be printed and completely filled out prior to arrival. Single-day waivers
are required at each visit\, unless you are an annual pass holder with a d
igital waiver on file.\n\nDonations are vital to maintaining the Preserve
and offering public outings. Consider donating online or leaving cash or
a check in the donation jar at the registration table. \nThere are 3 trai
l options: \n\nNorth Pond Loop — approximately 3 miles\, mostly shaded.
Can be started no later than 11:30am\nTwo Ponds Loop — 4.5 miles\, mostl
y in open skies. Can be started no later than 11:00am\nBarn Pond Loop —
6 miles\, mixture of open skies and shaded woodland. Can be started no lat

holders can also drop in without pre-registering\, and feel good knowing t
hey are supporting public programs and stewardship of Deer Creek Hills Pre
serve.\nMinors aged 15 and under must be accompanied by a legal guardian t
he entire time they’re on the property. Minors aged 16-17 may visit inde
pendently but still require a signed youth liability waiver from their gua
rdian. If you’re a youth group leader (scoutmaster\, coach\, or similar-
qualified adult chaperone) please contact our staff before registering you
r club.\nThe road to access Deer Creek Hills is not paved and requires cro
ssing Crevis Creek. 4WD and higher clearance vehicles are recommended\, es
pecially in the spring when there is water in Crevis Creek\, but are not r
equired. Visitors who do not want to drive through the creek crossing may
choose to park along the shoulder of Latrobe Road\, cross on foot\, and wa
lk the remaining mile to the trailhead at Eagle Camp Corral. All propertie

orld. \nBrandi Chastain \nBrandi Chastain is an iconic American athlete\,
a retired soccer player\, two-time Olympic gold-medalist\, broadcaster and
two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion. California-born Chastain has
had a fantastic career\, playing professionally for several major teams\,
including Shiroki FC in the Japan Women’s Football League\, the San Jose
CyberRays of the Women’s United Soccer Association\, FC Gold Pride of W
omen’s Professional Soccer\, and California Storm of Women’s Premier S
occer League. Between the 1988 and 2004\, Chastain played for the U.S. Wom
en’s National Team\; it was during this time that the squad won two Olym
pic gold medals and two World Cups. \nIn sports broadcasting\, Chastain ha
s worked as a commentator for soccer matches both with NBC Sports during t
he 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and with ABC/ESPN covering Major League S
occer and the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. A champion of girls’ health
\, Chastain co-founded the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative in 2005 wi
th a mission to create programs and partnerships through which women athle
tes bring health\, hope\, and wholeness to the community. She is the autho
r of the 2005 book\, “It’s Not About the Bra: Play Hard\, Play Fair\,
and Put the Fun Back Into Competitive Sports.” \nCandace Parker \nCandac
e Parker has already solidified herself as one of the most influential ath
letes of this generation. After being selected as the No. 1 overall pick i
n the 2008 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks\, following a champion car
eer at Tennessee\, Parker went on to become the first player to earn WNBA
MVP and Rookie of the Year honors in the same season. Over the course of h
er illustrious career\, Parker won three WNBA championship titles\, and to
ok home two Olympic gold medals\, helping redefine versatility and excelle
nce in women’s basketball. \nIn 2026\, she was named a headlining induct
ee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Off the court\, fir

Since retired\, she serves as an author\, public speaker\, activist\, ent

ow Your Heart\, and Fight for Your Passion” breaks down her recipe for s

s\, Bay FC \nRyann Greenberg is vice president of guest experience and ven
ue operations at Bay FC\, responsible for delivering world-class experienc
e for players\, fans\, and partners across the club’s operations. She le
ads match day operations and guest experience for the club and as a member
of the club’s executive leadership team has helped Bay FC quickly estab
lish itself as a commercial powerhouse by leading the NWSL in merchandise
sales and finishing in the top five for average home attendance. Building
on that business momentum\, the club shattered records by drawing a sellou
t crowd of 40\,091 fans to Oracle Park in their second season\, establishi
ng the highest single-game attendance record in U.S. women’s professiona
l sports league history. \nJess Smith\, president\, Golden State Valkyries

