500.00 for AIDS Walk Northwest to support their goal of $300\,000.  \nReg
ister for the walk or donate today at: https://www.aidswalknorthwest.org/t
eam/rose-haven. \nThis event is hosted by the Cascade AIDS Project\, the l
argest community based provider of HIV services and education in Oregon an
d Southwest Washington. For 41 years now\, the AIDS Walk has served as a s
pace to strengthen community and support a collective commitment to health
\, equity\, and compassion. \nThe walk acts as a way to not only remember
those lost to AIDS\, but also as a means of raising funds to support criti
cal services and uplift those living with HIV through a united celebration
of joy and strength.  \nTo honor the humanity of all individuals\, we mu
st stand up for our community members who have fought societal stigma and
unjust access to medical treatment. In doing so we ought to honor the lega
cy of HIV activism that continues on to this day. \nBy supporting our team
in the AIDS Walk\, you’re helping raise awareness and stand in solidari
ty with those affected by HIV/AIDS\, while strengthening a community where
everyone has access to dignity\, care\, and hope. Every donation makes a
meaningful difference. Thank you for walking alongside us and recognizing
that we all have a role in responding to HIV.

host a gathering for women\, marking the close of the Hidden Happiness To
ur’s Portland visit\, led by Ani Choyang\, Venerable Yönten\, and Maitr
ipa College leadership. The intention is simple: to fill the space with w
omen’s practice and to connect with one another with care and attention.
Through sitting practice\, guided reflection\, and shared conversation\,
the afternoon will turn toward the distinct qualities women have long carr
ied within the tradition\, a fierceness capable of meeting anger\, fear\,
and mortality without flinching\, alongside a steady\, strong attention th
at holds space for others to do the same. Consider it a first gathering\,
seeds rather than harvest\; what grows from it will depend on who comes an
d what each person brings. In person in Portland only. Enquire for detail
 s at education@maitripa.org.\n\nAbout Ani Choyang\nAni Choyang was born i
n Tibet and escaped to India at age 18. She became a nun in 2003 under the
guidance of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. She received the Rapjampa
 Degree (similar to a Master’s degree) in 2022 after completing a 17-year
course of Buddhist studies. She is in the third  year of Geshema program
(Similar to a PhD). \n\nShe is a Tenzin Gyatso Science Scholar and was on
e of the first Tibetan nuns to attend a two-year science training program
at Emory University as part of the Emory Tibet Science Initiative. \nAni
Choyang also participated in a science research internship at Northwester
n University in 2022\, where she received in-depth training in the theory
and methods of neuroscience. \nCurrently\, Ani Choyang serves as Library
and Learning Canter Project Coordinator at Jangchub Choeling Nunnery in
Mundgod\, South India. She also serves as a core committee member of th
e Tenzin Gyatso Science Association. \nAs part of her own leadership train
ing\, Ani Choyang travels extensively\, deepening her connection to new
people and places and sharing her journey as a traditional Tibetan Buddhis
 t nun in a globalized\, secular world.

DESCRIPTION:The Hidden Happiness Tour\nwith Ani Choyang from Jangchub Choe
ling\nat Maitripa College and online\nPlease take advantage of this rare o
pportunity!  Join in person or online for any of the talks (no online acc
ess for the retreat). Details and registration links are below.  NOTE:
The Registration process for the onsite events and for online access via Z
oom is the same. \nTransforming Anger\, Anxiety\, and Death\n(format: afte
 rnoon/evening talk\, moderated)\nSunday\, September 20\, 11am-12:30pm (PT)
\nFew things touch every life as directly as anger\, anxiety\, and the fac
t of death\; this talk meets all three head-on\, offering the Buddhist tra
dition’s long experience in working with what most of us would rather av
oid. Ani Choyang speaks from lived monastic training and personal practice
\, translating ancient methods into guidance anyone can use. The talk sets
up the three programs Maitripa will offer across the coming year\, each d
evoted to one of these difficult\, universal experiences. \nRegister here
\n\nADDITIONAL EVENTS IN THIS SERIES:\n\n\nA Day for Women: Fierce and S
 teady Practice\nSaturday\, September 19\, 2-5 pm\n\n\nOn the afternoon of
Saturday\, September 19\, 2026\, Maitripa College will host a gathering fo
r women\, marking the close of the Hidden Happiness Tour’s Portland visi
t\, led by Ani Choyang\, Venerable Yönten\, and Maitripa College leadersh
ip. The intention is simple: to fill the space with women’s practice an
d to connect with one another with care and attention. Through sitting pra
ctice\, guided reflection\, and shared conversation\, the afternoon will t
urn toward the distinct qualities women have long carried within the tradi
tion\, a fierceness capable of meeting anger\, fear\, and mortality withou
 t flinching\, alongside a steady\, strong attention that holds space for o
thers to do the same. Consider it a first gathering\, seeds rather than ha
rvest\; what grows from it will depend on who comes and what each person b
rings. In person in Portland only. Enquire for details at education@mait
ripa.org.\n\nAbout Ani Choyang\nAni Choyang was born in Tibet and escaped
to India at age 18. She became a nun in 2003 under the guidance of His Hol
iness the 14th Dalai Lama. She received the Rapjampa Degree (similar to a
Master’s degree) in 2022 after completing a 17-year course of Buddhist
studies. She is in the third  year of Geshema program (Similar to a PhD).
\n\nShe is a Tenzin Gyatso Science Scholar and was one of the first Tibet
an nuns to attend a two-year science training program at Emory University
as part of the Emory Tibet Science Initiative. \nAni Choyang also partic
ipated in a science research internship at Northwestern University in 2022
\, where she received in-depth training in the theory and methods of neuro
science. \nCurrently\, Ani Choyang serves as Library and Learning Canter
Project Coordinator at Jangchub Choeling Nunnery in Mundgod\, South Ind
ia. She also serves as a core committee member of the Tenzin Gyatso Scien
ce Association. \nAs part of her own leadership training\, Ani Choyang t
ravels extensively\, deepening her connection to new people and places and
sharing her journey as a traditional Tibetan Buddhist nun in a globalized
 \, secular world.

d having an intersectional identity comes with extra complexities. \nThis
