DESCRIPTION:State Theatre & 98.9 WCLZ present\nAn Evening with Mt. Joy\nCe
 lebrating 10 Years\n\nWed\, September 23\, 2026\nThompson’s Point\nDoors
 : 5:30pm – Show: 7:00pm – all ages\n$70.50 advance $76.00 day of show
Kids 3 and under free\n\n\nTICKETS\n“Mt. Joy’s songs unfold like good
political speeches: They amble and converse and pulsate fervently until it
’s time to get the crowd chanting along.” – NPR \nSince forming in 2
016\, the Philadelphia native indie-rock band — comprised of Matt Quinn
 (vocals\, guitar)\, Sam Cooper (guitar)\, Jackie Miclau (keys\, piano)\, S
otiris Eliopoulos (drums)\, and Michael Byrnes (bass) — has put in their
10\,000 hours preparing for this very moment. \nAfter nearly a decade of
touring and recording three critically acclaimed albums (2018’s Mt. Joy\
 , 2020’s Rearrange Us\, and 2022’s Orange Blood)\, the five-piece reac
hed new heights in 2024\, selling out New York’s Madison Square Garden\,
The Greek Theater in Los Angeles\, Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheater\, an
d more\; their 70-date North American and European headline tour also sold
more than 180\,000 tickets. Mt. Joy’s momentum stemmed from years of ha
rd work cultivating an unforgettable stage presence and their laser focus
on organic growth. \nIn 2025\, Mt. Joy continued their ascent with the rel
ease of their fourth EP\, Hope We Have Fun\, on May 30\, and their wildly
successful North American tour of the same name. The Hope We Have Fun tour
saw the band reach new milestones\, with sold out shows at Boston’s TD
Garden\, Forest Hills Stadium in New York\, a record breaking performance
at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Denver\, and festival stops at Govern
or’s Ball and Rhode Island’s Newport Folk Festival. \nFor Quinn\, the
record speaks directly to the band’s long journey together — “We’v
e all worked incredibly hard together and done ridiculous things in sickne
ss and in health. You just kind of look up and you’re at Madison Square
Garden with these people\, and it makes you emotional — it feels like so
mething you never could have dreamed. The album is a realization that we p
ushed ourselves into this crazy world\, sometimes for better and sometimes
for worse. It’s a lot about sticking together in relationships\, living
a crazy lifestyle and just kinda saying\, ‘I hope we have fun.’” Th
e album’s thirteen tracks explore the high\, lows\, and intimate moments
of a life lived on the road\, with Quinn’s soulful vocals floating over
  intricate\, rootsy instrumentals. \nStart with the album’s lead single\
, “Highway Queen” (also out now as a duet with Grammy-winner Maren Mor
ris). In the sparkling\, acoustic guitar-driven track\, Quinn ruminates on
falling for a twin flame who lives for the escapism of transient life\, t
oo. “It’s a song about seeing how you deal with things in someone else
\,” he says. “Which is really comforting\, but it’s also an opportun
ity to be introspective and helpful to each other.” \n“God Loves Weird
os” dives deeper into life on the road\, after the stage lights go out.
“You pull into the gas station and those are your date nights — goofin
g around at a truck stop\, looking at all the funny T-shirts\,” Quinn sa
ys of the track. “Maybe the road is pulling you apart\, but then you hav
e those moments where you’re laughing and thinking\, ‘This is so fun.
