 ns his dad taught him to decipher the legacy of an aging man who was a chi
 ld survivor of the WWII incarceration of Japanese Americans\, a successful
  photographer who gave it up to tell his own story\, an activist at the da
 wn of a social movement—and a father whose struggles have won his son fr
 eedoms that eluded Japanese Americans of his generation. As Parkinson’s 
 Disease clouds his memory\, Tad sets out to retrieve his story—and in th
 e process discovers his own. The two have made films together\, with Rober
 t always by Tad’s side. THIRD ACT is the last. \n\n\n\nAfter the film\,

 n\n\nTADASHI NAKAMURA (DIRECTOR/PRODUCER) Tadashi Nakamura is an Emmy-awar
 d winning filmmaker and the Director of the Watase Media Arts Center\, a p
 roduction company of the Japanese American National Museum. Tadashi was na
 med CNN’s “Young People Who Rock” for being the youngest filmmaker a
 t the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. In 2025 he returned to Sundance to prem
 iere his latest film THIRD ACT (2025) about his pioneering filmmaker fathe
 r\, Robert A. Nakamura. With over 20 years of filmmaking experience\, his

 s (Nisei) incarcerated at the Minidoka Relocation Center in Southeast Idah
 o\, faced a paradox: fight for a country that had stripped them of their c
 ivil liberties\, taken away their freedom and placed them and their famili
 es behind barbed wire\, not because they were the enemy but because they l
 ooked like the enemy\; or\, resist the draft because they and their famili
 es had been unconstitutionally and unfairly incarcerated.  \n\n\n\nThe Ni
 sei Paradox\, a multi-media stage reading created\, produced and performed
  by a group of judges and attorneys\, tells the story of 42 young Japanese
  Americans who chose to resist the draft and fight injustice through civil
  disobedience. These young men chose a different type of courage than the 
 many Nisei incarcerees who went to war—they chose to resist\, to oppose 
 unfair treatment\, to stand up to a stacked legal system\, only to lose th
 eir freedom for a period longer than the 2-year conscription period\, long
 er than the incarceration camps were open\, and longer than the war itself
 .
