DESCRIPTION:Yard Act at Fine Line (Sep 17\, 2026)\n\n\nSeptember 17\, 2026
Thursday Yard Act\nat Fine Line\nfirst-avenue.com\n\nYard Act is returnin
g to Minneapolis\, play the Fine Line on September 17\, 2026. We’ve see
n them twice\, and they say that they lose a lot of money when they play t
he USA\, but it’s worth it to them: they love America.\n\n\nThe ticket l
imit is strict. Any attempt to exceed the posted ticket limit per customer
or household\, or to game the system in any way\, will result in cancella
tion of orders without notice. There is a transfer delay for all tickets p
rior to the show.\n\n \n \n\n\nWe last saw the band in Oct 20
24 and wrote\, “Stemming all the way from Leeds\, England\, the wild bun
ch Yard Act have had quite the success in recent years… touring all over
Europe with Jack White\, playing one of their biggest singles with Sir El
ton John from their 2022 debut album The Overload\, and playing all the bi
ggest music festivals all over the world. I saw these guys two years ago a
t SXSW and really enjoyed their sets from the 2022 release. A little rawer
Blur/Pulp/The Streets mix. They were one of the biggest buzz bands that y
ear\, thanks to their hit album. They were arena ready for all the big foo
tball diehards. The music video for that hit is quite epic. Getting in jus
t a couple hours before the show started\, they cut right to the chase fro
m their long US tour. They had two female dancer/singers and have added a
saxophonist to their new core and touring act. Throughout the first half o
f the set\, they played mostly tracks from the new 2024 release Where’s
my Utopia?. The lead singer is always entertaining with the crowd\, and wa
s all over the stage as always.”\nSocial Share\n Share on Add Us (Ope

DESCRIPTION:Last fall\, something remarkable happened in downtown Minneapo
lis. For two nights\, David Byrne of Talking Heads performed at the Orpheu
m Theatre\, while Purple Rain flickered across the street at the State.
The sidewalks buzzed with people\, color\, and possibility. In that moment
\, the city itself felt like a stage—alive\, collaborative\, and full of
creative electricity. What unfolded on the Orpheum stage was more than a
concert. It was an artistic feat that was also intellectual\, civic\, and
deeply human. Byrne has always had a knack for dreaming a few steps ahead\
, and his performance was a reminder of how creativity\, design\, and comm
unity can intersect to create something transcendent. The overriding vibe
that night was simple and irresistible: This must be the place. Great dow
ntowns generate that feeling. They aren’t defined by one skyscraper or o
ne institution. They thrive when safety is foundational\, when residents\,
workers\, business owners\, community partners\, and law enforcement shar
e a vision of belonging. They succeed when systems—transportation\, publ
ic space\, culture—are designed around people\, not the other way around
. And most of all\, they flourish when movement\, purpose\, and collaborat
ion flow together. Downtown Minneapolis is at its best when it operates li
ke that stage—dynamic\, adaptive\, intentionally designed to bring peopl
e together. A vibrant downtown invites us into a system where creativity\,
culture\, and community reinforce each other\, where good energy multipli
es\, and where people leave feeling inspired and connected. We often hear
the question: Is downtown back? But the more useful question is: What a
re we building it to be? Real optimism isn’t pretending every challenge
is solved. It’s being clear‑eyed about what needs work while being co
nfident in our capacity to shape what comes next. And what comes next is a
lready taking shape. Downtown Minneapolis today is a place where people li
ve in walkable neighborhoods close to parks\, bike trails\, transit\, and
hundreds of thousands of jobs. It’s where ambassadors greet visitors wit
h help and a smile. It’s where more than 100\,000 people can gather for
major events—Taste of Minnesota\, block parties on First Avenue\, commun
ity celebrations that make the city feel like one big living room. It’s
a place where you can take in world‑class theater\, orchestra performanc
es\, live music\, and comedy shows. Where you can grab a cocktail at an i
 ce bar\, watch a fashion show\, or—because this is Minnesota—even on a
rooftop in January. It’s where entrepreneurs launch companies\, attract
talent\, and drive results. It’s where chefs experiment\, restaurants p
ush boundaries\, and creativity becomes an economic engine. It’s where f
ans howl for the Wolves\, cheer on the Lynx\, Skol for the Vikings\, or ro
ot for the Twins on a perfect summer night. And it’s a place with unmatc
hed natural assets—miles of riverfront access that anchor the city in be
auty and movement. In other words\, downtown Minneapolis is already a plac
e where the pieces of a vibrant future exist. The task now is to continue
designing systems that connect those pieces—to build the infrastructure
of community as deliberately as we build the infrastructure of streets and
buildings. When people feel welcomed\, inspired\, and fulfilled by their
time downtown\, they come back. And when they come back\, the city grows s
tronger. “This must be the place” isn’t just a lyric. It’s a direc
tive. It’s a challenge to imagine what’s possible when culture leads\,
when collaboration is intentional\, and when we treat community as the en
gine of our shared prosperity. It’s a reminder that our best days aren
’t behind us—they are in front of us\, shaped by the people who choose
to gather\, create\, build\, and dream here.  This is the place. This is
home. This is our downtown Minneapolis.

