\nABOVE: Haines Galler

 isco. Photo: Shaun Roberts\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEVENT DETAILS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\
n250 Years\, Indigenous Futures takes its title from the writings of Stand
ing Rock Sioux historian Philip J. Deloria and his colleagues\, who argue
that Native peoples should be understood not primarily through the past\,
but “through the lens of futurity.” Indigenous knowledge\, they write\
, is not peripheral to contemporary life but generative of new ways of und
erstanding it. In this spirit\, the exhibition considers Native presence a
nd creativity as powerful forces shaping our collective future. \n\n\n\nTh
e artists in the exhibition are: Victoria Grace Canby (Diné [Navaho])\;Jo
rdan Ann Craig (Northern Cheyenne)\; Sky Hopinka (Ho-Chunk Nation / Pechan
ga Band of Luiseño Indians)\; Brad Kahlhamer (Indigenous ancestry)\; Terr
an Last Gun (Piikani / Blackfoot)\; Jamie Okuma (Luiseño\, Shoshone-Banno
ck\, Wailaki\, Okinawan\, and La Jolla)\; Wendy Red Star (Apsáalooke [Cro
w])\; and Keith Secola (Northern Ute / Anishinaabe). Working across paint
 ing\, drawing\, sculpture\, film\, and photography\, these artists engage
contemporary culture\, Nation-specific visual traditions\, and personal hi
stories in distinct and expansive ways. \n\n\n\n\n\nRather than commemorat
ing the 250th U.S. anniversary\, the exhibition recognizes 1776 as only on
e moment within much longer histories of Indigenous presence\, adaptation\
, and sovereignty. Creating space for artists to define their own terms of
engagement\, the exhibition aims to bring forward concerns central to the
ir practices. The works on view draw inspiration from a vivid range of sou
rces: boldly painted Piikani lodges\; the precise geometry of Northern Che
yenne beadwork\; the Indians of All Tribes’ occupation of Alcatraz\; car
s adorned with blankets and regalia for the annual Crow Fair\; blood-soake
d horror films\; and archival photographs whose subjects meet the visitor
’s gaze. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition is informed by Apsáalooke artist Wendy
Red Star’s caution against a “foe-based” framing of Native art –
one that risks tethering meaning to resistance alone and obscuring the s
pecificity of Nations\, histories\, and individual practices. Here\, each
artist’s work emerges from particular relationships to language\, land\,
and material culture. No single framework can contain these worlds. \n\n\
 n\n\n\n\nAbout the Artists\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVictoria Grace Canby (Diné\, b. 1
 978\, Albuquerque\, NM). Marin-based artist Victoria Grace Canby’s new w
orks on paper\, created for the exhibition\, depict the Three Sisters –
  corn\, beans\, and squash – as a living model of resilience\, healing
\, and collective care that connects Indigenous Peoples throughout the Ame
ricas. “Through fostering our connection to these plants’ powers\,”
Canby notes\, “we can overcome the impacts of colonization.” \n\n\n\nJ
ordan Ann Craig (Northern Cheyenne\, b. 1992\, San Jose\, CA). Jordan Ann
Craig’s paintings draw from references ranging from Northern Cheyenne be
adwork and quillwork to the postwar abstraction of Agnes Martin\, all of w
hich she translates into exacting\, poetic fields of color and form. In wo
rks such as “Miss Your Musk” (2024)\, Craig foregrounds Indigenous abs
traction as a living and evolving practice – one capable of holding per
sonal narrative\, formal experimentation\, and cultural continuity without
being reduced to any single source or meaning. \n\n\n\nSky Hopinka (Ho-Ch
 unk Nation/Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians\; b. 1984\, Ferndale\, WA). S
ky Hopinka’s film Sunflower Siege Engine (2022) brings together distinct
Indigenous sites and histories\, connecting the Indians of All Tribes’
occupation of nearby Alcatraz Island (1969–1971) with Illinois’ Cahoki
a Mounds\, one of the largest pre-contact urban centers in North America a
nd a site from which ancestral remains continue to be repatriated. \n\n\n\
nBrad Kahlhamer (Native American ancestry\; b. 1956\, Tucson\, AZ). Painte
 d in acrylic\, ink\, and pencil on a bedsheet\, “Pima Air + Space” (20
 25) belongs to Kahlhamer’s recent “dream sheet” paintings. Its title
  recalls Arizona’s Pima Air & Space Museum\, while birds\, horses\, mask
ed figures\, and a spectral presence drift through an aurora borealis of s
aturated color. \n\n\n\n\n\nTerran Last Gun\, Saakwaynaamah’kaa (Last Gu
 n) (Piikani / Blackfoot\; b. 1989\, Browning\, MT on the Blackfeet Nation
Reservation). Inspired by the bold geometric designs of Piikani painted lo
dges\, Terran Last Gun has created a suite of works for the exhibition: pr
ecise compositions on vintage ledger paper that bring ancestral forms\, co
lonial records\, and the ongoing vitality of Indigenous abstraction into c
 harged relation. \n\n\n\nJamie Okuma (Luiseño\, Shoshone-Bannock\, Wailak
 i\, Okinawan\, and La Jolla\; b. 1977\, Glendale\, CA). In “Of Love and
Sacrifice: Motherhood” (2026)\, Jamie Okuma deploys her signature single
-stitch beadwork to transform a brain-tanned deerskin handbag into a dazzl
ing portrayal of two figures from Luca Guadagnino’s horror film Suspiria
(2018). Drawing bracing cinematic imagery into dialogue with exacting Pay
ómkawichum (Luiseño) beadwork techniques\, Okuma conjures the selfless a
 nd steadfast power of maternal love. \n\n\n\nWendy Red Star (Apsáalooke\;
  b. 1981\, Billings\, MT). Wendy Red Star’s works from “The (HUD)” s
eries focus on the colorful facades of houses built through the U.S. Depar
tment of Housing and Urban Development on Montana’s Apsáalooke (Crow) r
eservation\, where the artist was raised. Though their hues were chosen no
t by residents but by a government agency\, Red Star’s images reveal sig
ns of domestic beauty that exceed the mandates of bureaucracy. \n\n\n\nKei
th Secola (Northern Ute / Anishinaabe\; b. 1988\, Randlett\, UT on the Uin
tah and Ouray Reservation) Keith Secola screen-prints archival portraits o
f Native Americans onto the covers of vintage books\, placing Indigenous p
resence in direct tension with exclusionary narratives of America’s past
. Secola’s images depict subjects who often look directly back at the ca
mera\, meeting its gaze with a quiet intensity that transcends time and ne
gates erasure. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWendy Red Star: “Chiaxxúapilake (Fifty

