CATEGORIES:music
DESCRIPTION:Let the record show that here in 2026\, Dogstar is clearly All
  In Now. \nAfter a long 20 years of silence as a band\, this California-ba
sed power trio – guitarist and lead singer Bret Domrose\, drummer Robert
Mailhouse\, and bassist Keanu Reeves – surprised many and perhaps even
themselves when they returned in fine form in 2023 with a new album that f
ound the three joyfully making music again and doing it all Somewhere Betw
een the Power Lines and Palm Trees. Only two years later – after extensi
ve touring in America and around the world playing everywhere from sweaty
rock clubs to giant outdoor festivals – Dogstar is returning with strong
new songs that leave no doubt that this little band that could is back fo
r good with a powerful sound that is bigger and better than ever before.
“It felt like our last album was our ticket into a party\,” says Bret
Domrose. “And now we’ve shown up to the party – the three of us.”
\nDogstar is a group of three friends who have slowly yet surely become a
band of brothers – a group with multiple talents committed to picking up
the pace and locking into life as a working and increasingly beloved rock
band who are excited to get back on the road this summer. “We couldn’
t fucking wait\,” Keanu Reeves says about Dogstar’s collective desire
to get right back to the studio after the biggest and best tour of their l
ives. “Personally\, I loved it all.  For me\, the attitude was like\,
‘Let’s work hard and let’s GO.’ And we really enjoy the variety of
songs here – although one way or another\, they all do kind of rock.”
\nAs Robert Mailhouse sees it\, All In Now is the most vivid reflection o
f the passion and chemistry that has been driving Dogstar’s heartfelt ro
ck & roll dreams from the start. “The whole album may not hit quite as h
ard as the title track\, but somehow it really sets up the energy at the h
eart of this album and the fun that we’ve always had playing together.
” Indeed\, All In Now reflects Dogstar hitting festival stages and exper
iencing the energy that can happen between a band and a big live audience.
“We absorbed that last time out on tour\,” says Domrose. “We came o
ff those huge stages playing before big bands for up to like 50\,000 peopl
e and said\, ‘This is where we are now.’ Not consciously\, but all of
that soaked in.” \nMailhouse remembers\, “Just seeing the smiles on pe
ople’s faces and feeling their joy on a musical level. Playing some outd
oor festivals\, and when it starts to rain\, seeing nobody leaving.” \n
“Those festivals in Europe really made a big\, positive impact on us\,
” adds Reeves. \n“We loved playing to people in the afternoon who didn
’t necessarily come to see Dogstar\, but connected with what we were doi
ng. And that connected with us.” Bret continued\, “You never know if p
eople are going to show up\, are they going to stay\, are they going to li
sten? It meant a lot that people not only stayed but got into songs that t
hey mostly had never heard before.” \nAll In Now is an album that loudly
and clearly reflects Dogstar’s collective musical passions and growing
strengths as a road-tested band. “In your beauty there is a danger\,”
Domrose sings in the first line of All In Now‘s intense opening track\,
“Math\,” and this snaky\, darkly sexy track sets the impressive and sl
ightly mysterious tone for a decidedly cohesive album that seems both lyri
cally and musically full of both beauty and danger. \nThroughout the album
\, the rhythm section of Mailhouse and Reeves sounds more locked in than e
ver before\, while Domrose’s vocals and guitar work fly to increasingly
impressive new heights here. Overall\, All In Now finds Dogstar confidentl
y rocking harder than ever before on tracks like the title track and “Jo
y\,” and even when tone changes on gems like the wonderfully anthemic
“Shallow Easy” and the gorgeously melodic closing song\, “Wing\,”
this remains the altogether bracing sound of a rock band firing on all cyl
inders and all ready now to get back on the road and play. And somehow in
“All In Now” – the propulsive title track and the compelling first s
ingle from the new album – Dogstar has created its own theme song about
the state of their musical union here in 2026 a band that “has gone from
  lost to found.”

