DESCRIPTION:Fold\, Spindle\, Mutilate is a free-to-all arts festival that 
 explores the idea of default settings: buttons\, conventions\, and directi
 ves whose artistic applications exceed their intended purpose. We take ins
 piration from the instructions that accompanied early computer punch cards
 \; the injunction "Do Not Fold\, Spindle\, or Mutilate" was originally cre
 ated to ensure the machine readability of paper media but was later approp
 riated as a protest slogan resisting forms of technological standardizatio
 n\, computerization\, and datafication. Through a series of workshops\, in
 stallations\, and performances this festival's participants likewise fold\
 , spindle\, and mutilate a range of default settings to explore the artist
 ic and political possibilities of obfuscation\, juxtaposition\, and fabula

  Media & Cultural Studies at UC Riverside.\n\n \n\nNoah Amir Arjomand is a
 n Emmy-winning filmmaker and media scholar working across documentary\, na
 rrative\, animated\, and experimental forms. He is a Chancellor's Postdoct
 oral Fellow in Media & Cultural Studies at UCR\, where he earned an MFA in
  Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts. Noah is currently i
 n post-production on a short fictional film about an analog photographer
 ’s travails in the age of AI and producing a documentary about the local
  “fixers” who assist foreign journalists in Mexico\, building upon his

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Asian cultures under a full moon! Moon festivals are
  celebrated throughout Asia with moon cakes\, lanterns\, and gratitude for
  friends and family. These celebrations originated with the ancient tradit
 ion of honoring the moon in autumn for the harvest. The Moon Festival at H
 eritage House marks the importance of Chinese Americans in building Rivers
 ide’s citrus industry. \nJoin us for an evening of storytelling by Barba
 ra Wong\, performances by Gió Nam Múa Lân (Southern Wind Lion Dance\, 
 南風醒獅團)\, and Chinese calligraphy demonstrations by Riverside’s
  Hua Xia Chinese School. The festival will also feature moon viewing with 
 the UC Riverside astronomy department and Astronomy Club outreach members\
 , demonstrations\, and a fun craft for all ages. Moon cakes will be availa

  bus to Downtown Riverside for the Riverside Arts & Music Festival at Whit
 e Park. Everyone UCR associated can use their free U-Pass to ride any RTA

 n\n \n\nThe 2026 Riverside Art & Music Festival\, a free\, family-friendly
  celebration of arts\, culture\, and community. This annual event features
  live music\, art installations\, workshops\, local artist vendors\, and p
 erformances that showcase the creativity and talent of Riverside.\n\n \n\n
 If you are new to the Riverside area or live on campus\, these travel trai
 nings are a great opportunity to navigate public transit\, explore nearby
