 a preview of the evening’s concert as well as the chance to hear about t
 he musicians\, the music\, and their instruments. The first 25 students wi
 ll receive a boxed lunch\, available after the Bach’s Lunch at 12:45pm i
 n the Strauss Lobby. There will be a limited number of spots available in 
 the Community Engagement Center lot\, adjacent to Strauss.\n\nThe Valencia
  Bryton Project has dedicated itself to the performance of music written f
 or an ancient and little-known instrument\, the baryton. A cross between t
 he viol da gamba and lirone\, with 10 resonating and plucked strings down 
 the back of the instrument\, the baryton gives the traditional string trio
  an entirely new dimension.The Valencia Baryton Project is a collective fo
 unded by Valencia-based barytonist Matthew Baker with the vision of perfor
 ming the nearly 170 works written by Franz Joseph Haydn as well as composi
 tions by other composers\, both modern and classical. At the heart of the 
 ensemble is the traditional formation in trio - baryton\, viola\, and viol
 oncello - for which Haydn wrote 123 works of outstanding beauty during his
  time as the court composer for the Prince Esterhazy of Austria.\n\nWith M
 atthew Baker\, one of only a handful baryton performers in the world\, the
  Valencia Baryton Project have delighted audiences in over 100 concerts th
 roughout North\, Central and South America as well as Europe with what is 
 considered to have been the pinnacle of aristocratic instruments of the cl
 assical era. Their work has been described as ‘beautifully polished’ (
 Musicalifeiten) and “delightfully inventive” (The Strad). They have be
 en featured in publications and programs such as Berklee Now (USA)\, Radio
  Nacional de España\, BBC 3 (UK)\, Die Welt (Germany)\, and Classic FM (U
 K) amongst others. The Valencia Baryton Project’s barytonist - Matthew B
 aker - was also featured in The Strad in March of 2023 in a full-length ar
 ticle about the instrument.

  (and side dishes) are welcome to be served\, but only red chilies will fa
 ce off in the official contest. And don’t hold back on those toppings 
 – all the fixings are welcome! \nTrophies and the ultimate chili braggin
 g rights await the top 3 winners!\nOnce you’ve voted on your favorite ch
 ili\, head outside and our observatory volunteers will take you on a cosmi
 c journey\, showcasing the wonders of the night sky through our telescopes
