DESCRIPTION:Graduate school can feel like a state of arrested development
–programs are long enough to encourage making a home in your adopted cit
y\, but the whims of the job market mean remaining open to any number of p
ossibilities upon completion. This may include temporary appointments\, li
ke postdocs\, that ask you to stay flexible and open to opportunities for
years at a time. This panel focuses on navigating delayed and uncertain ti
melines in graduate school and beyond. The intention is to discuss how pur
suing an academic career can delay progress on other major life milestones
 : finding a partner\, starting a family\, buying a house\, establishing co
mmunity\, etc. As part of Postdoc Appreciation Week\, this panel will high
light how career steps between a Ph.D. program and a full-time job further
impact these decisions.\n\nHosted by: Margaret Cuninggim Women's Center \