I love this person.’”\n“More More More\,” on the other hand\, deal
s with what happens when you do come home — the depression that creeps i
n when the world goes quiet. As the track builds to a crescendo\, Quinn br
 eaks his own cycle\, howling “I got all I want” — a chill-inducing m
oment of catharsis. \nBut it wouldn’t be a Mt. Joy record without a part
y\, too. There’s the unapologetically grooving “She Wants to Go Dancin
g” written for a lover who brings you out of your shell at the club\, an
d “Coyote\,” an ode to Quinn’s bandmates sticking together that coul
d easily soundtrack a rager on a tour bus. Two dynamic collaborations roun
d out the record with features soon to be announced. \nTo date\, Mt. Joy h
as garnered over one billion global streams and has sold more than half a
million tickets\, with the singles “Silver Lining\,” “Jenny Jenkins\
 ,” “Lemon Tree\,” “Strangers\,” “Highway Queen\,” and “She
Wants to Go Dancing” all charting in the Top 5 on AAA radio. The band h
as earned critical acclaim from major media outlets including The New York
  Times\, Rolling Stone\, Billboard\, NPR\, and PEOPLE\; they’ve also gra
ced the stage at top festivals around the world\, as well as on late-night
TV shows including James Corden\, Conan O’Brien\, Stephen Colbert\, and
Jimmy Kimmel. In 2026\, Mt. Joy will make their Australia and New Zealand
debut for St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival.

n\n\n\nThere are songwriters who chronicle life\, and then there’s David
Wilcox—an artist who metabolizes it. He has long been a quiet force in
 American folk music\; a musician’s musician\, a writer’s writer\, and
a seeker whose gift lies in making the personal feel universal. \n\n\n\n
With the release of The Way I Tell the Story (2025)\, Wilcox proves\, y

h space for the listener to feel what Wilcox has always done best: tell th
 e truth\, gently but without apology.The music he’s creating now comes f
rom a place that can’t be faked. In recent years\, Wilcox’s life has b
een shaped by his wife’s Parkinson’s diagnosis—a shift that reordere
d his priorities and redefined his sense of time\, love\, and presence. Bu
t rather than retreat\, Wilcox leaned in. “Times get tough\, and music g
ets good\,” he says\, and means it. These songs don’t dramatize. They
don’t resolve neatly. They sit in the complexity of living—open-eyed\,
unafraid\, quietly brave. \n\n\n\nWilcox’s career began in earnest i
n the late 1980s\, when his self-released debut The Nightshift Watchman ca
ught the attention of A&M Records. His major-label debut\, How Did You Fin
d Me Here (1989)\, became an unexpected hit\, selling over 100\,000 copies
largely by word of mouth and live shows alone—an unheard-of feat for a
debut folk record. Critics took note of his deft guitar work and emotional
clarity\, but it was the unassuming wisdom threaded through his lyrics th
at truly set him apart. Rolling Stone praised his “soulful insight\,”
while The New York Times called his music “a kind of open- hearted thera
py.” \n\n\n\nWhat followed was a string of acclaimed albums—Big Hor
izon (1994)\, Turning Point (1997)\, What You Whispered (2000) each one re
fining his reputation as a songwriter who knows how to say hard things in
soft\, lasting ways. Over the years\, he’s shared stages and collaborati
ons with artists like Shawn Colvin\, Patty Larkin\, Pierce Pettis\, and Jo
hn Gorka—fellow craftspeople committed to song over spectacle. But Wilco
x has never followed the current. He’s followed the work\, and in 2018 W
ilcox won top honors In the 23rd annual USA Songwriting for his effervesce
nt “We Make the Way by Walking” from his album\, The View From the Edg
 e. \n\n\n\nThat work has earned him quiet but enduring respect. His son
gs have been covered by k.d. lang and Tony Rice\; his guitar work studied
by those who understand that precision\, when rooted in care\, becomes its
own kind of virtuosity. His influence runs deep\, especially among younge
r artists trying to build something real in a world obsessed with surface.
\n\n\n\nWilcox’s music still resonates\, especially now\, because it do
esn’t try to outpace the moment. It meets it. In his world\, craft is a
form of care. Introspection is a public offering. And staying soft in a ha
 rd world isn’t a liability—it’s a kind of leadership. \n\n\n\nFor au
diences seeking something more than noise\, more than nostalgia\, Wilcox
’s songs remain a rare kind of company. Not flashy. Not loud. Just deepl
 y\, generously alive. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram
