DESCRIPTION:Building on the big questions\, historical thinking\, and reso
 urces introduced in the Content Session\, experienced classroom educators 
 will lead a hands-on workshop focused on applying the inquiry-based instru
 ctional framework that will guide the World History Eras series. Participa
 nts will explore the unit planning template\, examine standards-aligned ap
 proaches to instruction\, and begin developing compelling and supporting q
 uestions that will serve as the foundation for teaching each era. \nAll Pe
 dagogy Sessions will be held via Zoom. Educators who participate in all Pe
 dagogy Sessions will leave the year with a complete World History course a
 ligned to the new social studies standards. \nEducators are encouraged to 
 participate in companion Content Sessions\, which provide the historical c
 ontent and sources that inform instruction for each era. \nThis offering i
 s part of Navigating the World History Eras: Content\, Pedagogy\, and Inqu
 iry in the Classroom\, a yearlong professional learning opportunity presen
 ted by MHC and MDE that supports implementation of Minnesota’s 2021 K–
 12 Academic Standards in Social Studies. \nK-12 Educators will receive 1.5
  clock hours upon completion of the event. \nRegistration\nPedagogy Sessio
 ns are designed for high school World History teachers and may also be rel
 evant for 8th grade educators. Educators are welcome to register for indiv
 idual sessions that align with their interests and schedules. Join us for 
 one or more sessions throughout the year. \nThis event is free\, however r

DESCRIPTION:St. Paul residents can practice the voting process\, register 
 to vote and get answers to election questions during a citywide Voter Educ
 ation Night at participating St. Paul Public Library locations. Presented 
 by the St. Paul City Council\, St. Paul Public Library\, League of Women V
 oters of St. Paul and Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office\, the Consti
 tution Day program is designed to make voting more understandable and appr
 oachable. Hands-on mock polling stations will allow participants to practi
 ce checking in\, marking a sample ballot and casting it in a low-pressure 
 setting. Attendees can also learn how to find trustworthy\, nonpartisan el
 ection information\, research candidates and ballot questions\, request an
 d return absentee ballots and develop a plan for voting.

DESCRIPTION:Join blacksmithing instructors from Chicago Avenue Fire Arts
  Center for an eight-session dive into the basics of blacksmithing at D
 odge’s forge at Shepard Farm! This course is designed to ignite your pas
 sion for blacksmithing and introduce you to the seemingly endless ways
  of shaping iron with fire and hammer. You’ll gain basic knowledge o
 f iron and its characteristics\, an understanding of the dynamics of forgi
 ng using a coal forge\, and the ability to safely shape iron.  \nBy the e
 nd of this class\, you’ll have covered the basic forging processes\,
  including drawing and tapering\, drifting\, punching\, twisting\, and set
 ting shoulders. You’ll develop those skills through projects such as
  quick tongs\, scribe/center punch\, round punch/drift\, basic heat treati
 ng\, hooks\, multi-hook rack\, trivet…and you’ll know what a clink
 er is!  \nAttendance at the first class session is required—impor
 tant safety information will be presented. No experience necessary. Al
 l materials and consumables included in class cost.
