DESCRIPTION:Gallery Particulier Takes Its Most Successful Exhibition Out o
 f the Gallery and Into the Community\nBrooklyn\, NY — September 2026 —
On September 18\, Gallery Particulier’s most successful exhibition to d
ate\, Unboxed: Black Fathers Are Present\, will move from its Flatbush gal
lery to Alex House Project\, a dynamic and innovative nonprofit that helps
young adults navigate parenthood.\nAs the majority of people do not atten
d museums and art galleries\, Gallery Particulier innovates with ways to b
ring visual arts into the community. \nIt is the only nonprofit in NYC th
at takes art to people rather than expecting them to come to galleries & m
useums.\nVisual arts are part of every culture\, and bring benefits such a
sense of identity and social cohesion\, as well as an enrichment of exper
ience\, and connection to the artist.\nGallery Particulier have already br
ought art to many places including a women’s shelter and a senior reside
nce. Now\, Unboxed is going directly to young adults who are working out w
hat it means to be a parent.\nAlex House Project Founder and Director Samo
ra Coles is a visionary leader who is open to new paradigms. She immediate
ly saw the value of bringing Dáreece Walker’s art to the young people h
er organization serves.\n“These images can be affirming and positive for
our young people\,” says Coles. “They offer a vision of fatherhood th
at is often missing from the images they see around them.” \nCreated by
Brooklyn artist Dáreece Walker\, Unboxed: Black Fathers Are Present confr
onts the persistent stereotype of the absent Black father. Walker’s port
raits make visible something that\, often distorted\, is proven statistica
lly: Black fathers are very involved in the lives of their children—pres
 ent\, loving\, nurturing\, and engaged.\nFor Walker\, making art that shak
es up the status quo is essential. \nThe response at Gallery Particulier
has been extraordinary. Unboxed has become the organization’s most succe
ssful exhibition ever\, drawing a steady stream of visitors and bringing f
amilies\, parents\, children\, and community members from all over the cit
y.\n“These young people are busy parents for whom going to a museum to e
ncounter art that speaks directly to their lives is unlikely.” says Arab
ella von Arx\, director of Gallery Particulier. “The Alex House Project
is a wonderful institution that helps them thrive\, and we’re delighted
we can bring the art there.”\nUnboxed: Black Fathers Are Present\, an ex
 hibit of works by Dáreece Walker\nSeptember 18\, 2026 · 5–7 PM    Fr
 ee\nAlex House Project · 9 Bond Street\, 4th floor\, Brooklyn\, NY 11201.
  \nThe exhibition can be seen   Monday-Thursdays from 1pm m to 4:45pm. \
nFridays 11am-4:45pm \nPresented by Gallery Particulier in collaboration w
ith Alex House Project.\n\nGallery Particulier is a Brooklyn nonprofit ded
icated to innovating the ways visual art is shared. Rather than limiting a
rt to galleries and museums\, Gallery Particulier brings art into people
 ’s homes\, workplaces\, neighborhoods\, community organizations\, and ev
eryday environments—connecting artists with people who might otherwise n
ever encounter their work.\nThe Alex House Project\, founded in Brooklyn i
n 2013 by Samora Coles\, supports young parents as they navigate the chall
enges and possibilities of parenthood. Coles created the organization out
of her own experience as a young mother\, recognizing the need for practic
al support\, parenting education\, workforce development\, and a strong co
mmunity around young families. Today\, The Alex House Project has helped h
undreds of young parents build confidence\, stability\, and leadership ski
lls. \n  \nDáreece talks about how the series started: \nhttps://youtu.
