She has volunteered at Hardberger Park for the past eleven years. Jean’s familiarity with t he park and her approach to inspiring participants to use all their senses to experience the natural world leads participants to experience nature i n new and unexpected ways.\nDuring the walk\, you will be invited to write down your observations in words\, phrases\, and sketches at several stops . Time will be provided to share what is written. Jean will also share a f ew of her and other poets’ works. Please bring something to write with a nd something to write on.\n\n**CHIGGER ALERT:** **Because you will be step ping off the trail you must wear long pants & long-sleeved shirts and use ample repellent.**\n\n**Be sure to bring pad of paper and pens to jot down thoughts\, observations\, and words that come to mind.**\n\nPlease meet b y 7:50 am SHARP to sign up so we can start right at 8:05 am. The walk will be quite short utilizing trails very near the UEC. There will be brief ex periential encounters with nature in the raw and through poetry\; individu al and group processing of observations\, and ample time for participant i nteraction and questions.\n\nMinors only when accompanied by an adult pare nt/guardian. Dogs allowed if leashed and socialized. DIFFICULTY: Easy\, de finitely suitable for families. Flat terrain\, slow-paced. This will only be a one mile walk and last about two hours ending back at the Urban Ecolo gy Center around 10:00 am\n\nThe trail is a natural surface so be sure to wear sturdy shoes and\, dependent on the weather\, bring water\, sun prote ction\, and dress appropriately for the day and season.
