et Your Main Instructor\n\\#\\# Mark DeMaio\nI've been immersed in the wor
ld of hand percussion for more than two decades\, studying rhythms\, tradi
tions\, and community music-making from around the globe. Throughout my jo
urney\, I've had the privilege of learning from internationally respected
teachers including **Wolf Murphy\, Buddy Helm\, Thobos Lubamba\, Kasa Panz
u\, Hossam Ramzy\, Mamady Keïta**\, and many others whose generosity has
shaped both my musicianship and my approach to teaching.\nMy training incl
udes certification in **Remo HealthRhythms®** and **Pound Pro**\, and I w
as honored to contribute as an editor to the *Encyclopedia of World Rhythm
s*. I also served as Orlando's drum facilitator for the **Public Urban Rit
ual Experiment (PURE)**\, helping bring community drumming experiences to
 public spaces.\nAs a performer\, I've co-founded **Thee Flammable Babylon
Percussion Ensemble** and have had the opportunity to perform with artists
and groups including **Chasing Jonah\, Tangent\, Red Shift Mantra\, The M
 anteis Project\, Mr. Richard\, Leo Aether\, Ka Malinalli\, Liz Nash**\, an
d many others.\nWhile I'm grateful for the experiences and mentors I've ha
d along the way\, I still consider myself a student first. Every rhythm ca
rries a story\, every tradition has something to teach\, and there is alwa
ys more to learn.\nMy classes emphasize authentic world rhythms\, solid te
 chnique\, listening\, creativity\, and—most importantly—the joy of mak
ing music together. Whether you're picking up a drum for the first time or
looking to expand your musical vocabulary\, you'll find a welcoming commu
nity where learning is hands-on\, encouraging\, and rooted in respect for
the cultures from which these rhythms come.\nI believe rhythm is one of hu
manity's oldest languages. My goal isn't simply to teach patterns—it's t
o help people discover the connection\, confidence\, and community that em
erge when we make music together.
