DESCRIPTION:“Cross Check: William Wegman and Jacob Trouba\,” brings to
gether the distinct practices of artist William Wegman and professional ho
ckey player turned artist Jacob Trouba. “Cross Check: William Wegman and
Jacob Trouba” explores movement as a form of artistic production\, tran
slation\, and collaboration. Rooted in the shared language of hockey\, the
exhibition examines the body as both subject and medium through a series
of collaborative works presented publicly for the first time. Drawing on h
is experience as an athlete\, Trouba covers himself in ink while wearing h
ockey gear and propels himself across the canvas\, leaving behind marks th
at record speed\, force\, and impact. Wegman responds by translating those
gestures into paintings that reinterpret the movement at an intimate scal
e\, creating an ongoing dialogue between action and reflection. Borrowing
its title from the hockey maneuver in which a player forcefully checks an
opponent with both hands on the stick\, Cross Check reveals how physicalit
y\, play\, and creative exchange transform movement\, whether on the ice o
r in the studio\, into a powerful form of artistic expression. \n\n“Cros
s Check: William Wegman and Jacob Trouba” is organized by Senior Curator
Alana Hernandez and Windgate Curatorial Fellow Sade Moore and made possib
le by generous funding from NHL Unites. Additional support is provided by
the ASU Art Museum’s Creative Impact Board\, Director’s Council and I
 nnovation Council.

DESCRIPTION:“Wrought by Fire: Metalwork of the Southwest” seeks to cha
llenge the traditionally male-dominated history of metalworking by highlig
hting the work of four women artists –– Kim Cridler (United States\, b
 . 1968)\, Siri Devi Khandavilli (United States\, b. India)\, Wanesia Misqu
adace (Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa\, b. 1971)\, and Agnese
Udinotti (United States\, b. Greece 1940). This multigenerational grouping
of artists lends itself to a rich conversation about training\, history\,
and material concerns. Through diverse alloy-based practices\, the exhibi
tion explores connections between the body\, nature\, labor and regional c
ulture\, revealing metalwork as both an artistic and cultural form of tran
sformation. \n  \n“Wrought by Fire: Metalwork of the Southwest” is or
ganized by Windgate Curatorial Fellow Sade Moore and made possible by gene

DESCRIPTION:In 2024\, Heidi Dauphin and Laura Spalding Best were paired up
to create an installation for Artlink’s Annual Gala at the Phoenix Art
Museum. The two initially were uncertain how their practices would mesh as
Dauphin is a mixed media/ceramic artist while Best is best known for her
found object paintings and murals. However\, after their first meeting\, t
hey formed an instant connection and friendship. Their conversations laste
d for hours\, discussing their individual practices. Among the many common
alities between both of their work was their desires to collect objects wh
ether it be personal everyday items or found objects. Each of their collec
tions were immense. Dauphin has an entire room dedicated to items she has
saved over the years to use in her artwork while Best’s house has what s
he deems as\, “paintings in waiting” tucked away throughout her house.
Both realized that they wanted to peel back the curtain of their artistic
practice and share their collection of objects but how? \nThat is when th
e idea of Curiosity Chapel was born. The team searched for months finding
the right furniture to house their collection\, creating a free-standing r
oom from thrifted cabinets and dressers. Hidden inside the drawers were co
llections of objects from both Dauphin and Best’s studios. With each new
drawer to open\, a new discovery. Visitors spent hours going through each
of the cabinets finding interesting collections of items along the way fr
om bread tags to silver spoons. The question that frequently fell from vis
itor’s lips\, “What’s next?” The duo felt this natural inertia to
continue this installation and began discussing possibilities. Their resol
ution: implode Curiosity Chapel. \nFor The Collectionists\, the artists de
cided that their one guiding rule for the exhibition would be that they co
uld only create artwork from the collections that were in Curiosity Chapel
. While on the surface\, the exhibition appears to be about two artists th
at have an affinity to collect found objects\, their practices are more in
terwoven than that. This exhibition explores the intersections of Dauphin
and Best’s practices including their affinity for numbers and both of th
eir habits of creating rules around their artwork. However\, what seems to
be most apparent in both of their work is how both of their artworks seem
to collect something much more existential\, the passage of time. \nOpeni
 ng Reception\nFriday\, September 11\, 6-8pm \nRSVP

