n\n\n\nLess than a decade into her career\, Katie Pruitt has cemented her
status as an essential artist who helps us make sense of modern life and u
ncover meaningful ways of moving through it. Since the arrival of her crit
ically celebrated full-debut Expectations (a 2020 LP that earned her an Em
erging Artist of the Year nomination from the Americana Music Association)
\, the Georgia-bred singer/songwriter/guitarist has assembled an acclaimed
body of work exploring questions both existential and intimate (e.g.\, id
entity\, self-acceptance\, the quiet courage of living truthfully). On her
new album Fools for the Fleeting\, the Nashville-based musician reckons w
ith the impermanence inherent to being human\, shifting between poetic obs
ervation and confessional storytelling as she confronts such complex matte
rs as ecological anxiety\, love’s intrinsic fragility\, and the profound
isolation normalized by our increasingly digitized existence. \n\n\n\nHer
third full-length and follow-up to 2024’s Mantras\, Fools for the Fleet
ing emerged from Pruitt’s vision of creating an album that feels “root
ed to the earth”—a concept closely tied to the LP’s underlying theme
of nature as a mirror for our inner lives. A prime showcase for her warm
and soulful voice\, the 10-song set centers on a powerful yet intentional
form of Americana/indie-rock\, steeped in acoustic instrumentation and the
beautifully imperfect friction of live performance\, courtesy of musician
s like Juan Solorzano (a guitarist known for his work with Ruston Kelly an
d Parker Millsap) and Aksel Coe (a drummer who’s played with Ella Langle
y and Sierra Ferrell). As Pruitt’s most outward-reaching and philosophic
ally rich work to date\, the result is a luminous meditation on transience
and grief\, connection as survival\, and the transformative power of pres
 ence and surrender. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\
n\n\n\n\n\n\nNext of Kin: \n\n\n\nNext of Kin is an alt-country trio with
 a sound that blends country-tinged soundscapes\, rich three-part harmonies
\, and honest storytelling. \n\n\n\nWhat first started as a chance collabo
ration between three solo artists transformed into much more. Some call it
fate\, others luck – they call it Next of Kin. \n\n\n\nWith the release
of their five-song Homemaker EP\, their place has been cemented as one of
the most exciting new voices in Americana. \n\n\n\n“They truly have the
same magic that brought together the Highwomen and Dolly\, Linda\, and Em
mylou. Next of Kin is that for their generation.” – KUTX \n\n\n\n“If
you’ve ever wondered what the Chicks’ career might’ve looked like h
ad they not been unfairly shunned by the industry\, keep a close eye on Ne
xt of Kin.” – The Current \n\n\n\nWebsite | Instagram

 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf Briscoe’s debut album was a coming-of-age soundtrac
k set against the backdrop of the Texas Hill Country\, then its follow-up\
, Heat of July\, is the sound of a fully formed duo chasing down a broader
horizon. Inspired by marriage\, landscapes\, and the cross-country tours
that took the band across America\, these new songs were written on the ro
ad— as eclectic and evocative as the terrain that unfolded just outside
the van’s windshield. \n\n\n\nOnce again\, Briscoe teamed up with Grammy
-nominated producer Brad Cook to bring the songs to life\, collaboratively
creating a record that expands their folk-rock sound in all directions. T
here are bigger arrangements\, sharper vocal harmonies\, and enough top-ti
er guest musicians—including members of Houndmouth\, Hiss Golden Messeng
 er\, Bon Iver\, Mipso\, and Watchhouse—to form their own supergroup. \n\
n\n\nThe result is a cinematic\, widescreen version of American roots musi