DESCRIPTION:Whether you’re already keeping bees or simply curious about
what beekeeping involves\, there will be something for you in this worksho
 p. We’ll cover some basics on bees\, the progress of them through the se
asons\, and what to expect as colonies prepare for the chillier\, darker d
ays of winter. We’ll also outline how you can prepare for beekeeping in
2026 if you plan to start your own hive. \nThe class is designed for begin
ners so no prerequisite knowledge is required. You will be able to view be
es in an observation hive during the workshop. \nInstructor Dan DeCuir is
an avid gardener and backyard hen handler who has been keeping bees since
2006. He has been fascinated by social insects since childhood\, when he d
reamed of having a farm. He currently keeps three beehives in San Francisc
o: on a neighbor’s rooftop (at her request)\, at the Park Street Communi
ty Garden\, and at Alemany Farm\, where he has taught beginner beekeeper c
lasses. He is a member of the San Francisco Beekeepers Association\, and o
n the swarm catcher list – his first hive was a re-homed swarm. When not
tending to his bees\, Dan can be found planting vegetables and weeding in
his plot at the Arlington Community Garden\, feeding his backyard chicken
s\, or trying to catch Dungeness crabs at local beaches.

DESCRIPTION:Chanticleer unveils its first fully staged production since it
s landmark Curlew River\, opening a bold new chapter in the ensemble’s a
rtistic evolution. Directed by acclaimed opera visionary Elkhanah Pulitzer
\, the world premiere of The Machaut Project offers an immersive\, visuall
y striking journey into the richly textured medieval world of Guillaume de
Machaut. \nA composer\, poet\, and master of self-invention\, Machaut sto
od at the threshold of modern music\, shaping sound into something endurin
 g. In this staging\, Chanticleer and Pulitzer draw audiences into a realm
of devotion and desire\, where courtly love becomes a meditation on the hu
man heart. Love\, Faith\, and Hope emerge not as abstractions but as vivid
\, living forces. Through elegant restraint and ritualized gesture\, the s
ingers reveal both the beauty of medieval courtship and the vulnerability
beneath it — the universal longing to be seen\, understood\, and loved w
 ithout disguise.

DESCRIPTION:Monthly discussions exploring and enjoying the wonders of choc
olate! Bring curiosity and a chocolate to share! \nVenture with us into th
is endless and delicious topic. \nEach club session is a round table discu
ssion in the Living Room\, at the back tables. \nWhat you bring to the con
versation is curiosity and chocolate to share. Your contribution may be a
 bar or a confection\, a nostalgic favorite\, a sample of a rare cacao\, or
even something you dislike and want to learn more about. Everyone please
bring something to contribute to this beautiful community! \nHere are a fe
w infrequently asked questions about chocolate: \n What actually is cho
colate?\n Why does chocolate resonate so vividly with us in body\, mind
\, and spirit?\n Cacao is called the “Food of the Gods” and is high
ly nutritious. What is science showing us about phytonutrients that benefi
t our health and well-being?\n How might we think about chocolate in co
ntemporary culture and our shared human history? The oldest confirmed evid
ence of cacao use by our ancestors is approximately 5\,000 years ago. Our
history and future with chocolate are worth discussing.\n We have a com
plex language for discussing wine—why not cacao and chocolate? \nWho is
David? \nDavid has fifteen years of professional experience and a lifetime
of enthusiasm for chocolate. As a chocolatier\, he makes delightful creat
ions with amazing chocolate in micro-batches and offers them online and at
farmers markets. His career in chocolate is rooted in pastry and chocolat
 e production. Working with farmers\, researchers\, chocolate makers\, chef
s\, and fellow chocolatiers\, he continually explores and enjoys the cultu
re of chocolate. \nSpace is limited. Please reserve a seat at the table. \