DESCRIPTION:Phoenix\, AZ – After a week of widespread speculation spar
ked by a cryptic yellow brick road teaser reading simply “Summer 2026”
\, Zeds Dead have officially revealed their next chapter: Journey of a
Lifetime\, the largest and most ambitious headlining tour of their 15-year
career: a full-scale amphitheater and major market run across the U.S. an
d Canada celebrating the complete arc of Zeds Dead\, including a stop in M
esa\, Arizona on September 18 and 19. \nJourney of a Lifetime is designed
 as a career-spanning live experience – a full-catalog set drawing from t
heir earliest MySpace releases and Bassmentality-era edits through platinu
 m-certified records\, festival-defining anthems\, and their most recent ci
nematic work. It will feature the most expansive production design the duo
has ever toured\, incorporating evolved visual storytelling inspired by t
he television and space-travel motifs introduced in the Return to the Spec
trum of Intergalactic Happiness era. \n\nQuote from Zeds Dead:\n“Journey
of a Lifetime is one of the first tracks we uploaded to the World Wide We
b as Zeds Dead way back in 2009. 17 years later\, it feels like it was a p
rophecy. We might not have realized it at the time\, but we were in fact b
lasting off into space and leaving behind life as we knew it. This journey
is your journey with us as well. We’ve grown up together and celebrated
life. We’ve created a world together\, and the Journey of a Lifetime to
ur aims to be our most thorough exploration of it. This will be our bigges
t tour yet\, as it’s taking place in large outdoor venues\, and we’re
going to make it the best show we can make. It will be the grand finale of
everything we’ve been working on. It’s not the end\, though. To quote
something we sampled in a beat once\, “Now this is not the end. It is n
ot even the beginning of the end. But it is\, perhaps\, the end of the beg
inning.” We’ll be taking some time off in 2027\, so we’re going all
out on production\, new music\, and stage design to bring you a new show t
hat will take you on a magical journey. A journey of a lifetime. See you t
here.“\n\n\nSince emerging from Toronto’s underground scene in 2009\,
Dylan Mamid (DC) and Zachary Rapp-Rovan (Hooks) have built one of electron
ic music’s most loyal and enduring fanbases. What began as DIY weekly pa
rties under the Bassmentality banner evolved into global touring\, platinu
m records\, and the launch of their influential independent label\, Deadbe
ats – which celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year.\n\nTheir annua
l Deadrocks residency at Red Rocks Amphitheatre has sold out every year si
nce 2014\, becoming a pilgrimage moment for fans and a cornerstone of Nort
h American dance culture. Over time\, Zeds Dead shifted away from exhausti
ve touring toward intentional\, multi-night anchor events – treating liv
e performance as a curated ritual rather than a standard run of shows.\n\n
The tour will hit 15 dates across major amphitheaters and iconic venues\,
including two nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre\, a return to Toronto\, ma
jor New York and Los Angeles plays\, and select Canadian stops – marking
some of their most significant routing in years.\nA rotating cast of for
ward-thinking support will join the run\, including ALLEYCVT\, Daily Bre
 ad\, Deathpact\, Dr. Fresch\, IMANU\, Ivy Lab\, Mary Droppinz\, Mood
y Good\, and Whethan. The lineup will vary across markets\, reflecting th
e genre-fluid ecosystem Zeds Dead have cultivated through both their touri
ng history and the Deadbeats label.\n\nThe Arizona stop\, produced by Rele
ntless Beats and Low End Lab\, along this ‘Journey of a Lifetime’ will
take place on Friday\, September 18\, and Saturday\, September 19\, at Me
sa Amphitheatre. Support for this stop includes IMANU and Ivy Lab\, respec
tively. Further details available here.\n\nJourney of a Lifetime is more
than a tour – it’s a reflection point. A celebration of 15 years of ge
 nre-defying output\, from hip-hop-infused dubstep beginnings to cinematic\
, cross-genre spectacle. It is both retrospective and forward-looking\, re
inforcing Zeds Dead’s position as touring architects and cultural mainst
ays within electronic music.\n\n\nTickets for Zeds Dead Journey of a Lifet
ime Tour go on sale Wednesday\, March 11\, at 10a MT. Zeds Dead has partn
ered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket supports organizations expanding acc

