 Since the release of her 2024 album Trail Of Flowers (Rounder Records)\,
  the West Virginia-born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist took home 
 the Artist of the Year and Album of the Year prizes at the Americana Honor
 s & Awards\, and won four GRAMMY awards for Best Americana Album (Trail o
 f Flowers)\, Best American Roots Performance (“Lighthouse”)\, Best Ame
 ricana Performance (“American Dreaming”)\, and Best American Roots Son
 g (“American Dreaming”). Ferrell has collaborated with the likes of M
 argo Price\, Old Crow Medicine Show\, and Post Malone\, and enchanted audi
 ences all over North America and Europe with her high-spirited and dazzlin
 g live performance. On Trail Of Flowers\, the Nashville-based artist expa
 nds her sound while deepening the urgency of her songs\, often revealing a
  wealth of wisdom within her wildly imaginative storytelling. \nHer first 
 full-length since Long Time Coming—a 2021 release that drew praise from
  outlets like Pitchfork\, Paste\, Pop Matters\, and No Depression—Trail

  all barriers of time. “I wanted to create something that makes people f
 eel nostalgic for the past\, but excited about the future of music\,” Fe
 rrell points out. \nInstantly proving her extraordinary capacity to merge 
 timeless musicianship with lyrics exploring modern concerns\, Trail Of Fl
 owers opens on “American Dreaming”: a world-weary yet soul-stirring t
 rack that speaks to the struggle to build a good life in a culture consume
 d by capitalism. Another song informed by her singular outlook on the mode
 rn world\, “Fox Hunt” takes the form of a furiously stomping epic driv
 en by galloping rhythms and some feverish fiddle work from Ferrell. On “
 Rosemary\,” she delves further into her old-time roots and delivers the 
 album’s most haunting moment: a stark but spellbinding story-song graced
  with a few bars of soulful yodeling. A profoundly gifted vocalist\, Ferre
 ll often captures an entire world of feeling in just a single line\, parti
 cularly on tracks like “Dollar Bill Bar”—a swinging but wistful numb
 er on which she cycles from longing to regret to devil-may-care attitude w
 ith impossible ease. And on “I Could Drive You Crazy\,” Ferrell serves
  up one of the most joyful moments on Trail Of Flowers\, sharing a harmon
 y-fueled and singalong-ready love song that’s both self-effacing and glo
 riously fun. \nIn selecting a title for her latest body of work\, Ferrell 
 chose to reference her deep love of flowers and affinity for surrounding h

  Soundsystem exist at the point of a Venn diagram where the loose grooves 
 of disco bump up against the wiry spikiness of post-punk\, and their songs
  hover between sharp-edged humor and heartfelt emotion. Their M.O. was not
 e-perfect from the beginning and when they debuted in 2002 with the hilari
 ous\, hipster-spoofing single “Losing My Edge\,” it set up the band an
 d their label DFA\, as the coolest things around. Driven by the vision of 
 James Murphy\, the band built on the dance floor impact of the song\, rele
 asing timeless singles like “Daft Punk is Playing at My House” and “
 Drunk Girls\,” as well as albums like 2007’s Sound of Silver that put 
 the band firmly at the head of the neo-disco class. Along the way\, Murphy
  showed a surprisingly poignant side on songs like “New York I Love You 
 But You’re Bringing Me Down” which stuck a deeper emotional chord than
  their more up-tempo songs. The band also became a huge live draw\, eventu
 ally selling out a farewell show at Madison Square Garden in 2011. The re-
 formed Soundsystem returned with the vintage-sounding American Dream in 20
 17\, then sporadically returned to fill clubs and in 2022 cranked out “N
 ew Body Rhumba\,” a dancefloor-filling single that had the same sharp ed
 ge as ever. \nVictoryland: Victoryland is the Brooklyn-based project of mu
 sician Julian McCamman. His label-debut\, My Heart Is A Room With No Camer
 as In It\, out January 23\, 2026 via Good English\, is a triumphant\, desp
 ondent\, and ultimately fun experimental pop-rock album. Victoryland start
 ed in Philly 2023 with the release of tape\, Sprain\, which echoed more of
  what the Philly scene was dishing out: lo-fi\, tape-recorded rock with a 
 capital R. It was the collaborative efforts of producer Dan Howard that br
 ought the new vision and sound into full focus.Dan and Julian previously w
 orked on Julian’s now-defunct Texas-to-Philly based band Blood’s last 
 LP\, a collaborative effort between six bandmates. That experience pushed 
 Julian toward a more personal process of recording\, starting with home de
 mos and then bringing them to Dan to shape into songs. \nMy Heart wrangles
  with heavy subject matter (love\, disconnection\, sexual frustration\, em
 ptiness etc.)\, but the terminal statement of the record is about the clea
 nsing nature of pop music. That\, if a song can force you to “bliss out
 ” over a hook or a loop\, or even make you dance\, it can be the spoonfu
 l of sugar to swallow the hard pill with\; this is what Victoryland strive
 s to do: package the most exhausting realities of life\, love\, and the se
 arch for connection in a world starved of it\, into a fun 2-5 minutes\, an
 d for the runtime of Victoryland’s first major statement\, you might eve
 n feel like you’re not alone.

 g around at a truck stop\, looking at all the funny T-shirts\,” Quinn sa
 ys of the track. “Maybe the road is pulling you apart\, but then you hav
 e those moments where you’re laughing and thinking\, ‘This is so fun.

