The truncated form resonates with majes ty while also serving as a mournful reminder of humankind’s impact upon the natural world. It has been displayed only once before\, in 2019 in Gra ce Cathedral in San Francisco\, where it was accompanied by rites of faith \, musical performances\, and readings\, as well as by a community’s pre sence\, participation\, and social interaction. Drop in anytime between 12:00-1:00pm for this musical conversation bet ween Ruth Boden and Unearthed. \nFree and open to the public. \nAbout the Performer | Ruth Boden is an Associate Professor in the School of Music at Washington State University where she teaches cello\, bass\, music theory and coordinates the chamber music program. Ruth is an active performer an d has appeared as a guest artist with the Mid-Columbia Symphony\, Washingt on Idaho Symphony\, Coeur d’Alene Symphony\, and gave the premier perfor mance of Philip Wharton’s Concerto for Violin and Cello with the Rendezv ous Orchestra in Moscow\, Idaho. She has also been a member of numerous or chestras throughout the Southeast and Northwest and has worked with severa l notable chamber artists including the Vermeer\, Juilliard\, Miami\, and Cavani String Quartets and the Diaz Trio. Ruth is a staunch supporter of n ew and contemporary music. She released her first solo CD Off the Cuff in July of 2014 which features eclectic contemporary music for solo cello. An avid hiker and lover of the outdoors\, Ruth spends parts of her summers b ackpacking with her cello and performing new works commissioned for her pr oject Music Outside Four Walls. PCS’s Chamber Choir is an intimate group of sele ct singers focused on complex\, small-group choral artistry. \nDr. Matthew Myers works as assistant professor of choral music education at Washingto n State University\, where he conducts the University Singers and Treble C hoir and teaches courses in music education\, conducting\, and voice pedag ogy. He earned his DMA in choral conducting from Louisiana State Universit y\, his master’s degree in choral conducting from Northern Arizona Unive rsity\, and his bachelor’s degree in vocal performance and music educati on from Luther College. After completing his degree at Luther\, he taught grades 6-12 choir at The American International School of Muscat in Oman. He has served as conductor of the NAU Men’s Chorale and Chamber Singers\ , the LSU Chamber Singers\, the Master Chorale of Flagstaff\, and the Flag staff Youth Chorale and has held church music positions in Iowa\, Illinois \, Louisiana\, and Alabama.