DESCRIPTION:Go Team Pollinator! Today the focus is on our small but mighty
(and mighty important!) pollinators\, who play a key role in keeping our
desert beautiful and providing food for many animals\, including humans! W
e explore from flies to butterflies\, gnats to bats\, and so much more! Th
ree different 35-minute workshops will take place on the half-hour startin
g at 9:00am and Rangers Jacque\, Nikki and Olivia will be your guides. Po
llinators: Celebrities like bees\, butterflies and hummingbirds get most
of the attention but let’s not forget about the low-key beetles\, ants\,
moths and more that keep the system in motion. You can also take part in
a relay race to experience some of the obstacles a pollinator must overcom
e to get the job done. Invasive Species: Learn about some of the invasiv
e\, non-native plants in our area that take over habitat and prevent nativ
e plants from growing – and reduce food available to our pollinators! Yo
u can also play a game to see how human and natural factors impact the sur
vival and success of our native species. The struggle is real! Plant a Se
ed: Become a Pollinator Protector by planting native seeds in a pot that
you can take home. Find out which plant types and colors attract different
pollinators so you can create a mini oasis in your back yard. \nOptional:
Enhance your experience by creating a citizen science record of observati
ons we make today (we’ll talk more about that during class!) using your
phone or tablet. Download the free iNaturalist app and create an account a
t home beforehand\, as there is limited connectivity in the park. (Seek by
iNaturalist is an alternative that is geared toward younger users and doe
s not use location data). \nOne workshop takes place on the Nature Center
’s shaded back patio\, one workshop is split between indoors and outdoor
s\, and one is outdoors the entire time. There is minimal walking on compa
cted gravel trail surfaces near the Nature Center and asphalt in the parki
ng lot for the games. Wear closed-toe shoes\, sun protective clothing and
a hat. Be sure to bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available
at the Nature Center. \nMEETING LOCATION: Nature Center \nNo pre-registra
tion required. Upon arrival at the Nature Center\, add your name to the Si
gnup Sheet for the Start Time that you want: 9:00am\, 9:40am\, 10:20am\, 1
1:00am\, 11:40am. All three topics (Pollinators\, Invasive Species and Pla
nt a Seed) are available at each Start Time and workshops run concurrently
. There is a limit of 20 people per time slot. Be sure to give yourself en
ough time (2 hours) to take part in all three sessions before the event en
 ds at 12:15pm! \nAges 6 – 12

DESCRIPTION:The first reported HIV case in 1981 sparked widespread fear an

here was new hope as HIV rates were decreasing\, and new treatments helped
people live longer\, healthier lives.   \n\nFast-forward to December 17

community and empower you through education\, testing\, and support.
\n\nWe Can All Make a Difference   \n\nOne of the most powerful ways to
challenge HIV stigma is to talk openly about HIV.   \n\nStarting a con

DESCRIPTION:Join us on September 18 at noon as we welcome Kathryn Paige Ha
rden\, PhD\, to discuss her new book Original Sin: On the Genetics of Vice
\, the Problem of Blame\, and the Future of Forgiveness.\nClick here to re
gister for this virtual presentation.\nIn Original Sin\, acclaimed psychol
ogist Kathryn Paige Harden explores how genetics complicates traditional c
oncepts of blame\, punishment\, and moral responsibility. Integrating cutt
ing-edge DNA research with personal insights\, Harden examines the tension
between biological constraints and human agency through the lenses of add
iction\, violence\, and antisocial behavior. Rather than using science to
absolve wrongdoers or make guilt obsolete\, she challenges readers to reck
on differently with fairness. Ultimately\, this revelatory inquiry urges u
s to move past ancient nature-versus-nurture debates to imagine a more hum
ane\, realistic vision of accountability for ourselves and society.\n\nKat
hryn Paige Harden is a professor in the department of psychology at the Un
iversity of Texas at Austin\, where she leads the Developmental Behavior G
enetics lab. Harden received her PhD in clinical psychology from the Unive
rsity of Virginia and completed her clinical internship at McLean Hospital
/Harvard Medical School. She has been honored by the American Psychologica
l Association for her distinguished scientific contributions to the study
of genetics and human individual differences.