 s with what happens when you do come home — the depression that creeps i
 n when the world goes quiet. As the track builds to a crescendo\, Quinn br

  and plays with the boundaries of contemporary art and culture in a boundl
 essly visceral and authentic sonic signature. With an arc that effortlessl
 y graces rock\, psychedelia\, and electronica in a constant re-invention o
 f pop music\, comparisons only serve as limitations intended to define tha
 t which cannot be. Yves Tumor melds restraint and chaos in a soulful clari
 ty\; diluting reality by giving meaning to the abstract and allowing for d
 issonance to be seen and heard as harmony.\n\nFiddlehead\nSince starting o
 ver a decade ago\, Fiddlehead’s members—vocalist Patrick Flynn\, guita
 rists Alex Henery and Alex Dow\, bassist Nick Hinsch\, and drummer Shawn C
 osta—have always written music for themselves first. “The thing that w
 e’re always chasing is that unified excitement\,” says Henery\, descri
 bing how Fiddlehead never sees an idea through unless there’s full belie
 f from every member. “We’ve gone into every record with the idea that 
 it might be the last thing we ever do\,” explains Flynn. “That was tru
 e even of the first EP: ‘This is probably the last thing—probably the 
 only thing.’ Everything’s been treated that way because of the nature 
 of our lives and our relationship with making music and creating art\; it
 ’s not career-driven. We don’t care if people like it\; we care if we
 ’re satisfied.”\nAfter their third album Death Is Nothing To Us\, Flyn
 n was concerned that making another album just because it’s what they sh
 ould do might spoil the energy of this thing he holds so dear. “This ban
 d has done such wonders for my life in a mental health way that I felt tot
 ally satisfied\, “says Flynn. “The concept of writing more after a thi
 rd LP was like\, ‘What are we fucking doing here?’” Tragically\, Fly
 nn soon found that answer. The week of Thanksgiving 2024\, Flynn’s wife 
 and kids were on a cruise with his in-laws while he stayed home to work. I
 t was there he received the call that his mother died. “It was the only 
 time in my life where if I wanted to see my children on a dime\, I couldn
 ’t. They were in the middle of the fucking ocean\; I felt completely iso
 lated\,” says Flynn. Two days later\, a knock at his door revealed guita
 rist Alex Henery and bassist Nick Hinsch\, who flew in from across the cou
 ntry to surprise their grieving friend.\nThough they convened as friends\,
  music started to share the space with them\, too. “We went to Pat’s h
 ouse just to support him in a dark time and then\, in that\, we ended up w
 riting music\,” says Henery. “It came out of a really good place\, of 
 us just wanting to write music together in that moment\, and that freed us
  up to experiment.” Reflecting on it now\, Flynn cuts to the core of wha
 t has kept Fiddlehead alive all these years: “I don’t think you get be
 tter friends than this.”\nWith new songs unexpectedly forming\, and a dr
 ive to deepen the scope of Fiddlehead’s musical landscape\, Dow received
  a fortuitous message from producer Alex Farrar (Wednesday\, Archers of Lo
 af\, M.J. Lenderman) offering to record new Fiddlehead material. The band 
 felt it was worth it to see what would come from a weekend in his North Ca
 rolina studio\, and what resulted is Baby I’ll Change\, a new three song
  EP that pushes the boundaries of what Fiddlehead can be.\nRaucous opener 
 “The Dogs” is the sound of a band reaffirming their commitments to one
  another\, and sharing that joy as one cohesive unit. Flynns sings about e
 ach bandmate with genuine love and appreciation as he simultaneously tries
  to process even more loss\, a recurring theme in the band’s beloved dis
 cography. “This is a gift of life to have four guys who I have no dysfun
 ction with\,” he says. “Those guys are my brothers and I wanted to sto
 p playing with them? Now I want to keep this thing going until the wheels 
 fall off.” Next comes “Porchlight\,” an exhilarating cut of alternat
 e tuning riffs and stirring vocal melodies. Finally there’s “Baby I’
 ll Change” the title track and stunning standout of the new EP. The song
  is unlike anything Fiddlehead has done before: a sprawlingly dynamic comp
 osition with triumphant reverb-drenched leads\, a charging rhythm section\
 , and perhaps the most cathartic finale the band has penned to date. Its t
 itle and lyrics were inspired by a phrase the deceased Boston hardcore leg
 end Jimmy Flynn (no relation to Patrick Flynn) would say\, always half-jok
 ing and half-wishing. “In my life\, I’ve been surrounded by addiction\
 , and a lot of hopeful people making big promises and seeing other version
 s of themselves\,” explains Flynn. “That\, to me\, is the greatest hea
 rtache of my life. It’s not seeing people fail\, it’s seeing people de
 sperately try to not fail.”\nAs Fiddlehead left the studio\, they were b
 uzzing at what they just created. Flynn says he was so charged up by what 
 just occurred that he couldn’t sleep that night. “It felt like a new b
 and in a very organic way\,” says Flynn\, quick to note that Fiddlehead 
 didn’t go into the studio with some self-inflated idea of reinventing th
 e band. They just did what they always have: listen to what’s inside of 
 them and find an honest way of expressing it. “There’s a lot of times 
 in the band group chat where we’re like\, ‘What if we did a song like 
 this?\,’” says Henery. “And that’s the thing—what if?”
