DESCRIPTION:Coming to America\nEdward Branley\nWhen the French Quarter was
  Sicilian\n\n\nBetween the 1870s and 1920s\, roughly 300\,000 Italian immi
grants\, about 90% of whom were Sicilian\, came through the port of New Or
leans. In When the French Quarter was Sicilian\, local author Edward Bran
ley explores the part of the Quarter known as “Little Palermo” from th
e 1890s into the 1930s. From the riverfront to the French Market\, up into
the neighborhood\, Edward talks about produce farmers\, market vendors\,
 grocers\, bakers\, restaurant and tavern owners\, organized crime\, and a
 well-known ice cream maker.
