DESCRIPTION:A concert of Indian\, Persian and Afghan classical music featu
ring Arjun K. Verma\, Pezhham Akhavass\, Mazdak Alipour\, and Eman Hashimi
  \n  \n— \nFriday\, September 11\, 2026\n7-9 pm\n$40 General Admission\
n \nInterweaving brings together four virtuoso musicians from the Indian\
, Persian\, and Afghan musical traditions in a rare meeting of some of Asi
a’s richest classical musical cultures. Featuring sitar\, kamancheh\, ta
bla\, daf\, and tombak\, this performance explores the deep historical con
nections and living dialogue between these traditions through improvisatio
n\, virtuosity\, and collaborative creation. The very name of the Indian s
itar is derived from Persian seh-tar (“three strings”)\, hinting at th
e centuries of artistic exchange between the Indian subcontinent and Persi
 a.  \n  \nBuilding on this shared heritage\, the musicians weave togethe
r intricate rhythmic cycles\, expressive melodic modes\, and spontaneous i
mprovisation\, revealing both the common threads and distinctive voices of
these musical lineages. Interweaving invites audiences into a shared soni
 c landscape where rhythm\, melody\, and improvisation transcend geography\
, honoring centuries of cultural tradition and exchange\, while creating s
omething entirely new in the moment.  \n  \nInterweaving is presented by
the Oakland Asian Cultural Center\, made possible through the Musical Gra
nt Program\, administered by InterMusic SF\, and supported by the Clarence
  E. Heller Charitable Foundation and the Hewlett Foundation.  \n  \n

 		\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
 		\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
 	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Our newes
t Lucky Dog is especially close to the OUB family. Daisy belongs to Chelse
a\, one of our longest-tenured teammates and an integral part of Oakland U
nited Beerworks for many\, many years. Chelsea and Daisy have shared a pre
tty special life together\, and we’re honored to shine a spotlight on a
doggo who means so much to someone who means so much to all of us.Here’s
  Daisy’s story\, in Chelsea’s own words. \n \n \n \n
 		\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Daisy came into m
y life unexpectedly in 2020\, when a family friend entrusted her to me. Sh
e was my first dog and showed up at exactly the right moment. She has been
my shadow ever since. Now 12 years old\, Daisy is a blue nose pit bull w
ho has settled very comfortably into her senior years. In her younger days
\, she was always ready for an adventure- running\, playing\, exploring\,
and swimming in just about any body of water we could find. These days\, s
he’s traded most of that excitement for the simpler pleasures in life. H
er ideal afternoon is spent napping in her favorite sunny spot on the back
porch or curled up in her designated place on the couch. Preferably with
one of there favorite people close by. Daisy’s personality is truly one
of a kind. She loves her people deeply and is fiercely devoted to her inn
er circle. When it comes to other animals she has just a handful of carefu
lly chosen dog friends and one cat in her life who regularly bullies her\,
a situation Daisy seems to have reluctantly accepted. She’s also extre
mely expressive. Daisy communicates primarily through an impressive assort
ment of grunts that make her sound more like a little piglet than a dog. W
hen she falls asleep\, those grunts give way to snores loud enough to comp
ete with anyone else in the house. But\, Daisy doesn’t really need to m
ake a sound to tell you how she feels. She has mastered the art of communi
cating entire thoughts with a single look. Beyond the classic pit bull sid
e-eye\, she has perfected a puppy-dog pout that makes it nearly impossible
to tell her no. Whether she’s mildly annoyed\, deeply disappointed in y
ou\, hoping for a snack\, or simply wondering why you’ve disturbed her n
 ap\, you will know. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
 																											\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
 				\n \n \n \n \n \n \n
 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
 		\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Over the
years\, Daisy has had plenty of adventures\, countless naps\, more than a
few sunny afternoons\, and\, most importantly\, a whole lot of love. She
may move a little slower these days\, and her running and swimming adventu
res may be mostly behind her\, but the things that make Daisy happiest hav
e always been pretty simple: give her a comfortable place to nap\, a warm
spot in the sun\, and her favorite people nearby\, and Daisy has everythin
 g she needs. 						\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
 		\n \n \n Daisy may be Chelsea’s Lucky Dog\, but we fee
l pretty lucky to call them both part of the OUB family. The love between
the two of them is impossible to miss. We couldn’t be happier to celebra
te this sweet\, snoring\, side-eye giving girl and give Daisy her well-des
erved moment in the spotlight. Here’s to plenty more sunny naps\, puppy
-dog pouts\, and time spent right where Daisy belongs: by Chelsea’s side
 . Cheers\, Daisy!

DESCRIPTION:Meet Daisy: A Very Lucky Dog \n \n \n \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Dinner and a Show with HOWELLDEVINE\n\n“There is no blues ba
nd performing today as different as HowellDevine—nor as delightful.” ~
Lee Hildebrand\, Living Blues Magazine/SF Chronicle Triple threat talent\
 , Joshua Howell (guitar\, harmonica\, vocals)\, veteran upright bassist\,
Joe Kyle Jr.\, and the dynamic J. Hansen on drums mix rural blues with wil
dly syncopated rhythms to create a rollicking sound that stands in stark c
ontrast to the typical blues heard these days. Originally formed by Joshua
Howell and drummer Pete Devine\, the band’s signature sound grew from t
heir deeply shared rhythmic sensibility. The band was the first blues act
signed by Chris Strachwitz to his legendary Arhoolie Records label in over
25 years\, a testament to HowellDevine’s ability breathe life back into
the early blues with their stamp of propulsive\, hypnotic rhythms
