  governor grants a reprieve to an African American convict if the condemne
 d man agrees to serve as sheriff of a small Western town\, believing that 
 new sheriff will only live long enough to serve the needs of the governor 
 and his nefarious railroad-baron backer. Academy Award nominations for Bes

 I watch movies to be transported to another world. Because I play with sca
 le and color in my art practice\, I think a lot about how my images are ki
 nd of impossible. No human has a hand 24 inches long. No landscape is cyan
  blue. These images exist in a kind of Wonderland of my own imagining — 
 much like the fantastical plots of the movies in this series. \nEach feat
 ure is paired with a short film by my partner\, Joshua Frankel — another
  beautiful person doing impossible things. \n—Eve Biddle \nBlazing Sadd
 les paired with  \nJoshua Frankel’s Bicycle Messengers (2006\, 5 minu
 tes) \nThe fastest gun in the west and the fastest way to get crosstown. 
 \nFor Frankel’s first short film\, he captured consumer DV footage of Mi
 dtown Manhattan and animated bicycle messengers weaving between live actio
 n traffic. \nThis work was created amidst a cultural moment centering bic
 ycles in the early 2000’s\, including film\, fashion\, alleycat races\, 
 underground modified bicycle jousting\, and activism that ultimately lead 
 to the proliferation of bike lanes in American cities.  \nBlazing Saddle
 s is also art that changed history. Some say its satire cut so deep that a
 fter its release\, Hollywood never made a Western genre film in its classi
 c style — with rose-tinted lenses — ever again. \nRevolution has neve
 r been more side-splittingly funny. \nSaddle up!

 d dies from a fentanyl overdose\, leaving behind hours of personal video f
 ootage. Retracing Adrian’s final years\, McElwee reckons with what his c
 amera captured and what remained hauntingly out of frame. As he reflects o
 n a lifetime behind the camera\, Ross’s own effort to remix and remake t

 eractive website project that tells the stories of women who have experien
 ced incarceration in Maine. \nThe feature documentary Tehachapi\, directe
 d by JR\, captures the stories of the incarcerated men with whom he collab
 orated to create monumental artworks in a U.S. maximum-security prison. \n
 In October 2019\, JR received unprecedented permission to work in one of C
 alifornia’s most violent supermax prisons: Tehachapi. There\, he met wit
 h a group of 28 incarcerated men\, many of whom were serving life sentence
 s for crimes committed as minors. JR invited them to participate in an art
  project\, never anticipating the ripple effects the mural would have. \n
 The film Tehachapi follows the journey of the participants as they tell th
 eir stories\, reconnect with family\, and heal. It demonstrates how art is
  a powerful force for hope\, reveals individuals’ capacity for change\, 
 and offers a poignant look at the humanity within prison walls. \nTehacha
 pi is an official selection at the International Documentary Film Festival

  of impossible. No human has a hand 24 inches long. No landscape is cyan b
 lue. These images exist in a kind of Wonderland of my own imagining — mu
 ch like the fantastical plots of the movies in this series. \nEach featur
 e is paired with a short film by my partner\, Joshua Frankel — another b
 eautiful person doing impossible things. \n—Eve Biddle \nWho Framed Rog
 er Rabbit (1988\, 104 minutes) paired with  \nJoshua Frankel’s Plan of
  the City (2011\, 13 minutes) \nFrankel’s acclaimed “city symphony”
  is paired with one of greatest urban planning films of all time… Who Fr
 amed Roger Rabbit. \nRobert Zemeckis’s classic is most famous for combi
 ning animation with live action. But as the mystery at heart of this noir 
 unravels\, the heroes find themselves in a fantastical community defined b
 y social segregation that feels all too familiar\, and discover a nefariou

 rformed by NOW Ensemble\, and was called “One of the best matches of vis
