DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Virtual Lunch & Learn presented by Matthew Schmi
dt as he shares practical strategies for preparing your business for finan
cing and making the most of SBA lending programs. This session will cover
what lenders look for when evaluating loan applications\, as well as how S
BA revolving lines of credit can help businesses manage cash flow\, suppor
t operations\, and position themselves for growth.\n\nSBA "Are You Lender
Ready?"\n\nThe SBA’s "Are You Lender Ready?" presentations are designed
to help entrepreneurs think like a bank and successfully navigate the comm
ercial loan process. These sessions unpack critical underwriting criteria
—such as credit scores\, cash flow\, and financial statements—while te
aching owners how to build a compelling loan package. By learning how to p
resent a solid business pitch and connecting directly with local lenders\,
participants gain the practical tools needed to transition from seeking c
apital to securing it.\n\nUnlocking Capital: Maximizing the Power of SBA R
evolving Lines\n\n"Unlocking Capital" focuses on utilizing flexible\, shor
t-term financing—like CAP Lines and the Working Capital Pilot Program—
to optimize day-to-day business operations. Unlike standard term loans\, t
hese revolving lines allow owners to draw funds as needed to manage uneven
cash flow\, cover seasonal inventory\, or fund payroll. By leveraging acc
ounts receivable or purchase orders\, businesses can secure higher advance
rates and lower interest costs\, providing the sustained liquidity requir
ed to scale and fulfill larger contracts.\n\nTags: lunchandlearn\, biotech

DESCRIPTION:Cloud Native PDX July: An API for Linux and Learning OTTL\n\nT
his July is all about infrastructure: Your systems infrastructure and your
  monitoring infrastructure.\n\nDate: Thursday\, July 16\, 2026\n\nTime: 6:
 00 PM – 8:00 PM\n\nLocation: ProFocus Technology\, 10200 SW Eastridge St
#100\, Portland\, OR 97225\n\nRecording: Talks are typically recorded (op
t-in by speakers)\n\nA big thank you to New Relic for sponsoring food & be
verage\, and to ProFocus\, our venue host.\n\nFirst Presentation: An API f
or Linux (Speaker: Justin Garrison\, Sidero Labs)\n\nWe treat infrastructu
re and application as code thanks to cloud providers and Kubernetes\, but
we're still SSHing to Linux machines and running shell scripts. What if Li
nux had an API? How would it change how we manage servers? What would it d
o\, and how would we secure it? Talos Linux has been building an API for L
inux to create a new way to manage your operating system. Let's see why an
API is better than SSH and what parts don't\n\nSecond Presentation: Devs\
, Transform (Your Data) and Roll Out!: Learning and Leveraging OTTL (Speak
er: Reese Lee\, New Relic)\n\nThe OpenTelemetry Collector is OTel's power
tool for ingesting and processing your app and infrastructure data\, but t
here's even more you can do with your data before it reaches your backend!
Learn how to start leveraging OTTL\, or OpenTelemetry Transformation Lang
uage\, to manage your data volume and quality. We'll explore the syntax ba
sics and its underlying architecture within the Collector\, where its stre
ngth really comes into play\, when to use it (or not!)\, and more.\n\nTags

DESCRIPTION:Event Agenda:\nThere will be a main talk between 30 minutes to
1 hour followed by optional lighting talks.\n\nScalable processing with R
ay: unstructured data\, multimodal data\, and integration with your custom
code by Adam Breindel\n\nIn this talk\, we'll look at building applicatio
ns and data pipelines that operate on unstructured or multimodal data usin
g the open-source Ray framework. Ray provides abstractions for running dis
tributed\, scalable\, stateful code as well as higher-level constructs for
orchestrating data pipelines where you can supply your own business logic
.\n\nSome logic might involve using or training AI models -- but this talk
is not focused on (or written by) AI. We'll look at general issues that a
rise when scaling interesting logic and talk a bit about the algorithms th
at the Ray Core and Ray Data schedulers employ to address common challenge
s.\n\nLast\, since I've met so many awesome folks in the local Python comm
unities who are looking for jobs\, we'll also talk a bit about the tech st
acks and other dynamics driving employment and the role of Portland's econ
omy in the evolving landscape.\n\nLightning Talks:\nLightning talks are ta
lks up to 5 minutes in length on any topic that might interest other Pytho
n people. See PyCon’s Lightning Talks description for more details.\n\nT

DESCRIPTION:RSVP for the very first meetup of AI for Nonprofits - Portland
.\n\nNinety minutes\, and the shape every month after will be the same:\n\
n• Short talks (5 minutes): someone shows one thing that actually worked
  - a prompt that improved a real donor letter\, a privacy rule a real boar
d adopted. Real work\, shown working. No slides required.\n\n• One deepe
r conversation: this month - what we're actually using AI for and where we
've drawn the line. Small groups\, honest notes.\n\n• Field Notes follow
up: within two days\, everyone gets the write-up from the meetup. Prompts
  discussed\, ideas shared\, and more. Lessons travel\; names don't.\n\nBri
ng one thing you've learned\, or one thing you're trying to understand.\n\
nYou do not need to be an AI person.\n\nFree\, no vendor pitches\, no tech
nical background needed.\nWe wrap at 12:30 - conversations that want to ke
ep going can move out to Pioneer Courthouse Square.\n\nQuestions\, or some
thing you'd like presented for you (anonymously is fine): weston@tomorrowl

DESCRIPTION:Code & Coffee is an inclusive\, informal co-working session: d
rink your beverage of choice\, bring your laptop\, and hang out with your
peers! Have engaging conversations\, or focus on work or projects. This is
a great opportunity to learn from others\, share your knowledge\, and pos
sibly collaborate on side projects\, online courses\, or even your day-to-
day work.\n\n---- Schedule ----\n\nYou're welcome to drop in anytime durin
g the event. We understand that everyone may have external commitments and
challenges - join us when you can!\n\nWe have informal unscheduled introd
uctions - practice your personal elevator pitch\, or take things slower to
build your confidence.\n\n---- Venue ----\n\nFly Chai allow us to informa
lly and freely use their space. If within your budget\, we'd appreciate yo
ur help to sustain our use of the venue\, by purchasing something tasty\,
whether Chai or otherwise.\n\nFind us at tables with a Code&Coffee sign -
or a clump of laptop-users!\n\nWifi and power outlets are available.\nOur
meeting area should be accessible - please let us know if not.\n\n---- Wha
t to expect ----\n\nSmaller events than you may be used to\, with a mixed
crowd week-to-week. We expect this is likely due to us meeting weekly\, at
a less central location.\n\nThese may result in what you're looking for:\
 n A smaller\, less intimidating\, lower pressure\, cozy atmosphere.\n
   A mix of regular and new faces.\n A simpler schedule - every week\, s
ame time\, same place - that you can drop into when you like.\n Being c
loser to you than other events.\n\nWhether those are generally or partly t
o your liking\, we hope you'll consider dropping by sometime!\n\n---- Gett
ing to the venue ----\n\nLook for the venue on the meetup Google map\, or
alternatives like OpenStreetMap.\n\n-- Driving --\n\nThere are limited par
king spaces on a lot outside the venue (4+1 accessible)\, with more in the
  surrounding area.\n\n-- Transit options --\n\nBeaverton Central (Red/Blue
  MAX)\, then walk~ 8 minutes\n\nBeaverton Transit Center (Red/Blue MAX\, b