mountain bike every Monday night July through October. The self-guided tr
ails are open exclusively to riders between 4:30pm-8:00pm. Docents mark ne
w routes throughout the season to keep things exciting. \nVISITORS MUST\n\
nRegister by 6pm Sunday to receive the pre-visit email and notifications.
Late registrants will need to show their confirmation email at checkin.\nL
iability waivers must be printed and filled out prior to arrival. Single-d
ay waivers are required at each visit\, unless you are an annual pass hold
er with a digital waiver on file.\n\nWe have put procedures and policies i
n place for the safety of the public\, volunteers\, and staff. We are only
able to offer public hikes/rides and activities if all the following prot
ocols are observed. Thank you for your cooperation. \nTHINGS TO KNOW BEFOR
E YOU REGISTER\n\nIf you plan to attend multiple outings (rides or hikes)
in the next 12 months\, consider supporting the Preserve with an Annual Pa
ss for $75. Pass holders get the added perk of digitally signing a year-lo

reek Hills is a mix of rolling savanna grasslands\, dotted with dramatic b
lue oaks and open vistas overlooking Sacramento’s largest open space pre
serve. The trails include cross country style single track\, rocky creek c
rossings\, with some technical climbing sections. Deer Creek Hills serves
as a working cattle ranch from November through May\, as a result\, the ca
ttle have proven to be superb designers for creating flowy single track. S
VC Docents will map and mark trails with cones for riders to explore. Mark
ed trails change weekly to keep rides interesting. \nThis venue is ideal f
or experienced riders with knowledge of shifting to lower gears for climbi
ng hills\, and bicycle handling for rapidly changing terrain. This is not
considered a beginner’s course. \nBEFORE YOU ATTEND\n\nReview the inform
ation on your confirmation email advising you of what to bring and how to
prepare. Check the weather forecast and plan accordingly. Wear appropriate
clothing and shoes\, and bring a cell phone\, snacks and plenty of water.
SVC Staff working the event will exchange cell numbers with you prior to
riding out.\nIf you are feeling sick or that old injury is acting up\, ple
ase stay home and postpone your visit until you’re feeling well.\nPrint
and fill out the Liability Waiver (available here on our website) and br
ing it with you.\n\nWHAT TO BRING\nRiders are responsible for bringing the
ir own bike and personal riding equipment\, including helmet\, tire repair
kits\, spare tubes\, and pumps\, and must carry a cell phone when cycling
on the property. No exceptions. Mountain bikes or CycloCross bikes with k
nobby tires are recommended. Road bikes or slick tires are not recommended
. As the season progresses through summer\, riders must bring emergency bi
ke lights in case of being caught out in the dark. \nMotorized access is r
estricted on Deer Creek Hills Preserve. In an effort to increase recreatio
nal opportunities\, especially for those with physical limitations\, low-s
peed electric bicycles defined as Class1 e-bikes\, which are operated in t
he pedal assist mode\, will be allowed on the preserve this season (per Ca
l. Veh. Code. § 312.5\; § 21200 – 21212\; § 21207.5\; § 24016). The
use of e-bikes during Mountain Bike Season must be disclosed to SVC staff
upon check-in. Electric assisted bicycles are not to exceed 15 miles per h
our while on the preserve. The use of e-bikes on the preserve is subject t
o change at any time. All cyclists must stay on the “pre-approved” tra
ils. Any visitor who fails to follow the rules will be asked to leave\, no
refunds given and not allowed to return for the duration of the season. \
nSandals and open toed shoes are not allowed. Please wear clothing appro
priate for the weather conditions and mountain biking. Bring your signed
Liability Form\, water supply and high energy snacks. Portalets are availa
ble on site and serviced every Friday\, but these are high-use areas so co
me prepared with your own hand sanitizer. There is no running water on the
property. Arrive hydrated and bring plenty of drinking water. All visitor
s must practice Leave No Trace. Pack it in\, pack it out. Smoking is prohi

l options: \n\nNorth Pond Loop — approximately 3 miles\, mostly shaded.
Can be started no later than 11:30am\nTwo Ponds Loop — 4.5 miles\, mostl
y in open skies. Can be started no later than 11:00am\nBarn Pond Loop —
6 miles\, mixture of open skies and shaded woodland. Can be started no lat

f you plan to attend multiple outings (rides or hikes) in the next 12 mont
hs\, consider supporting the Preserve with an Annual Pass for $75. Pass
holders get the added perk of digitally signing a year-long liability waiv
er. This means no printing and filling out the form for every visit! Pass
holders can also drop in without pre-registering\, and feel good knowing t
hey are supporting public programs and stewardship of Deer Creek Hills Pre
serve.\nMinors aged 15 and under must be accompanied by a legal guardian t
he entire time they’re on the property. Minors aged 16-17 may visit inde
pendently but still require a signed youth liability waiver from their gua
rdian. If you’re a youth group leader (scoutmaster\, coach\, or similar-
qualified adult chaperone) please contact our staff before registering you
r club.\nThe road to access Deer Creek Hills is not paved and requires cro
ssing Crevis Creek. 4WD and higher clearance vehicles are recommended\, es
pecially in the spring when there is water in Crevis Creek\, but are not r
equired. Visitors who do not want to drive through the creek crossing may
choose to park along the shoulder of Latrobe Road\, cross on foot\, and wa

reek Hills is a mix of rolling savanna grasslands\, dotted with dramatic b
lue oaks and open vistas overlooking Sacramento’s largest open space pre
serve. The trails include cross country style single track\, rocky creek c
rossings\, with some technical climbing sections. Deer Creek Hills serves
as a working cattle ranch from November through May\, as a result\, the ca
ttle have proven to be superb designers for creating flowy single track. S
VC Docents will map and mark trails with cones for riders to explore. Mark
ed trails change weekly to keep rides interesting. \nThis venue is ideal f
or experienced riders with knowledge of shifting to lower gears for climbi
ng hills\, and bicycle handling for rapidly changing terrain. This is not
considered a beginner’s course. \nBEFORE YOU ATTEND\n\nReview the inform
ation on your confirmation email advising you of what to bring and how to
prepare. Check the weather forecast and plan accordingly. Wear appropriate
clothing and shoes\, and bring a cell phone\, snacks and plenty of water.

nobby tires are recommended. Road bikes or slick tires are not recommended
. As the season progresses through summer\, riders must bring emergency bi
ke lights in case of being caught out in the dark. \nMotorized access is r
estricted on Deer Creek Hills Preserve. In an effort to increase recreatio
nal opportunities\, especially for those with physical limitations\, low-s
peed electric bicycles defined as Class1 e-bikes\, which are operated in t
he pedal assist mode\, will be allowed on the preserve this season (per Ca
l. Veh. Code. § 312.5\; § 21200 – 21212\; § 21207.5\; § 24016). The
use of e-bikes during Mountain Bike Season must be disclosed to SVC staff
upon check-in. Electric assisted bicycles are not to exceed 15 miles per h
our while on the preserve. The use of e-bikes on the preserve is subject t
o change at any time. All cyclists must stay on the “pre-approved” tra
ils. Any visitor who fails to follow the rules will be asked to leave\, no
refunds given and not allowed to return for the duration of the season. \
nSandals and open toed shoes are not allowed. Please wear clothing appro

ard Index (PSI) it is unsafe to ride if the AQI is at or above 138. As a r
esult\, the ride will be cancelled. \nRed Flag warnings: Red flag warning
s are monitored throughout the summer. Docents work hard every weekend to
keep trails clear of brush and dry grass in order to limit fire danger. Un
less there is an active fire burning in close proximity to the preserve\,

6 miles\, mixture of open skies and shaded woodland. Can be started no lat

ty of the public\, volunteers\, and staff. We are only able to offer publi
c hikes/rides and activities if all the following protocols are observed.

f you plan to attend multiple outings (rides or hikes) in the next 12 mont
hs\, consider supporting the Preserve with an Annual Pass for $75. Pass
holders get the added perk of digitally signing a year-long liability waiv
er. This means no printing and filling out the form for every visit! Pass
holders can also drop in without pre-registering\, and feel good knowing t
hey are supporting public programs and stewardship of Deer Creek Hills Pre
serve.\nMinors aged 15 and under must be accompanied by a legal guardian t
he entire time they’re on the property. Minors aged 16-17 may visit inde
pendently but still require a signed youth liability waiver from their gua
rdian. If you’re a youth group leader (scoutmaster\, coach\, or similar-
qualified adult chaperone) please contact our staff before registering you
r club.\nThe road to access Deer Creek Hills is not paved and requires cro
ssing Crevis Creek. 4WD and higher clearance vehicles are recommended\, es
pecially in the spring when there is water in Crevis Creek\, but are not r
equired. Visitors who do not want to drive through the creek crossing may
choose to park along the shoulder of Latrobe Road\, cross on foot\, and wa
lk the remaining mile to the trailhead at Eagle Camp Corral. All propertie

