DESCRIPTION:Creative writing offers an opportunity for patients\, families
 \, and clinicians to share experiences through story. As the field of narr
 ative medicine has grown\, creative writing practices and communities have
  continued to develop in medical education and healthcare spaces. In this 
 talk\, we will explore craft in the context of creative writing in healthc
 are.\n\nTrisha Paul is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatr
 ics\, Divisions of Hematology and Oncology and Palliative Care\, and the D
 epartment of Health Humanities and Bioethics at the University of Rocheste
 r. She holds an MFA in creative writing from NYU and completed subspecialt
 y training at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As a researcher\, s
 he studies writing and storytelling interventions for children with cancer
 \, their families\, and their care teams. She is a Field Notes Editor for 
 Intima: A Journal of Narrative Medicine\, and her writing has appeared in 
 medical journals such as JAMA and anthologies such as Where It Hurts: Disp
 atches from the Emotional Frontlines of Medicine.

 ogram at the Rochester Institute of Technology. After putting her engineer
 ing career on hold to focus on raising her children\, she began to frequen
 t many local libraries and noticed a need\; there was a lack of consistent
  Spanish story time programs for families in the community. Inspired to he
 lp fill that gap\, she began leading Spanish story time at local libraries
  each month. Jazmín loves singing\, playing the ukulele\, and reading ent

DESCRIPTION:The 64th season of the Plutzik Reading Series welcomes Christi
 an Wessels. He will read from his recent works\, answer questions and sign
  copies of his books\, which will be available for purchase.\n\nWessels is
  a poet and critic. He is the author of Who Follow the Gleam (University o
 f Massachusetts Press)\, winner of the 2025 Juniper Prize in Poetry. His p
 oetry has appeared in The Kenyon Review\, The Yale Review\, and Conjunctio
 ns\, among other such journals\; his scholarship and criticism has appeare
 d in Literary Imagination\, Middle Eastern Literatures\, and Los Angeles R
 eview of Books. He has received fellowships from the Bread Loaf Writers’
  Conference and the Stadler Center for Poetry. He is a Visiting Assistant 
 Professor of Poetry at the University of Rochester\, from which he receive
 d his PhD in English. He splits his time between Rochester and the Black F
 orest\, Germany.\n\nThe Plutzik Reading Series is one of the most prestigi
 ous and longest running reading series in the country. Over the years\, th
 e Plutzik Series has featured a vast array of poets and fiction writers\, 
 the famous and not-yet famous. In keeping with Hyam Plutzik's generosity o
 f spirit and commitment to bringing poetry to the community\, the Plutzik 
 Series readings have always been open to the public and offered free of ch
 arge.