DESCRIPTION:Modest Mouse at Saint Augustine Amphitheatre (Sep 17\, 2026)\n
 \n\nSeptember 17\, 2026 ThursdayModest Mouse\nwith Robber Robber at Saint
Augustine Amphitheatretheamp.com\n\nPopular band Modest Mouse will be head
 lining the Amp\, in St Augustine\, Florida\, this September 17\, 2026.\n\n
Modest Mouse at Palace Theatre\, St Paul (10 Dec 2022) \n\
n\nWe saw Modest Mouse in Dec 2022 and said\, “Modest Mouse wanted to re
flect the makeup of the band when they recorded their seminal album in 199
 7. So a quartet took the stage with original members\, Isaac Brock on lead
vocals and guitar and Jeremiah Green on drums\, joined by Russell Higbee
on bass and Simon O’Connor on guitar. What made The Lonesome Crowded Wes
t such an influential masterpiece is because it sounded like nothing befor
e it. Inhabiting chord structures that seemed just a little off allowed th
e band to explore discordant feelings of isolation. Brock said the album i
s about the unintended effects of urban sprawl\, which at the time was whe
 re the band lived in Issaquah\, WA\, a suburb of Seattle.”\n\n\nRobber R

DESCRIPTION:An all-star tribute to one of jazz’s most iconic voices.\n
\nWe are sad to hear the news of the passing of Cassandra Wilson at age
seventy. She was a singer’s singer\, one of those artists who seemed to
be as admired by peers as by fans. There\, she became one of the most acc
laimed jazz vocalists of the 1990s and beyond. Moreover\, she accomplished
this through her unmistakably deep\, smoky voice and adventurous approach
to song interpretation. \nWilson was best known for her genre-bending voi
ce\, which expanded the boundaries of traditional blues-based jazz. At the
heart of all her work was her idiosyncratic contralto\, a soulful sound d
istinctly tied to her roots. \nShe won numerous awards\, including two Gra
mmys and an Honorary Doctorate in Music from Berklee College of Music. Als
o\, she received the highest jazz award in the country\, being named an NE
A Jazz Master in 2022. \nShe released more than twenty albums as a primary
leader. With an average of ten to twelve songs per studio album\, she rec
orded roughly 200 to 250 songs. Her total count is significantly higher wh
en including guest appearances on projects by artists like Wynton Marsalis
\, Terence Blanchard\, and Bill Frisell. \nWilson counted herself as one o
f the types of musicians that are really concerned about the art of jazz.
There\, she became “really motivated every day to get up and create some
thing brand new”. Furthermore\, she offers that you should “focus on h
oning your craft and being able to communicate as best as possible\, your
ideas as an artist”. (Mississippi Public Broadcasting) \nHere\, this spe
cial show includes favorites “Time After Time”\, “Strange Fruit”\,
“Tupelo Honey”\, “Waters of March” and many more. \nGinger Commod
 ore\, vocals\nAdi Yeshaya\, piano\nJay Young\, bass\nBrandon Commodore\, d
 rums\nDaryl Boudreaux\, percussion\nOmar Abdulkarim\, trumpet \nRecommende

 right.