serve. The trails include cross country style single track\, rocky creek c
rossings\, with some technical climbing sections. Deer Creek Hills serves
as a working cattle ranch from November through May\, as a result\, the ca
ttle have proven to be superb designers for creating flowy single track. S
VC Docents will map and mark trails with cones for riders to explore. Mark
ed trails change weekly to keep rides interesting. \nThis venue is ideal f
or experienced riders with knowledge of shifting to lower gears for climbi
ng hills\, and bicycle handling for rapidly changing terrain. This is not
considered a beginner’s course. \nBEFORE YOU ATTEND\n\nReview the inform
ation on your confirmation email advising you of what to bring and how to
prepare. Check the weather forecast and plan accordingly. Wear appropriate
clothing and shoes\, and bring a cell phone\, snacks and plenty of water.

. As the season progresses through summer\, riders must bring emergency bi
ke lights in case of being caught out in the dark. \nMotorized access is r
estricted on Deer Creek Hills Preserve. In an effort to increase recreatio
nal opportunities\, especially for those with physical limitations\, low-s
peed electric bicycles defined as Class1 e-bikes\, which are operated in t
he pedal assist mode\, will be allowed on the preserve this season (per Ca
l. Veh. Code. § 312.5\; § 21200 – 21212\; § 21207.5\; § 24016). The
use of e-bikes during Mountain Bike Season must be disclosed to SVC staff
upon check-in. Electric assisted bicycles are not to exceed 15 miles per h
our while on the preserve. The use of e-bikes on the preserve is subject t
o change at any time. All cyclists must stay on the “pre-approved” tra
ils. Any visitor who fails to follow the rules will be asked to leave\, no
refunds given and not allowed to return for the duration of the season. \

of rolling savanna grasslands\, dotted with dramatic blue oaks and open v
istas overlooking Sacramento’s largest open space preserve. The trails i
nclude cross country style single track\, rocky creek crossings\, with som
e technical climbing sections. Deer Creek Hills serves as a working cattle
ranch from November through May\, as a result\, the cattle have proven to
be superb designers for creating flowy single track. SVC Docents will map
and mark trails with cones for riders to explore. Marked trails change we
ekly to keep rides interesting. \nThis venue is ideal for experienced ride
rs with knowledge of shifting to lower gears for climbing hills\, and bicy
cle handling for rapidly changing terrain. This is not considered a beginn
er’s course. \nBEFORE YOU ATTEND\n\nReview the information on your confi

ommended. Road bikes or slick tires are not recommended. As the season pro
gresses through summer\, riders must bring emergency bike lights in case o
f being caught out in the dark. \nMotorized access is restricted on Deer C
reek Hills Preserve. In an effort to increase recreational opportunities\,
especially for those with physical limitations\, low-speed electric bicyc
les defined as Class1 e-bikes\, which are operated in the pedal assist mod
e\, will be allowed on the preserve this season (per Cal. Veh. Code. § 31
2.5\; § 21200 – 21212\; § 21207.5\; § 24016). The use of e-bikes duri
ng Mountain Bike Season must be disclosed to SVC staff upon check-in. Elec
tric assisted bicycles are not to exceed 15 miles per hour while on the pr
eserve. The use of e-bikes on the preserve is subject to change at any tim
e. All cyclists must stay on the “pre-approved” trails. Any visitor wh
o fails to follow the rules will be asked to leave\, no refunds given and
not allowed to return for the duration of the season. \nSandals and open t
oed shoes are not allowed. Please wear clothing appropriate for the weat