DESCRIPTION:MIM’s theater team creates exceptional experiences for guest
s and performers\nTheater technician Laura Smith (left) and theater produc
tion manager Nick Cecconi (right) set the stage before a concert at the MI
M Music Theater. \n \nEvery year\, the MIM Music Theater presents more tha
n 360 performances by acclaimed musicians from around the world. Under the
leadership of artistic director Andrew Walesch\, the theater features a d
iverse lineup of artists spanning genres\, cultures\, and musical traditio
ns. Each performance offers an outstanding experience for guests and perfo
rmers alike thanks to the behind-the-scenes work of MIM’s theater team.
\nOnce an artist is booked\, theater production manager Nick Cecconi drive
s the technical and production aspects of the concert\, communicating with
artists’ managers\, coordinating logistics\, and overseeing technical c
onsiderations. Nick works closely with artists’ representatives to ensur
e that production details are addressed well before show day. \nFrom a per
former’s arrival in Phoenix until their departure after their show\, hos
pitality is managed by artistic operations coordinator Carrie Willis. Carr
ie handles every detail of the artists’ accommodations\, transportation\
, and food and beverage needs\, as well as the backstage experience\, ensu
ring that performers can focus entirely on delivering a great show. \nArti
stic operations coordinator Carrie Willis prepares the backstage VIP room
 before a performer’s arrival. \n \nConcierges Edwin Sarratt\, Jeff Insel
\, Jim Thornton\, and Mark DePue provide artists with a friendly welcome t
o Phoenix and a smooth travel experience. They often transport instruments
 \, gear\, and merchandise and assist with day-of-show needs. Edwin\, Jeff\
, and Jim also serve as day-of-show artist coordinator when Carrie is unav
ailable\, ensuring that the performers receive attentive support throughou
t their time at MIM. \nTheater technician Laura Smith adjusts a spotlight.
\n \nTheater technician Laura Smith is the lighting designer for most per
formances\, taking to the catwalks to focus spotlights on performers and o
perating colorful LED lighting to enhance the atmosphere during each conce
rt. Together\, Nick\, Laura\, and the theater crew— including a rotating
cast of experienced technicians—conduct sound checks and lighting rehea
rsals before every performance. During most concerts\, Nick and Laura work
behind the scenes to ensure that every aspect of the production runs smoo
thly and delivers a memorable experience. \n“Every night is a performanc
e that people have been looking forward to for weeks or even months\, and
we never take that for granted\,” Nick says. “We always want to set th
e artist up for success.” \nTheater production manager Nick Cecconi sits
at the mixing console in the theater. \n \nIn the hours before a show\, l
ead house manager Belle Winsor and house manager Victoria Schwentick\, who
oversee front-of-house operations\, set up merchandise tables and lead pr
e-show meetings for the volunteer team members who run the merch table and
serve as ushers. Belle and Victoria also coordinate show starts\, playing
chimes to announce showtime to guests enjoying drinks and snacks from the
concert bar in North El Río\, and they help the VTM ushers guide guests
to their seats. \n \nLead house manager Belle Winsor (center left) and hou
se manager Victoria Schwentick (center right) hold a pre-show meeting with
volunteer team members. \n \nLike the musicians it supports\, MIM’s the
ater team works in concert to create memorable experiences for artists and
audiences. \n“The room is extraordinary\, but it’s the people who mak
e it sing\,” Walesch says. “Artists feel it the moment they walk in th
e door—a whole team that treats their show like it’s the only one that
matters. When you approach each night with that level of intention\, you
give artists the freedom to take the music somewhere extraordinary. That
’s when a concert becomes an experience that stays with people.”

DESCRIPTION:The Phantom is back to thrill audiences once again! Cameron
Mackintosh presents a revitalized new production of Andrew Lloyd Webbe
r’s legendary musical\, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA\, which was rapturo
usly received by London critics when it reopened in 2021. Featuring Mari
a Björnson’s brilliant original design and based on the celebrated di
rection of Harold Prince\, with musical staging and choreography by Gi
llian Lynne\, the new PHANTOM North American tour comes to ASU Gammage i
n Tempe\, September 16- October 4\, 2026. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is wide
ly considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in his
tory\, playing to over 160 million people in 47 territories and 195 cities
in 21 languages. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s romantic\, haunting\, and soarin
g score includes “The Music of the Night\,” “All I Ask of You\,”
“Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again\,” “Masquerade\,” and the ico
nic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known onl
y as ‘The Phantom’ who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mes
merized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano\, Christine\, The Pha
ntom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unawa
re of Christine’s love for Raoul\, The Phantom’s obsession sets the sc
ene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy\, madness\, and passions
 collide.
