DESCRIPTION:This class is designed to demystify the editing process with a
 pplicable tools for editing at each stage of your draft. From fiction to c
 reative nonfiction\, this workshop offers in-depth looks at different edit
 orial tools to use to help you refine your story and your language. In thi
 s four-week workshop\, we’ll review practical\, applicable revision tool
 s for each stage of the revision process. Then\, we’ll practice some of 
 those editing tools on your work in class. Homework includes expanded edit
 ing exercises\, which we’ll discuss the following week. \nPlease bring:\
 n● A notebook and at least 3 different colored writing utensils\n● For
  day 1: a printed first page of something you’re working on\nEach writer
  will be sent home with an editing checklist and editing goals for the com
 ing weeks.\nAccess Program\nWe want our writing classes and seminars to be
  accessible to everyone\, regardless of income and background. We understa
 nd that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our A

DESCRIPTION:This craft-focused workshop is built around personalized feedb
 ack on work in progress. Each session\, the group reads and discusses four
  writers’ submissions\, and for every piece\, the instructor prepares an
  individual craft lesson—the one element she believes will most help tha
 t piece take its next step forward. \nThis is workshopping in the traditio
 nal model\, with three things added. Every writer receives detailed\, line
 -level editing and concrete revision strategies. Feedback leads with stren
 gths\, naming what each piece is already doing well before offering where 
 the greatest opportunity lies\, because writers revise most effectively fr
 om their best work\, and often don’t yet see what that is. Feedback is f
 ramed as craft questions—what is this scene asking for\, where does the 
 work want to build—so that writers leave with direction they can act on.
  \nWeekly Structure\nEach class session will include:\n• Four custom cra
 ft lessons drawn from the pieces under discussion\, applicable to all\n•
  Collaborative workshopping of four participants’ submissions\n• Scene
 -writing practice and supportive read-alouds of new work\n• Q&A on craft
  and technique \nWhat Writers Will Gain\n• Personalized\, craft-based fe
 edback on their work in progress across the full term\n• Custom craft le
 ssons matched to each writer’s specific needs\n• Detailed\, line-level