DESCRIPTION:Dive into 25 wild years of Psycho with San Franpsycho’s epic
retrospective — live and in person!\n \n\n\nQuarter Century of Psycho:
A San Franpsycho Retrospective \nSome brands make clothes. SFP made a cult
ure — out of Ocean Beach\, a striped van\, and a city that claimed it as
its own. This is 25 years of that story\, all in one room. Original shirt
 s\, art\, posters\, archival footage\, collabs\, and real stories from the
people whose lives SFP touched along the way. A look back\, and a nod to
everything it took to get here. \nThe centerpiece: a screening of the orig
inal San Franpsycho surf film — the one that started it all — first re
leased on VHS and unseen for over two decades. \nIf you’ve got SFP in yo
ur closet\, tonight’s the night to wear it! Doors open at 7pm. VIP gets
in at 6pm for a first look before the crowd. 8:15pm Live Q&A with the peop
le who made it happen. Screening at 8:45pm\, then we party until midnight.
\n21+ only. Don’t sit this one out! \n \nThis year marks our 25th anniv
ersary of San Franpsycho\, and we’re celebrating with “Quarter Century
of Psycho: A San Franpsycho Retrospective” at 111 Minna Gallery. This e
xhibition brings together 25 years of SFP in one room: original shirts\, a

stories from the people whose lives the brand has touched — from early
designs to memorable collabs and everything in between. The centerpiece of

ourselves to screen-print in a basement\, sold our first shirts out of an
orange-and-black zebra-striped van\, and have spent 25 years making things
alongside the community that made us. Surf\, art\, music\, and community

DESCRIPTION:Tickets: General Admission $30 – https://events.humanitix.co
 m/entre-mucho-machismo-hay-pocos-machos \nEntre Mucho Machismo Hay Pocos M
achos is a dance theater work that tells the story of a Queer Mexican folk
lórico dancer on a journey toward self-love amid a romantic relationship
with a closeted fellow dancer. The work is structured like a traditional
romantic dramedy telenovela – boy meets boy\, boy falls in love with boy
\, boy loses self\, boy loses boy (but finds himself) – and takes place
in the folklorico community\, where normative masculinity continues to be
performed and policed. \nAccessibility: Dance Mission Theater is located o
n the second floor and is accessible by an elevator or approximately 20 st
airs (there is a handrail). If you require wheelchair / limited mobility s
eating\, please choose “wheelchair seating” when picking your ticket.
For other access needs\, please email info@dancemission.com at least 48 ho
urs prior to the show and we will do our best to accomodate. \nParking and
public transportation: Dance Mission Theater is located directly across t
he street from the 24/Mission BART station and is on MUNI Lines 12\, 14\,
49\, 48\, 67\, and 48. If you do decide to drive\, give yourself time to f
ind parking as it can be difficult. The closest parking lot is at 21/Bartl
ett Streets\, about a 5 min walk from the theater.

DESCRIPTION:Travel back to the golden era of the 40s & 50s for one unforge

 KAT COMBO\n📍 Verdi Club – San Francisco\, CA\nSaturday\, September 19
th \nTravel back to the golden era of the 40s & 50s for one unforgettable
night of live mambo\, jazz\, and timeless vibes\nLimited seating available
  \nDoors 8PM | Show 9PM | 21+ \nDon’t miss this one-night-only experienc
e… the music\, the style\, the energy 🔥 \nFrom the vibrant streets of
Los Angeles to the dazzling stages of international tours\, Mambokat’s
journey is a testament to the power of reinvention. \nOvercoming early cha
llenges\, he found solace and strength in dance\, earning scholarships to
prestigious institutions like the Joffrey Ballet. A transformative stint t
ouring with Madonna honed his performance skills\, but his true passion la
y in creating his own music—a signature sound he calls Afro-Cuban Mambo
Jazz. \nNow\, Mambokat is leading a remarkable resurgence of a forgotten m
usical genre and era. With his Angel & The Mambokats 15-piece Mambo-Jazz O
rchestra\, his smaller Mambokat Vibe Combo and his Mighty Mambokat Piano C
ombo he is reanimating musical arrangements not heard live in 60 to 70 yea
rs. He is also creating original compositions and arrangements inspired by
these past and forgotten musical heroes. \nWhat sets Mambokat apart is th
e missing ingredient he adds to this extinct style: the frontman/performer
element. Much like icons such as Cab Calloway\, Sammy Davis Jr\, and Jame
s Brown\, Mambokat fuses physical swagger with the music itself. He presse
s the refresh button on this elegant\, mid-century mambo by guiding you on
how to move to it with his magnetic stage presence and social media examp
les. Rebranding “Mambo Jazz” is his mission. \nMambokat’s story is o
ne of resilience\, artistry\, and a relentless pursuit of creative express
ion\, bringing a vibrant\, forgotten genre back from extinction.