costumes to burn off some energy looking for creepy crawly feathered clawe
d and slimy critters along the trails. We’ll have a scavenger hunt sheet
and some treats to add to the festivities. \nHike\, stroll\, meander or r
un. Self-guided hikes are for YOU! Explore the marked trails of Deer Creek
Hills Preserve at your own speed Saturdays February through May and Octob
er through November. \nVisitors MUST:\n\nRegister by 6pm Friday to receive
the pre-visit email and notifications. Late registrants will need to show
their confirmation email at checkin.\nLiability waivers must be printed a
nd completely filled out prior to arrival. Single-day waivers are required
at each visit\, unless you are an annual pass holder with a digital waive
r on file.\n\nDonations are vital to maintaining the Preserve and offering
public outings. Consider donating online or leaving cash or a check in t
he donation jar at the registration table. \nThere are 3 trail options: \
n\nNorth Pond Loop — approximately 3 miles\, mostly shaded. Can be start
ed no later than 11:30am\nTwo Ponds Loop — 4.5 miles\, mostly in open sk
ies. Can be started no later than 11:00am\nBarn Pond Loop — 6 miles\, mi
xture of open skies and shaded woodland. Can be started no later than 10am
.\n\nWe have put procedures and policies in place for the safety of the pu
blic\, volunteers\, and staff. We are only able to offer public hikes/ride
s and activities if all the following protocols are observed. Thank you fo
r your cooperation. \nThings to Know Before You Register:\n\nIf you plan t
o attend multiple outings (rides or hikes) in the next 12 months\, conside
r supporting the Preserve with an Annual Pass for $75. Pass holders get
the added perk of digitally signing a year-long liability waiver. This mea
ns no printing and filling out the form for every visit! Pass holders can
also drop in without pre-registering\, and feel good knowing they are supp
orting public programs and stewardship of Deer Creek Hills Preserve.\nMino
rs aged 15 and under must be accompanied by a legal guardian the entire ti
me they’re on the property. Minors aged 16-17 may visit independently bu
t still require a signed youth liability waiver from their guardian. If yo
u’re a youth group leader (scoutmaster\, coach\, or similar-qualified ad
ult chaperone) please contact our staff before registering your club.\nThe
road to access Deer Creek Hills is not paved and requires crossing Crevis
Creek. 4WD and higher clearance vehicles are recommended\, especially in
the spring when there is water in Crevis Creek\, but are not required. Vis
itors who do not want to drive through the creek crossing may choose to pa
rk along the shoulder of Latrobe Road\, cross on foot\, and walk the remai
ning mile to the trailhead at Eagle Camp Corral. All properties before the
creek crossing are private property. Please respect our neighbors. Do not
cross gates or climb fences.\nAll events are subject to weather condition
s. Projected rain\, high creek levels\, extremely muddy conditions\, exces
sive heat or unsafe air quality may cancel the outing. We will do our best
to notify registered guests the evening prior via email. Please check our
online calendar for cancellation postings before you travel to the preser
ve.\nGates open at 9am and close at 1pm.\nThere is no running water on sit
e. Arrive hydrated and bring plenty of drinking water. Porta-potties are a
vailable at the trailhead and serviced every Friday. Bring your own hand s
anitizer. Leave No Trace Ethics\; Pack It In – Pack It Out.\n\nBefore Yo
u Attend: \n\nReview the information on your confirmation email advising y
ou of what to bring and how to prepare. Check the weather forecast and pla
n accordingly. Wearing layers is recommended\, wear sturdy closed-toed sho
es\, and bring a cell phone\, snacks and plenty of water. SVC Staff workin
g the event will exchange cell numbers with you prior to hiking out.\nIf y
ou are feeling sick or that old injury is acting up\, please stay home and
postpone your visit until you’re feeling well.\nPrint and fill out the
Liability Waiver (available here on our website) and bring it with you.\n\
nWhat to Leave Home:\n\nMud and Dirt! Please clean boots\, hooves\, gear a
nd all tires before coming to the preserve. Managing invasive species cost
s us thousands each year. Clean gear helps keep the preserve open for recr
eation.\nAnimals. No dogs or pets allowed on the preserve\, except working
service dogs (please let us know when you register online and check in wi
th a staff member upon your arrival)\nDrones or other remote-controlled ga
dgets\nHunting and fishing gear\nShovels or mining gear (unless tools were
specifically requested for a volunteer project you signed up for)\nDirt b
ikes and ATVs\nCigarettes\, e-cigarettes\, lighters and matches. Smoking i
s strictly prohibited and fire is a major concern on the Preserve.\n\nWhen
You Check In:\n\nHave your completed Liability Waiver Form ready.\nUtiliz
e our Boot Brush station to help prevent the introduction of invasive spec
ies.\nTrails are marked. For your safety and to respect the Preserve\, ple
ase do not venture off the marked trails. We suggest that if visitors choo
se to take rests or picnics\, they do so just off of the trail on the most
