performance with Cellist Ruth Boden\nUNEARTHED PERFORMANCE with Cellist Ru
th Boden: “Conversations with Our Roots”\n12:00 pm to 1:00 pm\nJordan
Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU \nJim Hodges’ Unearthed is a monumental bron
ze cast of an uprooted tree stump. The truncated form resonates with majes
ty while also serving as a mournful reminder of humankind’s impact upon
the natural world. It has been displayed only once before\, in 2019 in Gra
ce Cathedral in San Francisco\, where it was accompanied by rites of faith
 \, musical performances\, and readings\, as well as by a community’s pre
sence\, participation\, and social interaction. Unearthed has its second r
esidency at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Washington State Univers
ity\, providing the academic and regional community an occasion to approac
h the work through intentional participation. \nJoin us for a special perf
ormance series with Unearthed this fall 2026\, including music\, readings\
, and dance. On Wednesday\, September 23 School of Music faculty member Ru
th Boden responds to Unearthed through cello instrumentation and spoken wo
rd. Drop in anytime between 12:00-1:00pm for this musical conversation bet
ween Ruth Boden and Unearthed. \nFree and open to the public. \nAbout the
Performer | Ruth Boden is an Associate Professor in the School of Music at
Washington State University where she teaches cello\, bass\, music theory
and coordinates the chamber music program. Ruth is an active performer an
d has appeared as a guest artist with the Mid-Columbia Symphony\, Washingt

ew and contemporary music. She released her first solo CD Off the Cuff in

DESCRIPTION:Theme: The Future is Now: How the emerging issues of the rece
nt past have come to define our water-scarce present. \nWhen: Thursday\,
 October 8\, 2026 \nTime: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (program)\; 5:00 – 6:30 PM
(networking reception) \nWhere: Mountaineers Seattle Program Center\, 7
700 Sand Point Way NE\, Seattle\, WA \nDescription: A quarter of the way
through the twenty-first century\, we find ourselves in a changed landscap
e of water resource management in Washington. Widespread difficulty obtain
ing new water supplies to support population growth inhibits sustainable a
nd affordable development. New competing demands for water to support clea
n energy development\, data centers\, and other emergent technologies are
stressing existing water supplies and suppliers even further. Meanwhile\,
four consecutive years of snowpack drought have fundamentally revised our
expectations of future water supply availability. And the increasing occur
rence and severity of acute weather events (such as heat domes and atmosph
eric rivers) have unbalanced the historical hydrograph away from periods o
f peak demand. \nThe 2026 AWRA-WA State Conference will bring together wat
 er professionals\, policymakers\, engineers\, scientists\, lawyers\, stude
nts\, and regulators to explore the challenges and opportunities ahead thr
ough thought-provoking sessions and candid discussions. \nWhy Attend?
 \n\nHear from leading experts and decision-makers shaping Washington’s w
ater future.\nEngage in open conversations to learn from past efforts and
shape smarter strategies moving forward.\nGain actionable insights and str
ategies for navigating uncertainty and change.\nExpand your network with w
ater resource professionals from across the state.\nYour registration incl
udes a 2027 AWRA-WA membership and directly supports chapter events\, stud
 ent fellowship program\, and this conference.\n\nNew ideas\, new voices\,
and diverse expertise are essential right now. Whether you’re just enter
ing the industry or bringing years of expertise\, be part of the conversat
ions shaping the future of water management in Washington State. \nRegistr
 ation\, speakers\, and session details are coming soon. \nDownload a PDF o