DESCRIPTION:Gretta Seabird will be performing at Sixth+ Main on Downtown
’s transit mall! \nGretta Seabird began with a simple songwriting challe
nge. Every two weeks\, Jeremiah Brunnhoelzl would email guitar tracks from
his flat in Brooklyn\, NY to Lee McDonnell in Portland\, OR\, who would t
hen give herself a mere day to pen down lyrics and melody. As the songs fo
rmed at a rapid\, yet natural pace\, the pair began to believe in the poet
ry they were creating\, in the little moments caught in time. Thus\, Grett
a Seabird was formed\, and with it the debut EP “Cycling.”

DESCRIPTION:It’d be no small understatement to call this year an artisti
c renaissance for Orville Peck\, the trailblazing country performer who ha
s spent the last 11 months soaring to new creative heights. After 2024’s
beloved collaboration album\, Stampede-which featured such icons as Willi
 e Nelson\, Kylie Minogue\, Elton John\, and more-the masked singer took on
an entirely new challenge: Broadway. In his mesmerizing\, layered debut a
s the Emcee in Cabaret\, Peck won legions of new fans and critical acclaim
in kind during his 128-show run in the celebrated production. \nUprooting
his life from California to New York City for nearly half a year\, the Po
ny and Bronco singer-songwriter found newfound musical\, lyrical inspirati
on wherever he turned. “I was trying to challenge myself with being more
vulnerable with songwriting\, and I think that experience felt so insanel
y vulnerable for me\,” he says of the doors Cabaret unlocked. “Obvious
ly I was performing without my mask\, which was so new for me\, but the na
ture of the material being so heavy-with me going in really wanting to do
a good job-pushed me to even more new levels of vulnerability.” \nSomeho
w\, between rehearsals\, performances\, and martial arts training for a st
arring role in a late summer movie shoot (Street Fighter\, due out in 2026
)\, he kept finding his mind returning to music. So he did what he always
does: he started writing\, and linked with Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Ja
cob Portrait (Alex G\, Porches\, Lil Yachty\, and more) to start crafting
the songs that would eventually make up Appaloosa. The seven-song EP reuni
tes Peck with longtime collaborator Noah Cyrus on “Atchafalaya\;” pays
tribute to his Cabaret stint with a cover of the Sally Bowles’ number
“Maybe This Time\;’ and plumbs new emotional ground with “Oh My Days
”-which the artist calls his “first-ever love song\, considering that
I always write about heartbreak\, not love.” \n“I always tend to sing
and write about what’s going on in my life\, and that felt like a natura
l\, big part of my life that’s evolved since Bronco-which was very much
about coming out of a relationship\,” Peck says. “This is the first ba
tch of songs that are about the start of this new relationship\, and the f
ears and doubts and insecurities that come with new feelings for someone\,
especially after coming out of such a tumultuous time in the Bronco world
. These songs are about a time when I felt very nervous about being heartb
roken again\, and what it meant to fall in love again for the first time i
n a long time.” \nPeck recorded Appaloosa in Brooklyn during rare free w
indows in his calendar. Its title\, he says\, felt like slipping on a glov
 e. “An appaloosa is a famously spotted horse\, and in some ways\, to me
 that represents a singularity-a uniqueness\,” he says. “In my mind\, I
picture a bunch of different horses all standing around\, all different b
reeds\, but you would notice the appaloosa standing out because their coat
is so distinct and so unique. These last few years\, since Bronco\, a big
part of my own path has been really embracing who I am\, realizing that m
y confidence was always really greatly affected by being insecure about my
uniqueness instead of embracing it.” \n“I think in some ways\, at the
moment\, I feel kind of like an appaloosa\,” he adds. “I’ve finally
accepted I just am and will probably always be or feel different\, I thin
 k. But instead of that feeling alienating like it used to for most of my l
ife\, now it makes me feel excited and happy and lucky to feel different.
