DESCRIPTION:Directed by Ross McElwee. 116 minutes. Not Rated. In English.
\nScreening at SPACE Gallery and co-presented with SPACE Gallery. \nFilm
maker Ross McElwee has spent forty years recording himself and his family\
, creating documentaries that chronicle the shifting contours of American
society through the lens of personal history. His son Adrian grew up insid
e those films\, and eventually began experimenting with the camera himself
. When a Hollywood producer acquires the rights to adapt McElwee’s 1986
breakthrough Sherman’s March into a work of fiction\, twenty-year-old Ad
rian sees a chance for his father to finally reach a wider audience. As th
e adaptation stalls\, Adrian gets swept into a deepening drug addiction an
d dies from a fentanyl overdose\, leaving behind hours of personal video f
ootage. Retracing Adrian’s final years\, McElwee reckons with what his c
amera captured and what remained hauntingly out of frame. As he reflects o
n a lifetime behind the camera\, Ross’s own effort to remix and remake t
he movie that Adrian never got to finish takes on new significance. An eve
r-expanding hall of mirrors built from decades of home movies\, Remake is
both McElwee’s attempt to hold onto his son\, and to let him go.

DESCRIPTION:Shane Charles – Site-based activation\nThursday\, September
 17\, 3pm – 5pm \nA site-based activation within an engineered sculptural
system built from timber\, oxidized steel\, and machined joinery. Breath\
, moisture\, and pressure operate as material methods: contact transfers r
esidue\, corrosion advances\, and the surface records what occurs in real
time. Time reads as a physical interface—irreversibility and emergence c
arried forward through touch\, weight\, and chemical change. \n\nClick her
 e to register.\n\n \nSHANE CHARLES is a sculptor working across Maine\, B
oston\, New York\, and internationally—engineering installations from Ea
 stern Woodlands–sourced timber\, oxidized body-print on steel\, hand-cas
t metal\, and machined hardware—works in which contact is not image\; pr
essure not metaphor\; but consequence. Surface meets surface. Load to cons
traint. Breath into substrate. The body registers into steel as real trans
fer\; and does not reverse. In this practice\, the body is material histor
y\; somatic memory is physical—experience as mortality witnessed. Archit
ectural framing and performative activation operate as a single horizon sy
stem: condition with contact is form. Touch is the context in which the in
ert past faces potential—emergence carried forward by irreversibility.
