DESCRIPTION:Sometimes\, the driest court records hold nuggets of narrative
  gold that can come to life through audio. The Debt\, a podcast from Nas
 hville Public Radio and The Tennessee Lookout\, is a story with plot\, sta
 kes and characters — all completely true\, all based on the 1968 Geier c
 ase and its legacy. Please join the George Barrett Social Justice Program
  in welcoming reporters Camellia Burris (WPLN News) and Emily Siner (form
 erly of WNYC's More Perfect) to discuss how they told the story for Tennes
 see State University's fight for fair funding through firsthand accounts\,
  archival tape\, and narrative scripting.\n \nLunch will be provided to a
 ttendees. RSVP is not required to attend but will help gauge attendance.\n
  \n \nCamellia Burris is an attorney and journalist from Nashville. She 
 is a graduate of Spelman College\, Tulane University School of Law\, and C
 olumbia University Graduate School of Journalism\, where she studied at th
 e Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism. She began her journali
 sm career covering housing policies for the San Francisco Public Press bef
 ore joining the Miami Herald as an investigative reporting fellow. She now
  covers education for WPLN News.\n \n \nEmily Siner is a Pulitzer final
 ist and Peabody Award-winning story editor based in Nashville. She was the
  executive producer of More Perfect from WNYC Studios and the former new
 s director of Nashville Public Radio. She has produced and edited episodes
  of NPR’s Planet Money\, NPR’s Life Kit\, Vox's Unexplainable and
  Proof from America’s Test Kitchen\, among others. In 2022\, she was 
 a U.S. Fulbright Scholar at Maynooth University in Ireland\, where she res
 earched how journalists covered the 2018 Irish abortion referendum.\n\nHos