I’m in my appaloosa era right now.” \nThat freedom-creatively\, person
ally\, professionally-unlocked a desire in Peck as he embarked upon the Ap
paloosa process. “This year\, I got to do so many things that were lifel
ong dreams\, so much so that I’m actually now adamantly happy that I don
’t fit into those rooms and boxes\,” he says. “I made a conscious de
cision on this album to return to as pure of a place as I could. When I ma
de Pony\, I didn’t have an audience\; no one knew who I was\, no one car
ed\, and I didn’t have anybody to answer to. There were no expectations
on me whatsoever\, and when there’s no ears or eyes on you\, you can rea
lly make art for yourself.” \nAppaloosa is\, in every sense\, a project
based on “what I wanted to hear\,” Orville says. “It was entirely ab
out what I wanted it to sound like without caring about how it would be re
ceived or understood.” In that sense\, he was able to return to his root
s “in terms of production and songwriting and sound\,” he says. “I w
as going back to references that I really liked when I was a teenager-ther
e’s all these shoegaze-y\, alternative moments on the album. It allowed
me to pivot to where I came from\, having learned a lot of new things alon
g the way.” \nFree of expectations\, what Peck created is one of his mos
t exhilarating and alive bodies of work yet. Throughout Appaloosa’s seve
n songs\, fans will hear Orville at his most unburdened\, creating for the
sake of artistic expression. Tone-setter “Dreaded Sundown” opens the
project “cinematically\, laying out this new flavor and telling this sto
ry about being okay being alone with yourself\, especially after a period
of pain and betrayal.” \n“Drift Away” follows\, inspired by Orville
’s childhood love of alt-rock acts like the Pixies\, the Breeders\, and
the Smashing Pumpkins. “I wanted it to be an ode to being an outsider in
a small town\, me and all my fellow freaky friends living in a sleepy tow
n\, looking for ways to get up to fun.” Noah Cyrus joins him on “Atcha
falaya\,” a track that chronicles his journey from California to New Yor
k for Cabaret\, putting his personal life and the things he loved on hold
to “do the other things you love”-all wrapped in lyrics trailing the r
oute from Louisiana’s Atchafalaya Basin up to the Big Apple. \nUpon arri
val in New York\, there’s a heartbreaking cover of what he calls “lyri
cally a country song in a lot of ways”: “Maybe This Time\,” a salute
to his debut on the Great White Way. “In the show when Eva Noblezada wo
uld sing this one\, I would be busy doing a really crazy quick change\,”
he says. “But I would be adamantly trying to go faster and faster each
time so I could run to the side stage and watch her finish. It covers so m
any nuances of what the human experience.” \n“Oh My Days”-his “fir
st love song\, I think!”-tells the story of finding his partner and thos
e feelings that come with the first love after the worst love. “My body
was walking towards him\, and my heart and my soul were running in the oth
er direction because I was so traumatized\,” he says. “‘Oh My Days
’ is about talking yourself out of something that you know is making you
  happy because you’re frightened-and overcoming those fears\, too.” \n
“Oh My Days\,” Peck says\, has been burning a hole in his back pocket
for four years\, waiting for the right project to find its home. But “My
Side of the Mountain” came from more raw experiences\, chronicling a br
eak with his partner during which both needed “to take some time to work
on ourselves\,” he remembers. At the time\, both lived literally one ca
nyon apart in Los Angeles. “I would lay awake at night knowing that he w
as literally 10 minutes away from me over the other side of the mountain\,
” he says. “So this song is an ode to what I was going through at that
time-that I could probably shout loud enough and he could hear me\, and t
he idea of letting someone go\, even if it’s just temporarily\, to focus
on yourself.” \nAppaloosa closes with “It’s the End of the World\,
” a song Orville started writing the same day as the 2024 election. “T
he most important thing I think that we can do sometimes is to try and car
ve out happiness where and how we can find it\, especially in times when i
t is just so easy to get disheartened about what’s going on in the world
\,” he says. “This was my way of grabbing the person next to me and ju
st saying\, ‘You know? Eff it\, let’s Thelma and Louise it and just tr
y and find some happiness in all of this despair.'” \n“I’d call this
one a positively nihilistic anthem about the world burning\,” he adds w
ith a chuckle. \nPromising a much shorter wait between projects\, Orville
says he’s already begun thinking about and writing his next musical chap
ter. “Even in some of the absolute most hopeless\, hard\, dark times of
my life\, art and specifically music has been what has saved my life over
and over again\,” he says. And I don’t even mean just making it. I mea
n getting to enjoy it. So my hope is that even though we are in what feels
like such bleak times that people will still continue to make art that fe
els like it is important or matters or helps people.” \n\nSpotify:\nhttp