n\n\n\nEthan Setiawan & Fine Ground is deeply rooted in and colored by tra
ditional bluegrass\, yet forward-leaning into a thoughtful modernity. This
Boston-based quintet allies together some of the most athletic musical ac
es of the Northeast bluegrass scene: BB Bowness on banjo\, Julian Pinelli
on fiddle\, Alex Rubin on guitar\, Brittany Karlson on bass\, led by mando
linist Ethan Setiawan. Fine Ground gives us something to really sink our t
eeth into. \n\n\n\nNamed “creative and virtuosic” by WBUR Boston and
“one of the most formidable mandolinists of his generation” by The Blu
egrass Situation\, Setiawan is not short on accolades\, having secured bot
h the National Mandolin Championship and the Rockygrass Mandolin Champions
hip. The award-winning bandleader has built an eclectic career spanning tr
 aditional bluegrass\, Scottish folk music\, classical repertoire\, jazz\,
and original instrumental composition\, but Fine Ground grew from a desire
to return to the music that first inspired him. Rather than simply retrea
 ding bluegrass’s past\, Fine Ground’s debut album\, Little Storms\, re
flects the heart of the tradition with fresh original compositions alongsi
de songs from beloved contemporary folk artists. This new release brews to
gether a musical collection that feels equally at home in the bluegrass ca
non and today’s broader contemporary acoustic landscape. \n\n\n\nRecorde
d at Dimension Sound Studios\, Little Storms was recorded the way this dyn
amic band has always loved to make music together: live\, in a room\, list
ening and connecting to each other through the songs that move them. It is
a truthful and moving portrait of the musical depth that only comes hand-
in-hand with longtime friendship\, collaboration\, and love of craft. You
can look forward to Ethan Setiawan & Fine Ground’s debut record Little S
torms on October 2\, 2026. Little Storms was recorded by Dan Cardinal at D
imension Sound Studios\, mixed by Setiawan\, and mastered by Dave Glasser

n\n\n\nThe next chapter from the brothers who redefined Irish folk music.
\n\n\n\nFor over a decade\, David and Martin Howley have been at the heart
of a musical revolution. As founding members of We Banjo 3\, the Galway-b
orn brothers brought Irish traditional music to new heights\, blending it
with Americana\, bluegrass\, and contemporary songcraft to create a sound
beloved across the world. Their electrifying live shows\, virtuosic playin
g\, and brotherly chemistry made We Banjo 3 one of the most celebrated act
s on the international folk scene. \n\n\n\nNow\, the brothers return with
 a brand-new project: Howley — a re-imagining of that signature sound for
a new era. With Martin’s dazzling mastery on banjo and mandolin and Dav
id’s unmistakable voice and rhythmic guitar\, Howley is both a continuat
ion and a renewal\, rooted in tradition but reaching fearlessly toward the
  future. \n\n\n\nJoined by two world-class artists\, Kiana June (fiddle\,
vocals) and Caitlin Leahy (percussion\, flute\, vocals)\, Howley expands t
he brothers’ trademark sound with lush harmonies\, fiery fiddle\, and rh
ythmic flair. The result is warm\, vibrant\, and deeply human: a band that
feels both comfortingly familiar and thrillingly new. \n\n\n\nMartin Howl
ey\, a seven-time All-Ireland champion and the first Irish banjoist to per
form on the Grand Ole Opry\, brings dazzling precision and playful charism
a to every performance. \n\n\n\nDavid Howley\, known for his soulful voice
and magnetic stage presence\, fuses the sensitivity of a songwriter with
the power of a rock frontman. \n\n\n\nKiana June\, the “fiddle-fueled”
virtuoso of Gaelic Storm and Come From Away\, infuses the music with both
elegance and fire. \n\n\n\nCaitlin Leahy\, an accomplished multi-instrume
ntalist from the celebrated Leahy’s Luck family\, provides rhythmic hear
tbeat and shimmering vocal textures. \n\n\n\nTogether\, they form a sound
built on connection: the pulse of family\, the spark of shared history\, a
nd the joy of collaboration. \n\n\n\nWith Howley\, the brothers have creat
ed something new: music that celebrates their past but looks ahead with op
en arms. Their live show is full of laughter\, harmony\, and heart\, the k
ind of energy that reminds audiences why they fell in love with folk music
in the first place. \n\n\n\n“Fans of We Banjo 3 will recognize the spir
it — but Howley brings it into a new light: deeper\, braver\, and bursti
ng with soul.” \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram

2nd place rankings in the proceeding years. YouTube personality Rick Beat

n\n\n\nIt takes good soil\, and good seasons\, to bear good fruit\, and Up
state has had its plenty. The band sprung up in New York’s legendary Hud
son Valley\, set in the middle of a thick American musical heritage. To th
eir inland West was the Ashokan reservoir folk tradition\, and across the
river to the East the legacy of Pete Seeger and the Clearwater. Just north
of them was Woodstock and Big Pink\, and all the treasured inheritance of
Bob Dylan and the Band. Just south was Tony Falco’s famed venue the Fal
con\, a refuge and respite for some of the most venerable jazz legends lik
e Sonny Rollins or Joe Lovano. From the first\, Upstate drew liberally fro
m everything each corner had to offer. \n\n\n\nWith their first record\, A
Remedy\, they were known for three-part female vocal arrangements recalli
ng “not only the serpentine sibling harmonies of the Roches\, but of the
Andrews and Boswell sisters.” They were otherwise known for an eclectic
arrangement of instruments weaving together upright bass\, mandolin\, caj
on and baritone saxophone. By their second record Healing\, they were like
ned to Lake Street Dive and “Manhattan Transfer meets Loretta Lynn.” F
or their third\, You Only Get a Few\, they drew comparisons to the sound o
f Laurel Canyon\, another American musical landmark on the other side of t
he continent. This time they had shed the eclectic instrumentation in favo
r of traditional drums and guitars. \n\n\n\nAfter 15 years\, three records
\, nearly a dozen former members\, and one name change\, Upstate could alm
ost seem unrecognizable were it not for the constancy of their songs. Orig
inal members Melanie Glenn\, Harry D’Agostino\, and Mary Webster have be
en writing and playing music together throughout all the upheavals in the
band and their lives. It’s their shared dedication to writing songs of l
asting value that has persisted across all the changes to their sound. Whe
n Dylan Mckinstry finally joined the band in the years of the COVID pandem
ic\, his enthusiasm for that commitment made it the band’s lasting corne
rstone. \n\n\n\nOn their upcoming Abalone\, Upstate draws on the best of w
hat has marked the band in all its many eras. They showcase a broad range
of sounds and styles from across America’s musical landmarks\, from the
Hudson Valley to Laurel Canyon and back again (with a few detours to Muscl
e Shoals). They revive their noted three-part harmonies\, this time with M
cKinstry adding a male voice to the mix. And most importantly\, they bring
an even more seasoned dedication to writing and performing songs of lasti
 ng value. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nT
he Pinkerton Raid (Solo)\n\n\n\nThe Pinkerton Raid is led by songwriter Je
sse James DeConto\, a longtime journalist and storyteller whose songs draw
from family\, fatherhood\, history\, and the complicated world his childr
en are inheriting. Those themes come into sharper focus on the band’s la
test album\, IF YOU LOVE SOMEBODY\, TELL THEM\, co-produced with The Colle
ction’s David Wimbish and Bombadil’s James Phillips. A protest album r
ooted in care for one another\, its songs reckon with social inequities\,
collective trauma\, climate change\, and the possibilities of community an
d art in uncertain times. \n\n\n\nMusically\, Jesse draws from the sounds
he grew up with\, from Liverpool and Laurel Canyon to Motown\, folk\, and
Americana\, creating songs AMERICANA-UK has called “anthemic.” Critics
have heard echoes of Iron & Wine\, Neil Young\, Wilco\, and The Killers\,
and The Pinkerton Raid has shared stages with Sunny War\, Amythyst Kiah\,
TopHouse\, and Noah Gundersen. Following an official showcase at Folk All
iance International 2025 and appearances at grassroots festivals including
Mile of Music and AVLFest\, the band continues to bring Jesse’s soft-sp
oken protest songs\, storytelling\, and self-described “Big Dad Energy
” to stages around the country. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram
