DESCRIPTION:Spatial applications\, i.e.\, applications that tie digital in
formation with the physical world\, have improved many of our daily activi
ties\, such as navigation and ride-sharing. This class of applications als
o holds significant promise of enabling new industries such as augmented r
eality and robotics. The development of these applications is enabled by s
patial intelligence systems\, or systems that can provide physically-groun
ded services such as routing\, spatial search\, and localization. Today\,
mapping platforms provided by organizations like Google and Apple serve as
spatial intelligence systems. These maps are centralized and primarily co
ver outdoor spaces. We envision that future spatial applications\, such as
persistent world-scale augmented reality and robotics\, would require det
ailed and precise spatial intelligence across indoor and outdoor spaces. T
he scale of cartography efforts required to survey indoor spaces and their
privacy needs inhibit existing centralized maps from incorporating such s
paces into their platform.\n\nThis thesis proposes the design and implemen
tation of OpenFLAME\, a federated spatial intelligence platform built on t
wo core pillars. First\, it introduces a federated mapping infrastructure
where independent parties can manage and serve their own maps of physical
regions. This unlocks scalability of map management\, isolation\, and priv
acy of maps. This is implemented on top of the existing Domain Name System
(DNS)\, which enables us to leverage its existing infrastructure. Second\
, it explores the development of spatial services\, such as search\, routi
ng\, and localization\, by transforming raw spatial data (e.g.\, images an
d videos) of a space into structured\, queryable maps that support these c
 apabilities.\n\nThesis Committee\nSrinivasan Seshan (Co-Chair)\nAnthony Ro
we (Co-Chair)\nJustine Sherry\nHari Balakrishnan (Massachusetts Institute
of Technology)\n\nIn Person and Zoom: \nhttps://cmu.zoom.us/j/93784786365?

DESCRIPTION:Fix A BikeFree Ride is not a traditional repair shop during Op
en Shop. You can fix a bike using the bicycle tools and parts available at
Free Ride\, or you can buy used bicycles and parts.  Designated Volunte
er Staffers are on-hand if you have questions about how to do a repair –
but Free Ride is a ‘Do It Yourself’ Shop.  Our goal is to let people
get comfortable repairing bikes\, experimenting with new tools and helpin
g them learn mechanics.  Please hold us to this – we do not want to
‘take tools out of hands’ or give unsolicited repair advice. If you en
joy helping people with bikes and bike-repair questions – and would like
to do this during Open Shop – please consider becoming a Free Ride ‘S
taffer’.  We are always looking for new volunteers. There is a $5 fee to
use the shop for repairs – waived if you have an Access Card\, also pay
able with Volunteer-Credit.We do not take donated items in exchange for us
ed items in our stock – ie: no trades – but we do offer a tax receipt
for items donated.Buy a BikeBicycles are sold as-is and the price is set i
n advance.  For used parts we request a monetary donation.  We take cas
h and cards for payments and donations. We also take Free-Ride-In-Shop Cre
dit as payment. In-Shop Credit\, earned by volunteering at Free Ride on Vo
lunteer nights\, is redeemable towards bicycles\, the shop fee\, or as a d
onation for used parts.  You can redeem your own shop credit on behalf of
someone else as a gift.  In-Shop Credit cannot be used to purchase brand
-new items we stock our shop with\, like brake-pads\, or T-Shirts. There i
s a 2 bike per person limit on Open Shop bike-purchases on any given day.
Employees of Construction Junction\, after 90 days of employment – are e
ntitled to a 50% discount on all used bicycles.

For others\, this may reinvigorate your faith. For everyone else\, this is
a great way to experience Jesus in new and fresh ways. At the end of the
10 weeks\, we will gather together as seven campuses in one location to ce
