 aditional rhythms with Afrobeats\, reggae\, Hip-Hop\, and contemporary inf

 owerful vocals\, and plenty of opportunities for the audience to join in t

 s the Amphitheater with an infectious mix of Caribbean Global Sound throug

 documentary Alice Street\, directed by Spencer Wilkinson\, which narrates 
 how a neighborhood mural on 14th and Alice Street catalyzed a multiracial 
 coalition to rally in protection of cultural arts and livability in Oaklan
 d.  \n\n\n\nGroups featured in the film from the Malonga Casquelourd Cent
 er for the Arts will open and close the program\, including a drum offerin
 g by Bantaba Drum Call to call in ancestors and a performance by Dimension
 s Dance Theater to root in Black joy and resistance—hearkening back to H
 oward’s many years spent honing her dance skills with Oakland dance lege

 ty circle and gathering place for important events\,” Bantaba roots its

       Founded in Oakland in 1972\, Dimensions Dance Theater (DDT) creates\

 ra. Under co-founder and Artistic Director Deborah Vaughan\, DDT is one of
  the oldest contemporary dance companies in the US\, widely recognized for
  its repertoire of traditional African\, jazz\, and modern dance idioms an
 d its Rites of Passage program for youth. \nBased at the Malonga Casquelou
 rd Center for the Arts in downtown Oakland\, DDT is a leading member of th
 e Malonga Arts Collective and presents an annual home season in October. \

                    Spencer Wilkinson is an award-winning documentary filmm

 ire civic engagement. Before filmmaking\, he spent a decade working with s
 ystems-impacted youth. His films include Alice Street\, ONE VOICE: The Sto
 ry of the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir\, Oakland Boogaloo (co-produced 
 with KQED and recipient of a Regional Emmy Award)\, AscenDance\, and Solom
 on Hill. His work has screened internationally\, aired on PBS\, and reache

        Lailan Sandra Huen is a 5th-generation Oaklander whose family sough
 t refuge in Oakland Chinatown after the 1906 earthquake. She was part of t
 he Oakland Chinatown Coalition\, having led campaigns to secure Community 
 Benefits Agreements in new developments and working for equitable developm
 ent.  She authored the “Our Neighborhoods” report for the National Co
 alition for Asian Pacific American Community Development\, which documents
  best practices to protect our cultural districts. Lailan is a doctoral st
 udent in East-West Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Stud
 ies with a focus in belonging and racial healing. \n\n				\n				\n

 erica. With soulful melodies\, rock influences\, and timeless rhythms\, th
 eir performance celebrates the rich musical traditions that continue to in
 spire generations. \n\n\n\nThe celebration continues in the Amphitheater w
 ith Caja Mágica’s all-vinyl DJ set\, featuring a vibrant selection of L
 atin American records from the ’60s and ’70s across a range of genres.
  Guests can also get into the groove with community activist and dancer So
 ulchild during an introductory disco dance lesson\, inviting participants 
 to learn classic moves\, embrace self-expression\, and enjoy the joy of da
 ncing together. \n\n\n\nVisitors can connect with Bike East Bay in the Gar
 den to learn about efforts to create safer\, more accessible streets throu
 ghout the East Bay. Explore their advocacy work\, discover free bike educa
 tion classes and community events\, and join in a creative “Draw a Bike 
 From Memory” activity for all ages. \n\n\n\nAlongside an exceptional eve
 nt experience\, Friday Nights at OMCA also features Gallery Chats from 5:3
 0–7:30 pm. Putting a twist on the traditional museum tour\, Gallery Chat
 s invite visitors to engage in meaningful conversations\, share personal r
 eflections\, and explore new perspectives on the artwork\, artifacts\, and
  stories throughout OMCA’s galleries. Enthusiastic volunteer facilitator
 s can be found floating between all of OMCA’s galleries\, including its 
 Great Hall Special Exhibitions\, throughout the evening. Look for the blue

     Los Tranquilos are a group based out of Nipomo\, California. The band 
 lineup features brother duo Manny and JJ Martinez\, as well as longtime fr

 ve been working to create universal yet historical grooves with sounds hea
 vily inspired by 60’s/70’s romanticas/soul\, psychedelia from México
