  balance vulnerability with resilience. She embraces painting as an act of
  participation rather than escape\, one that holds grief\, humor\, light\,
  and hope in dynamic tension. Lorenz invites viewers into a contemplative 
 space where attention itself becomes a form of repair\, and where abstract

DESCRIPTION:SLATE is pleased to present Hannah Franco: Poiesis\, a solo ex
 hibition of new paintings by abstract artist Hannah Franco. Featuring ten 
 new paintings\, Hannah Franco brings her once-hidden washes of color forwa
 rd as the true subject of the work\, revealing a self that had long lived 
 quietly beneath the surface. Honoring the power of softness and vulnerabil
 ity\, Franco pays tribute to the often invisible and systemically underval
 ued domestic labor and love women have long contributed to their communiti
 es. \nFranco earned a BFA from Pratt Institute in New York City and studie
 d fresco painting in Florence\, Italy\, now currently living and working i
 n Oakland\, California. She has shown with Oxide Collective in San Francis
 co and is represented by SLATE Contemporary Gallery in Oakland. \nOpening

 ! \n\n\n\nBe among the first to experience BeHere/1942: A New Lens on the 
 Japanese American Incarceration—an immersive gallery installation and au
 gmented reality (AR) experience by world-renowned media artist\, Masaki Fu
 jihata. Reflecting on the impact of Executive Order 9066\, which led to th
 e incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II\, the exhibition
  uses digital media to reframe how history and memory are seen and felt. \
 n\n\n\nJoin the artist\, curators\, and community for an opening with live

 ens on the Japanese American Incarceration transforms historical photograp
 hs into immersive installations that explore how images shape memory\, his
 tory\, and perception. Media artist Masaki Fujihata reimagines photographs
  of Japanese Americans forced from Oakland and Los Angeles during World Wa
 r II\, alongside works by Dorothea Lange\, revealing what lies beyond the 
 frame. Through large-scale projections\, video\, and augmented reality\, v
 isitors move between past and present as images are mapped onto the galler
 y and Oak Street Plaza. The exhibition invites reflection on displacement\
 , exclusion\, and how visual narratives shape civic understanding. \n\n\n\
 nBeHere / 1942 is organized by the Yanai Initiative and OMCA. \n\n\n\n\n\n
