DESCRIPTION:The FDR Park Leaf & Learn program gives our littlest visitors
(ages 2-5) their first opportunity to volunteer at FDR Park! We begin with
a nature-themed read-aloud\, and then get to the outdoorsy fun with easy\
, age-appropriate activities. Tasks include planting seeds\, “feeding”
a worm farm\, and picking up small pieces of trash with kid-sized grabber
 s. It’s a great way to get outdoors and teach your child the importance
of giving back to their community. \nCome to just one week\, or all five!
Older siblings are welcome to attend. Caregivers should register on behalf
of their children\, and must remain throughout the activity.

DESCRIPTION:William Penn placed the City of Philadelphia where it is becau
se of the Schuylkill River\, serving the City first with a canal system\,
and later with railroads and highways in the river’s flood plain. The In
dustrial Revolution radically changed the Schuylkill with factories and mi
lls built along its length. The environmental movement changed the River a
s radically as the industrial age had. These changes\, and contemporary us
es\, leave imprints. “Walking the Schuylkill” intends to capture and h
ighlight those marks\, illustrating the character of the modern Schuylkill
River.\n\nJohn Brady had a long career in maritime museums and ship prese

Ship Preservation Guild\, and leading the Independence Seaport Museum. Sin
ce leaving the museum world\, he has focused on photography and video\, pr
imarily featuring the waterways around Philadelphia.
