DESCRIPTION:The Portland Art Museum\, in partnership with Portland Public
Schools and the Office of Arts & Culture\, is celebrating Arts in Educatio
n Week\, recognized nationally\, September 13–19. Please join us on Tues
day\, September 15 at 1 p.m. in the Silver Family Youth and Community Gall

.  \n\n\n\nThe gallery hosts the extraordinary work of student artists in
the HeART of Portland Visual Art Exhibition. This exhibition features ove
r 100 works that highlight the diversity of arts offerings across Portland
Public Schools. As part of the proclamation reading\, elementary students
will share their artwork. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nAdmission is f
ree. Registration requested. \n\n\n\nArts in Education Week\, September 13
–19\, is a national celebration that lifts up the enduring power of an a
rts education. Arts education allows students to develop artistic discipli
nes\, learn about and understand multiple perspectives\, build connections
with others\, and find their voice in the world. Engagement in the arts f
osters durable skills such as creativity\, problem solving\, collaboration
\, communication\, resiliency\, and critical thinking. These durable skill
s will be used by students throughout their lives.   \n\n\n\nThe arts ar
e not extra\; they are an essential part of a well-rounded education. Port
land guarantees all 28\,000 public elementary students access to an arts e
ducation through the Arts Access Fund\, powered by the Arts Education Tax.
The Arts Access Fund also provides grants for arts organizations that pro
vide arts experiences for K-12 students and people in underserved communit
ies. Last year\, local arts organizations recorded a combined 143\,525 art
s experiences for K-12 students in Portland.    \n\n\n\nWe are proud to
celebrate a 100+ year partnership with Portland Public Schools\, and each
year the Portland Art Museum serves 30\,000 students through school tours
and community access programs. Children 17 and under are always free.

DESCRIPTION:Star 80 (1983) Directed by Bob Fosse. 1hr 43min. Rated R. \n\n
\n\nStar 80 is presented by Director Fits as part of a series on Fashion a
nd Film. A disturbing\, beautiful\, and haunting film about the rise-and-f
all of Dorthy Stratten.  \n\n\n\n“Four stars! An important movie. Devas
 tating\, violent\, hopeless\, and important\, because it holds a mirror up
to a part of the world we live in\, and helps us see it more clearly.”
 – Roger Ebert \n\n\n\nDirector Fits is a media platform focusing on the
everyday sartorial decisions of filmmakers. We believe that directors are
an often overlooked group of impeccably well-dressed artists making bold c
hoices when it comes to clothing. We focus on their personal style\, the p
ractical garments they wear while they work\, their buttoned-up red carpet
looks\, and so much more. We dive deep into the thought process of a dire
ctor’s view on clothing and how it affects them as well as their films.
\n\n\n\nWe do not generally provide advisories about subject matter or pot
entially triggering content in films\, and films exhibited don’t necessa
rily reflect the views of PAM CUT or the Portland Art Museum. In addition
to the synopses\, trailers\, and other links on our website\, further info
