DESCRIPTION:A wedding in the Pakistani city of Sahiwal should be a time of
celebration\, but this bride and groom are both cursed. Sajawal (Channan
Hanif)\, the husband-to-be\, has a prominent facial birthmark which has le
ft him introverted and suspicious of a world that mocks him\, while his fu
ture wife Zeba (Mamya Shajaffar) has a past filled with dead fiancés. Thi
s heady tonal mash-up from Sarmad Sultan Khoosat takes some wildly unexpec
ted turns\, from black comedy to surrealist horror. Lali is melodrama\, it
is a story of possession\, and is it a mediation on marriage. Throughout\
, the film demonstrates an intoxicating and vividly uninhibited piece of f
 ilmmaking.\n\nOfficial Selection: Berlinale (2026)

DESCRIPTION:Before the Bright Day\, the poignant directorial debut of emer
ging Taiwanese filmmaker Shih-Han Tsao\, captures a young man’s turbulen
t coming-of-age against the backdrop of the 1996 Taiwan Strait Crisis. Cho
u\, labeled a “B-class loser” by his teacher\, yearns for more than hi
s uneventful adolescence—especially with Min\, the girl he likes\, place
d in the elite A-class. Disillusioned by his bleak home life and drawn to
rebellion\, Chou idolizes a small-time gang leader named Button. But as po
litical tensions rise and his family’s financial stability crumbles\, Ch
ou’s world begins to fall apart. Button leaves for the military\, his hi
gh school crush’s family may emigrate from the threat of impending war\,
and Chou is caught smoking\, which is cause for expulsion. Drifting witho
ut direction\, he must navigate a society on edge\, where youthful dreams
and harsh realities collide. With raw emotion and historical resonance\, B
efore the Bright Day explores identity\, class\, and disillusionment durin
g a pivotal moment in Taiwan’s modern history.\n\nBest Director Nominee:

DESCRIPTION:Following the horrific death of their mother while on the job
at a wig factory in Jakarta\, sisters Putri (Rachel Amanda) and Ida (Lutes
ha) decide to visit the premises to investigate. Upon arriving at the gloo
my\, prison-like building\, they meet the mysterious and intimidating Mrs.
Maryati (Didik Nini Thowok)\, the owner of the Evergreen factory\, who te
lls them they will have to work there to pay off the colossal debt their l
ate mother had incurred to fund Ida’s education. There are great bonuses
\, but the workers live in an exhausted\, zombie-like state. When more wor
kplace accidents (and eventual deaths) occur\, the sisters begin to invest
igate. This visceral\, grotesque body horror underscores the relationship
between violence and labor\, and the ability of capitalism to both steal e
verything from the human body and also to use even magic as a labor-saving
resource in the pursuit of global profit.

DESCRIPTION:In Filipiñana\, Isabel—a new “tee girl” at a luxury gol
f course’s –attempts to navigate the quiet luxury and ruthless hierarc
hical structure of Manila’s wealthy elite. Even as Isabel becomes increa
singly entranced with the club’s president Mr. Palanca\, she also seems
to know secrets that point to Palanca’s dark history. The film’s highl
y artificial shots of composed pastel symmetries and minutely choreographe
d workers paint a portrait of a Manila’s high society as simultaneously
banal and terrifying. The luxurious facility echoes the country’s instab
ilities: its challenges from climate upheaval amid an increasingly wealthy
elite\, its history of violence\, and its underlying class conflicts. Fir
st-time feature director Rafael Manual’s confident artisanship and darkl
y funny writing are remarkable\, but Jorrybell Agota (Isabel) is the stand
out star of the film\, as a young woman who wants a different life than ha
s been allocated to her. Her relationship with Palance maps the Philippine
s’s past onto its present\, showing how even the most elite can’t esca
pe the realities in which they live. \n\nBest First Feature Nominee: Berl

ered Bridge during Washington & Greene Counties’ Annual Covered Bridge F
estival! \nOriginally built in 1871\, this iconic bridge once crossed Tom
’s Run in the quaint village of Pine Bank\, Greene County\, Pa. When it
faced demolition in 1961\, Meadowcroft’s visionary founder\, Albert Mill

home at Meadowcroft. \nToday\, the beautifully restored pedestrian bridge
stands as a proud reminder of Western Pennsylvania’s past. After undergo
ing a major rehabilitation in 2017\, it continues to captivate visitors wi
th its craftsmanship and history. \nWhen this bridge was first built\, the
re were over 10\,000 covered bridges across the U.S.—today\, fewer than
700 remain. Don’t miss your chance to explore this rare piece of 19th-ce

A View of the Seaside” and “Mr. Ben and His Igloo”– the film conne
cts and contrasts two moments in time and space\, explore how lives and st
ories can be viewed\, reviewed\, and reimagined in cinema. In the first st
ory\, a damp\, windswept summer by the sea provides the location where two

 he second\, a screenwriter\, Li\, meets the enigmatic innkeeper Benzo at a
remote snowy inn. In both\, director Sho Mikaye (whose first film\, Small

DESCRIPTION:Ky Nam Inn\, a romance set in 1980’s Saigon\, explores the f
rustrations of desire when cast against duty\, community\, expectation\, a
nd authoritarianism. Khang wants to prove himself to be a skilled translat
or\, even though he may have gotten his job translating The Little Prince
from nepotism. Meanwhile\, his neighbor Ky Nam caters lunches out of her k
itchen while suffering from judgement because of her deceased husband’s
southern associations. Though the film and its characters are unabashedly
beautiful\, the love story is rooted in literature and language. Their rel
ationship grows because of—and in spite of—how languages cannot close
the gaps between cultures\, classes\, and regions. Shot on luminous 35mm\,
the lyrical film explores what can and cannot be said in a world with dut
ies\, rules\, and expectations. \n\nBest film: Beijing International Film

DESCRIPTION:3670 is a group text code for a meet-up of a special club of f
riends. For Cheol-jun\, a young North Korean defector building a life in S
eoul\, it becomes the address of a self he has never been able to show in
public. By day he works part-time at a convenience store\, crams for the c
ollege entrance exam\, and depends on the fellow defectors who have taken
him in. But there is a secret he cannot let even his closest friends know:
he is gay. After a chance encounter with another gay man\, he is pulled i
nto Seoul’s queer social world: new friends and the messy thrill of want
ing someone who may want someone else. Park Joon-ho’s debut keeps the me
lodrama low and moves with Cheol-jun’s emotional weather\, as he experie
nces the cruelties and beauty of friendship.
